[He looks... really unsettled, like he just watched something awful happen and doesn't even know how to process it. In fact that's pretty much exactly what happened: he awoke with a start from a dream he's sure wasn't a dream--he remembers it like it happened, like memories... but it's been hours, not the year-plus he experienced in that dream. He's still trying to wrap his head around everything, and that's when it hits him: he died. And Roxas is gone. Not just gone from the fleet, he already knew that part, and it suddenly hurts a thousandfold more than it did before, because Roxas had been here and now he's not, and now Axel knows he's gone for good. Suddenly he feels like he wasted an opportunity, and he has no excuse other than ignorance.

[He rubs his arms--it's strangely cold in here, it seems--and regards the feed on his communicator. He just needs to get his mind off this.]

So, Fleet, I'm curious: is there ice cream wherever you come from? What's your favorite flavor? Gimme your best ice cream story, I'm bored.

Mender! [ He looks fairly happy to say that, then remembers that wait, that's not the title here. ]

... Medic? I learned a lot of things for making humans feel better when I showed up! [ ... Isn't that reassuring- ]

But I can grow plants fairly fast, so ... uh... Allen? Allen! Thinks I should grow medicinal plants.

Mender? [What, are you gonna darn his socks? Realization crosses his face when he tries again, though.] Oh, that kind of mending. Can always use more of those, I think.

I don't really know a whole lot about medicinal plants. There were a lot of plants where I grew up, so I can name a lot of flowers, but really just the decorative kind.

[He sort of gestures at the feed then.] So you're rather obviously... something other than human. I don't think I've ever seen somebody that looked like you before. What do you call yourself? Like, your people?

I can help grow those, too! If you want any. And I have enough pots.

[ Asteffiel blinks, but well, he's being fairly polite about it. ]

Oh, ah... I mean if you want to, I won't say no or anything. Can't hurt to have plants onboard, right? I mean, oxygen's a good thing.

Sylvari, huh? Nope, definitely never heard that before. Well, welcome to the Tourist, sorry I didn't find time for introductions sooner.

I am a plant? [ He's confused. Was Axel thinking of kicking him out- ]

That is what everyone is saying. ... Thank you!

[ ... Very confused, but cheerfully so. ]

... Wait you are? [Well that's... different. He waves his hands and shakes his head.] Ah-- I didn't know that, I wasn't talking about you, I mean... of course you can stay onboard, sheesh. I just meant it's fine to plant some other plants, if you want.

[He would never just punt somebody off the ship, unless they gave him a really good reason!]

Yes. [ He has leaves for hair, it's confusing to think of being anything else. ]

... How many is "some"? Can I put a lot of medicine and maybe food plants in the med bay? But not blocking the first aid box?

[ ... Because he's already started. It didn't really cross his mind to ask about this. ]

[Hey, Axel has seen some strange things, he didn't really think too hard about what the peculiar arrangement of his hair might have meant.

[He taps his chin in thought.]

So long as people can still get in and out of the med bay, you can put as many plants in there as you like. Food plants are a good idea, too, I hadn't thought of that. Maybe those'd be better in the kitchen area, though? I think there's more space, at least. I'm looking into some upgrades for the ship, for that matter, so we might get more space in there yet.

[ It looks spikey, who knows what it is? ]

Okay! [ He can keep things neat in there. ]

Ohh. Maybe I could move anything ready to eat into the kitchen? Like.. if I get tomatoes, when they're almost all red, so they can finish in there?

[It is a mystery~]

Sure, sure, as you like it. I don't really care where they are, I just thought you might have more space in the kitchen. If it means we have real fruit and stuff instead of just weird tofu junk all the time, I'm all for it, so you can garden however you see fit.

I guess oranges are probably out of the question though, huh? They're kinda tropical-ish, right? Dunno if they'd grow in space.

[ There is a happy plant man over here.

Oranges? Hmmm . ]

It would be hard. Tropical things mean they like lots of warm weather, which I could do by sticking it right under a sun lamp, but they also like... when the air is really damp. I would probably have to take up another room to make tropical things grow. Because other plants would find it too warm or too wet and get sick.

Mm, bummer. Well, if we can get some upgrades done on the ship, maybe we can partition a room off for that sort of endeavor. I guess we'll have to see.

Actually, that in mind--I know you haven't even been here a whole month yet, but aside from Fenris and myself you've been on the ship the longest. How are you doing on ratings and credits? Ship upgrades have to be funded in two batches, so if I'm the only one doing it, it'll take two months just to make a single upgrade. If you've got enough to help out, we can make some changes around here happen more quickly. Whaddaya say? Faster we get the ball rolling, the faster we'll have more space for plants.

[He seriously doesn't care if there are plants everywhere, he'd just like private sleeping quarters.]

... How do I check 'credits' and 'ratings'? Is Fenris the angry one with the silver veins?

[ Also he would totally turn "his" room into the humid room. He used to live in a jungle, it wouldn't be a bother- ]

There's a couple of full-size terminals on the ship where you can access your credit balance, and I think there's a little mobile version on your communicator that gives you a real simplified view. It doesn't show your ratings numbers, but if you've gotten good ratings in the time you've been here, you'll have more money than if you haven't, so you can kind of guesstimate how the audience feels about you based on the balance.

And yeah, Fenris is the elf with anger management problems. I don't think he'll bother ya much; he seems to keep to himself, he's just got a very specific set of triggers, it seems.

Oooohh. I will try to find that. I will help if I can!

[ ... He's confused about audience. He knows what that is, but he isn't part of the performing guild like Hibiscus!

And now he looks embarrassed. ]

I already made him angry, so I will do my best to avoid him.

I'd appreciate that. I think a few upgrades to this little tin can we're in might make things a lot easier for all of us. [He knows he'll sleep a lot better with a door, for starters.]

Ah, don't worry too much about Fenris, I think I pissed him off, too. He's very easily annoyed, so yeah, it's probably best to just steer clear when you can.

More space, more things to grow, more tasty food! [ ... which he isn't terribly put out about their protein dispensers, his cooking is usually around the same level. ]

Ohhh. Okay!

That's the plan.

Ah, anyway... [He hesitates, then nods.] Thanks. [Yeah. He's still not used to saying that, but maybe it's something he can learn to get the hang of.] Go ahead and do whatever with your plants, and when we have some more space we can talk about how to best use it.

We've got a civilian room now, too, so I'll talk to the new guy and see if he's got plans for it. I think having real salad or strawberries or something is as good a use for a room as anything, honestly. [Real food like that would also be a good thing to barter for favors from other members of the fleet. Axel may have just met his first actually useful crew member.]

[ Wait one of those words rang a bell in his head- Asteffiel blinks a couple times. ]

Blueberry! Blueberry icecream! With chocolate!

[ ... Off topic, maybe, but he remembered something! ]

Bluebe... huh? [And then he just kind of laughs.] Oh, you remembered, huh? [This guy's even spacier than Roxas! It's kind of entertaining.] Blueberry and chocolate, hmm. Sounds good. Maybe we'll find some on the next planet we go to.

[ He sounds so proud of himself too.

Although that's a little short lived. ]

I don't remember who made it though.

[ ... And back to excited. ]

Maybe! Or we find blueberries and chocolate and someone who can make icecream, and we make it together!

Well, that's okay, all in good time, right?

[Another short laugh.]

Maybe! Man, I wish I'd been able to find some ice cream on those moons we were at last month. I'll just have to keep looking, I guess.

... Maybe. But now would also be a good time...

[ He's fairly sure it's important. Somehow. ]

I will let you know if I find any ice cream!

[He's not quite sure what to say to that. Sure, now's a good time, but you can't force yourself to remember things, it doesn't work that way.

[He ventures a thin smile.]

All right. And I'll let you know if I find any blueberries.

[ Leaning for a secretive whisper... over the video box. Good job, Asteffiel. ]

Blueberries should be easy to grow, and they can come in little bush trees!
