[He looks... really unsettled, like he just watched something awful happen and doesn't even know how to process it. In fact that's pretty much exactly what happened: he awoke with a start from a dream he's sure wasn't a dream--he remembers it like it happened, like memories... but it's been hours, not the year-plus he experienced in that dream. He's still trying to wrap his head around everything, and that's when it hits him: he died. And Roxas is gone. Not just gone from the fleet, he already knew that part, and it suddenly hurts a thousandfold more than it did before, because Roxas had been here and now he's not, and now Axel knows he's gone for good. Suddenly he feels like he wasted an opportunity, and he has no excuse other than ignorance.

[He rubs his arms--it's strangely cold in here, it seems--and regards the feed on his communicator. He just needs to get his mind off this.]

So, Fleet, I'm curious: is there ice cream wherever you come from? What's your favorite flavor? Gimme your best ice cream story, I'm bored.

once i made my brother's ice cream explode in his face. i was ten. he ate the last cookie our aunt made the week before, so i got back at him.

i put a small, mostly-harmless explosive between the scoops and set it off remotely. i was just learning how to do that kind of thing at the time, so now i'd probably go about it a little differently, but hey. he wasn't expecting it, so it all works out.

Nah, I like vanilla, too. Simple isn't necessarily boring, I think. Vanilla goes with a lot of stuff--have you ever had like a scoop of vanilla ice cream in a cup of coffee?

Now there's a couple of flavors I've never tried. I've had green tea before, but only in drink form. Not really my thing--it was kinda bitter! But rose? Like the flower? [He just looks puzzled.] How do they even make ice cream out of that?

The ice cream is a little sweeter, 'cause it has milk in it -- but yeah, it's not exactly chocolate or anything.

Mhm, like the flower! You can get a flavor out of the petals. It's actually pretty potent!

Shaved ice was more popular in my hometown, though. Much easier to make.

Really? I actually never had shaved ice til I left home, it's kinda funny. I guess it probably is easier, though. I'll admit I don't even actually know how ice cream is made. I tried putting milk in the freezer once and all I got was a block of frozen milk.

[As usual, as soon as they landed on the planet, Fenris has found other accommodation, so he hasn't noticed a damn thing going on in the Tourist. Still, he decided to pay the broadcast from Axel the most fleeting of attention, before instantly regretting it. He lets out a huff.]

When I was little I used to really like bubblegum ice cream, but... now it's mostly just kind of gross. Definitely cherry garcia or cookie dough. Neither of which I think we can replicate here...

And... I'm sorry if this is out of line, but you seem really bummed for a guy who's talking about ice cream. Are you okay?

[He looks a little surprised then, but quickly schools the expression away. Ah, was he being that transparent? Better work on his poker face a bit, then. He shakes his head and grins a little.]

Just haven't been sleeping well. [It's not a lie.] Figured talking about something like this would be good to get my mind off some things, you know?
