[Which, rationally, didn't matter. And yet the teen couldn't shake the thought of it, either. So she kept trying, instead of just stepping down. Keeping an eye on crewmates, generally just being around, spending less time out on the planet than she usually would of.]
[...Her new cat was a factor there, too. She'd rescued a little tabby kitten from one of the boxes in the dungeons on the last world, and figuring out how to take care of a tiny ball of energy and claws was surprisingly exhausting, even for her. She could often be found chasing the little kitten around, or trying to corral her in the kitchen or in her bedroom...neither of which seemed to work as well as she would've liked.]
[At other times, she could be found in the cargo bay, the kitten somewhere nearby as she spent time with the emotion slugs she kept in the tanks there. Or working out, doing her stretches. Or in the kitchen trying (and mostly failing) to cook. They needed to upgrade the kitchens soon...]
[Or anywhere on the ship, really. Wildcard it up!]
cargo bay
Hello, Captain Kinney. May I ask who we have here?
no subject
...Just Laura.
[She said after several seconds of not quite deer-in-headlighting. And then, thankfully, she focused on the cat. The kitten had squirmed her way under the tanks, but popped back out now at the sound of voices, peering curiously up at Billy.]
I haven't named her yet.
[She is assuming he doesn't mean the slugs. Maybe he meant the slugs? She had never named them either...]
no subject
[His attention was happily diverted to the cat, and he couldn't help smiling at her.]
Well, I see someone's having fun here.
[He's not the type to squat down and try to pet, even if he really wants to. Instead, he indicates the tank.]
But I have to say...it's an interesting pet combination. I was considering purchasing a rock down below, but we don't need to become a menagerie.
no subject
She is very energetic.
[Laura agreed. And then tilted her head to the side. A rock.]
...We could put it in the tank.
[She indicated the slug tank not filled with water.]
no subject
You know...yes, it could fit there. The slugs could probably use some enrichment, do you think?

Is that a...?
[She trails off as she feels a tickle in her nose and she tries to hold back any sniffling or sneezing. Yeah, definitely a cat. Even space has cats. She shouldn't be surprised.]

[Laura turned as Velvet entered, and immediately heard that increase in heart rate just before a...sneeze. Though the dark haired girl seemed to hold it off for now.]
You are allergic.
[Well crap.]
no subject
[It's not a denial, but she doesn't want to make a big deal of it. She'd been through a lot of crap in her life, she wasn't going to let a stupid allergy slow her down.]
no subject
[She didn't believe her at all, really.]
I will make sure her fur does not get left anywhere.
[Meanwhile, the little kitten was prowling her way towards Velvet, oblivious to the danger of daemon sneezes!]

Billy | ota
He tended to stay out of the way as much as possible---dashing in and out of the showers, quick to finish an exercise routine, and gulping down his meals. Being this close was incredibly uncomfortable, especially with those red walls, but he needed to bear it.
When they came into the new belt's orbit, he made regular day trips down to Vingloria for the earning potential. Upon his return each night, he could be found in his open bunk tuning an acoustic guitar, in the engine room testing the equipment, or in the lab poking at the new gashes from his ATV mishaps.
Wherever they were, he'd try his best to lend a hand...perhaps with a little excessive verbiage.]
Lab
Do... do you need help with that?
[His gashes, he means.]

[He looks down at his arm. It doesn't look great. Ah, the folly of the former superhero.]
That would be wonderful---I can usually handle myself, but this angle's a little awkward.
[Oh yes, he looks very sheepish.]
I've been spending a little too much time around the ATVs---have you been to Vingloria yet?
no subject
I should probably say this, but I'm warning you I don't really have much experience in doing first aid on other people. But as long as I don't have to do anything like stitches, I should be okay.
[What Seymour means by that should be obvious when he gently touches Billy's arm and he should notice that his hands are just covered in bandages.
Like, so many it's amazing he can manage to pick anything up.]
Not yet, I want to go, but I'm afraid I'll get so overwhelmed that I just die. Everything here is still very unfamiliar to me, I'm not even sure what an ATV is.

That's all right. Getting thrown into this business unprepared seems to be the way of things for our hosts. Apparently it's more entertaining if we're lost.
[He focuses on keeping still and steady, and talking about interests seems to help with that.]
It stands for all-terrain vehicle. They're four-wheeled vehicles low to the ground that you mount, designed for driving over rougher terrain than traditional cars. They're similar to motorcycles, but designed for off-road driving. And they're popular for racing.

She raises an eyebrow when she notices his injuries, though.]
What happened to you?
lab
[You'd think he'd stop at some point, but the job is slowly building up his bank account. This time he's poking at his neck.]
Have you been exploring?
lab
[She crosses her arms and leans against a nearby table.]
I haven't tried the ATV things yet, though.
[In large part because she has very little idea what they are.]

I should probably back off and raise my pet rock, but...I've always lacked a little sense, I guess.

Seymour Krelborn | OTA
He frankly spends way too much time in his day just wandering aimlessly around the entire ship. Being from the early 1960's, and being very poor himself, he's never dreamed of being able to access technology like this, never mind the fact that he gets to live in space. It's definitely a lot to take in, especially after his life before all of this.
Otherwise he spends a lot of time in the lab mostly just... trying not to break anything there, mostly. He admits, he didn't think he really trusted himself to be a lab assistant and help people recover from injuries. However, he would hate himself if he just didn't do his job so he's going to try his best.
God save him.
Once he gets more settled in, he realizes just how dreary this place is. Sure, it was still worlds better than Skid Row, but it could use some less mechanical touches in his opinion... Okay this is just an excuse to buy plants the moment he gets the opportunity to when he goes to Meston, just let him have this, okay?
So crew of the Red Fish will notice some potted plants popping up a little after Seymour arrives,
along with Seymour happily tending to them. Another thing he has to admit, the interesting plant life here is far and away the best part of ending up here for him.]
[Of course if you wanna do something more specific/wildcard-y, feel free to hit me up on it!]
Lab
[So. She was trying. Mostly remembering things her friends on the X-men had done, forever ago when she had been on a team.]
[Which was why she popped up one morning when Seymour was in the lab. She'd been watching him for a few days, in her weird stalkery way where he probably felt like someone was following him but there was never anyone there. Just figuring out his routine. What he seemed to be like. If she needed to throw him out an airlock.]
[The important things.]
[But he seemed harmless. If a bit old fashioned. And liked plants? So, there she was, in the doorway to the lab, holding one of the glowing flowered plants from the asteroid in a little pot.]
Hi.

He's reading over the medicine bottles when Laura walks into the room. If he's seen her around, it definitely hasn't been enough to get a good impression of her, so don't mind if he looks a little awkward. Especially since she seems to be holding one of the plants he bought. Gosh is she upset by how many he's buying?]
Hi?
no subject
[After a few seconds she holds it out to him, stepping further into the room.]
I'm Laura.
no subject
He looks at the plant, confused once he realizes that it's not his. What could this mysterious woman possibly want-oh wait is she giving this to him?]
I'm Seymour? Are you giving this to me?
[What a great first meeting this is.]

Velvet | OTA
After her room is literally spotless, she wanders around the rest of the ship for a bit, exploring. If she sees anything out of place she will put it away. It's not her job and she knows it, but she just likes doing it.
Eventually she'll find herself in the kitchen, a room she hasn't spent much time in since arriving. Honestly, what's the point if she can't taste anything? But now that she's there and looking around, she's kind of curious about some of the gadgets.
She pokes a bit at the microwave, muttering to herself:]
What does this do...?
