001 | We Aren't in Midgand Anymore
Who: Eleanor and You!
Broadcast: Yes.
Action: SS. Wonderduck
When: May 1st
[Video]
[After Eleanor arrives, it takes her a few days to 'adjust.' She had plenty of experience travelling, sure, but all of that was aboard a pirate ship. This is space, and there are so many questions she has.]
[Once she feels comfortable, she decides to use the communication device to reach out. At the very least, touching base with everyone here couldn't hurt.]
Good evening, everyone.
I'm Eleanor Hume. I was recently transported here to be a part of this 'show.' I can't say that I'm happy about this, but I'm going to try to make the most of it.
I look forward to meeting all of you. If there's anything you need, please let me know.
[Action]
[Eleanor is spending most of the week getting used to life on board the Wonderduck. Most of her time is spent between the armory and the bridge of the ship, but she's making occasional visits to the kitchen, too.]

[Eleanor peers at Velvet suspiciously. It's not that she doubts her friend's word, but there are very legitimate concerns about who's running this place and what kind of power they have.]
[Nevertheless, Eleanor is still grateful.]
Since you've been here longer, I might need your advice. And I'm happy to see you again.
Video
Sure. But if you need advice on any of the technology here, I don't know how much I can help.
[Even after a month it's still strange. Though her augment helps with navigation and ship related things, at least.
Eleanor's words make Velvet a little curious about her timeline, though. "I'm happy to see you again," like it's been awhile. But Velvet's not sure it's something she wants to talk about over comms.]
Are you still on the Marsiva? Or did they move you already?
video
[But she's not going to bore Velvet with any of that. There are more important things to discuss, the kind of things that would be better discussed in person.]
I'm on the Wonderduck. Are you able to make it out here?
video
[She's getting pretty used to using them at this point, and her docking has improved some.]
I'll be right there.
[No point in waiting, right?]
video -> action
[And true to her word, Eleanor heads over immediately. It's taking time for her to adapt to life in space, but she's familiar enough with the ship's interior that she can find the docking port.]
action
She hops out of the shuttle and spots Eleanor.]
Hey.

[Eleanor waves to Velvet as she disembarks. As unsure as she still is about this 'space' business, having friends she knows is comforting. Doubly so considering the extenuating circumstances.]
Would you like to go to the kitchen? It should be easiest to talk there.
no subject
[Velvet's not picky, really, so where ever Eleanor is most comfortable is fine with her.]
no subject
Would you like anything?
[Even if Velvet couldn't taste anything, it felt rude to not at least offer her something. It had nothing to do with Eleanor potentially avoiding the conversation, or being unsure how to start it.]
no subject
She shakes her head when Eleanor speaks.]
No, thanks. I can't taste space food, either.
[She does take a seat, though.]
What did you need advice on?
no subject
All of it. I've asked about the Atroma and why they brought us here, but nobody seems to have the answer. After everything that happened with the Abbey, I want to be cautious.
[And she takes a small pause, trying to find the right words.]
And I wanted to talk to you, too.
no subject
[She doesn't really believe that's the only reason, but she's willing to believe that their kidnappers probably find it pretty damn funny, so there might be some truth in it.]
No one seems to know who they are or where they are. They're pretty good at hiding.
[She tilts her head a little, studying Eleanor.]
Are you from later in our timeline, too? Like Eizen.
[She knows this place makes things weird. Eleanor doesn't need to feel too awkward about it.]
no subject
[This seems like a lot of effort to go through for 'entertainment,' but Eleanor can't deny that there would be something entertaining about a group of strangers in an enclosed space.]
[But if they're able to take so many people, they must be powerful. Eleanor can believe they have the ability to stay hidden.]
I take it we're out of leads for the moment.
[She sighs. Eleanor doesn't like feeling powerless, but she doesn't have a choice here.]
I believe so. The confrontation with Innominat was several months ago for me.
no subject
[She sighs, resting her arms on the table and leaning on it a little. Time to focus on the awkward time stuff.]
I haven't faced him yet. We were on our way when I ended up here.
[She knows they won, though. Eizen told her, even if he didn't go into detail. And she knows from Sorey that Artorius was forgotten by history. Which is something, at least.]
no subject
[On the one hand, Eleanor could fill Velvet in, but on the other, it didn't feel like her place. If a situation arose where Velvet needed to know, that would be a different story, but for now she's going to keep her lips sealed.]
[There's a part of Eleanor that wants to confront Velvet about her decision, but that decision was Velvet's alone to make. If nothing else, Eleanor can respect that.]
Are you doing okay?
[It's an honest question. It would be an honest question before Artorius, and it's still an honest question after Velvet's spent a month trapped in space.]
no subject
Yeah, I guess. This is all a little strange.
[Space and ships and weirdly advanced foreign technology. It's been a lot to deal with, honestly.]
What about you?
no subject
['Little' being an understatement, but what could you do when you were spirited away to space with no say in the matter?]
Speaking of strange, have you met Edna? It seems that Eizen's sister, along with several other Malakhim, are also here.
no subject
Yeah, I know. There's a Shepherd, too. He's a vessel for all of them. They're from the future.
[Velvet is surprisingly calm when she mentions the Shepherd. She's had to time to come to terms with the future use of that term. And besides, Sorey is hard to dislike.]
no subject
[Well, you've got Eleanor there. Even as someone who once respected Artorius (and respects his ideals in theory), she's surprised to hear of one among them.]
[Velvet's reaction is much more downplayed than what she would expect, too.]
You seem very calm about this.
no subject
[And Zaveid hated that abbey as much as any of them.]
It's...different in the future, I guess. Whatever we did worked. He'd never even heard of Artorius, even though he's using the title he created.
[Honestly Artorius being forgotten by history is pretty satisfying in its own way.]
no subject
[Eleanor had never thought of Zaveid as particularly choosy, but given everything the Malak had been through, she's surprised.]
After everything the Abbey did, I'm relieved to hear that Artorius' legacy was lost.
[In a kind of bittersweet way, almost, because he was once her personal hero, too. But being forgotten is probably the best she could hope for, lest somebody else try to free Innominat.]
I wonder what role the Shepherd plays in the future, then. It sounds like their titles are similar in name only.
no subject
"Like" isn't a strong enough word. Zavied adores him.
[She shrugs, resting her chin on her hand as she leans on the table.]
I don't know much about his role, though. You'd have to ask Sorey.
no subject
[As much as she hated to say it, the idea of a new shepherd, a good shepherd, was exciting. As much as she disapproved of what the Abbey had done, she chose to join because of their ideals. Maybe this new shepherd was similar.]
[It's probably not a conversation Velvet would enjoy, however, and they had more important things to talk about.]
Do you have any questions for me?
no subject
Can you tell me...is Phi all right?
no subject
[But she knows that Velvet faced a tough decision, too, and that's something still weighing on her mind. Ultimately, the only thing that Eleanor can do is tell the truth, even if she's leaving out a few key details.]
Yes, he's alright. You'd be very proud of him, I think. He's grown up, and he's making his own choices and leading the life he wants.
[As difficult as it is for Eleanor, it's the truth. It was his decision after all, as bittersweet as it was.]
