CRIMES Part 2
Who: Isabela Grace and her crew of ne'er do-wells. Open to friends and friends of friends.
Broadcast: None
Action: Various across the belt (see prompts)
When: Throughout May
Notes: Continuation of Part 1.
{{ Robin Hood Up In Here }}
With Nami's sleuthing, they've managed to find a pretty juicy target. The asteroid Danoth is a small little uninhabitable rock on paper, but it's a warehouse for the Baron Pritchard Calarook, whose primary security is its secrecy (now foiled).
Raider ships are outfitted with a handy dandy stealth drive, so they're past the meager defenses before anyone there knows, so it's just a matter of a) infiltrating the place, b) evading or disabling the security force, and then c) profit.
Isabela Grace is going in through an air vent with the assault team.
{{ Slaves Aren't Cargo, Mate }}
Part of the the Baron's hold is apparently devoted to slavery. Grace's good mood at having taken the facility and browsing through hold after hold of weapons and riches is visibly tarnished at the discovery of a whole wing of people. Talk to her then or-
* * *
-later, after she's released all the slaves on Meston with a pretty substantial percentage of the warehouse loot. She doesn't want them to just get picked up again and sold back into slavery. It's not because she's nice, though, she'll insist. It's for these other reasons that she just doesn't feel like sharing with you this very moment. Shut up!
{{ Drinks are on Me! }}
After a good heist all around, and a few trips to fence off the remaining goods, even split between everyone in the group (with a bit extra for Grace) still leaves everyone pretty happy. Drinks are on her in Telluria!
{{ All Good Things }}
It seems that the Baron Pritchard Calarook doesn't take kindly to being robbed blind, so the first indication that things might be going to shit while everyone gets drunk is the Aveline getting blown to shit. He's a well connected man, and he's tracked then down and sent a gunship and a small battalion to make an example of everyone.
Oops.

All good things YOLO
--that can't be good.

That's rather cynical, maybe someone is just throwing us a celebration and got overzealous.
[ Suddenly gunfire started raining through the walls and ceiling. Grace dived behind the bar, hoping it would provide at least some cover. ]
Really really overzealous.
no subject
If that's the case, they can stop any time now! [She yells it over the bar, then ducks back behind it in a hurry at the retaliation, screwing her weapon together.] Oh, well. I guess it was too much to ask for he'd just applaud how smart we were and move on.

You don't become a massively successful warlord without having an ego and pride to match.
[ The first batch of assault troops burst in through the backroom, heavy armor and heavy weapons. Grace shot the first one point blank through the face visor before he even knew what was happening. ]
no subject
...or not.] Can you keep from being shot full of holes for fifteen seconds? [Thus spake the empty air.]
no subject
Can't promise that, but do whatever it is you're planning anyway.
[ She couldn't become invisible but she could pull a smoke grenade out. They worked even better than the smoke grenades back home. She pulled the pin and rolled it around the bar, quickly filling the small space with thick plumes of grey smoke. ]

[She's gonna find her way outside, don't mind about her, because once those bubbles do their thing it's the people still outside that are gonna be the real trouble.
Thus leaving Isabela alone. (Or Summer. Or Grace.) The shots have lost their accuracy, at least, and there's more than a few people coughing, but they're kinda pissed. And the smoke has the added effect that none of them are really looking up at the innocently bobbing bubbles. That have tiny little clouds in them. That... fades into the smoke cloud.
Really, you couldn't have pulled out a better move to compliment that if you'd tried.
Give it another ten seconds, and there's distinct sparking going on up there. With all the gunfire, the bubbles popping one by one is going to go completely unheard.]
Slaves aren't cargo - after
Still. It's good to witness it with his own eyes. To know it's not a fluke. He smiles softly, coming to stand beside her. ]
Awful thing for your reputation, this. Twice now, isn't it?
no subject
[ She wondered how he'd found out about that. But maybe a Rivaini captain letting loose a shipload of slaves near Kirkwall lent itself to stories. Obviously, she hadn't tried hard enough to stamp that out. ]
no subject
Of course you don't.
[He puts a hand on her shoulder, rare initiated touch from the elf. ]
It is still a good thing. This thing you absolutely have not done.
no subject
The past stays in the past. The good just as much as the bad.
[ That's how she slept at night, anyway. ]
no subject
Of course. But it comes out sometimes anyway.
[He glances off into the middle distance, the way the former slaves had gone. ]
They will certainly never forget it, though.
no subject
The past and I have a lot in common, then. Refusing to do what we're told.
[ Her gaze follows his. ]
Who cares what they think? They better not get kidnapped again, is all I have to say. They're on their own now.
no subject
[His lips twitch upwards, just a little, as he returns the gesture. ]
I am sure they will be careful not to allow themselves to fall into the wrong hands again. So long as they keep themselves sharp.
no subject
I think it's time to get very drunk, what do you say?
no subject
no subject
That way we can start a barfight and ruin a lot of rich prick's days.
no subject
You always know how to make my day.
no subject
no subject
That much, I can do. I'll even buy you a few drinks.
Slaves Aren't Cargo
Slaves. Maker damn that man.
no subject
[ A very unhappy surprise, with a lot of bad memories attached. This is how she lost her last ship, dealing with this. She presses a button and the hold door closes back down. She leans against the door and puts her hand on her face in frustration. ]
no subject
[It's not a question of what to do, where Riona's concerned. It's in how to do it.]
no subject
[ A revolt was not unlikely at all. ]
no subject
[Riona nods.]
It'll be tricky, but we can do it. If we explain we're here to help... well, they might not buy it, but we need to get them out of here.
no subject
[ She claps her hands. ]
Well, sounds like you're on top of it. I'll leave you to it.
no subject
[SIGH]
I am not doing this alone. This was your misadventure.
no subject
You know, as Queen it's all about delegating, right?
no subject
Fine. But if you try to leave and dump this on me, I will hunt you down.
Drinks Are On Me - So After All This Stuff
But, anyways, turns out coming on this heist had been a good thing. He didn't feel the least bit sorry about what they had done, and he already had some nifty little tid bits he planned on broadcasting as soon as he could. He had no idea if it would help, but it was something.
He came to Isabella, handing her a beer as he took a seat and gave her a wry little smile. ]
If you're not careful, they'll start calling you Robin Hood.
no subject
Unless the population of this belt has more overlap with your world's fiction than mine, I have doubts.
[ AKA who the fuck is Robin Hood? ]
no subject
There is debate on if he existed or not, but the basics are he stole from the rich and gave to the poor. Crime committed for a good cause.
no subject
Do you have any other folk heroes who steal from anyone for the purposes of making themselves rich?
no subject
Well, I'm sure Robin Hood kept a little bit for himself. I doubt anyone's quite that altruistic.
[ A shrug. ]
For all one knows that's what he was out to do, it just never quite worked out that way.

Well, I think he was some kind of nobility before he came a thief. Like someone usurped his position.
