Who: Signy Mallory and Open
Broadcast: Yes, first part is open network, second part is ship comm
Action: Wonderduck
When: Shortly after the shuffle
Open Network - Video
[ There’s a young-looking woman with silver hair and serious eyes addressing the network. ]
I know that people here come from all sorts of walks of life, but I’m wondering who else has a military background. It seems like there are some things we’d be able to help each other with.
If you can, list your rank, name, and the nature of the service.
For myself it’s Captain, Signy Mallory, and it was a space ship, close to a thousand personnel under my command.
Closed Broadcast to the Wonderduck
Some of you may be aware of the fact that I was a ship’s Captain where I come from, and I have my ideas about how to run a ship now that I'm Captain of this one. I keep a tight hold on my crew, and if you disobey my orders — of which there will be more than you’re likely accustomed — you will face discipline.
If that’s likely to be a problem for you, you’re welcome to take a transfer to another ship. In fact, I would encourage you to.
For those of you who are staying, I’ll be in touch with updates to the ship’s rules soon.
[ If that sounds ominous, it should. ]

voice;
[ Although the Downers had certainly seemed on the harmless side, even in Signy's view. ]
voice;
[Although there are now elves and half-elves and aliens and all kinds of things he has to learn about here.]
voice;
[ It's hard for her to know how to take this. ]
Re: voice;
No. We're practically immortal so we don't got a real reason to go around fightin' each other unless one of us wronged the other one.
voice;
[ They're spirits, it seemed logical. ]
But don't you wrong each other a lot? Humans do.
Re: voice;
Re: voice;
[ Or boring, but certainly different. ]
Re: voice;
[Definitely boring for most of it.]
Until a two years ago, I didn't have a physical body other'n my sword, so it was a lot of sitting around alone.
Re: voice;
[ A soft exhale. ]
That sounds like hell.
Re: voice;
[It isn't something he likes to talk about. Centuries of slowly dying as his blades rusted or lying unused and forgotten in storage is enough to drive anyone insane.]
It probably would be for humans, but spirits tell time differently. It wasn't that bad.
[That bad.]
Re: voice;
Re: voice;
[That's as non-committal as he can get.]
Would be better if I had somethin' to fight.
Re: voice;
[ The enemy is out there. ]
Re: voice;
The moment we get a chance, I'll carve them apart, but until then, I don't got a lot to do.
Re: voice;
Re: voice;
He likes the sound of that.]
I'm a sword, Captain Mallory. I'm always ready.
Re: voice;
[ An inclined head, despite the audio only nature. Her tone is pleased, at least. ]
Keep your eyes open, then, and let me know if you spot anything that looks like a weakness on their part.
