[ Oh my god it was a joke! He can do that now. ]

I'm not going to make promises either way.

So not only do I get to have TV cameras watching me 24/7, I have you, too.

[Huff. Sam folds his arms over his chest and looks a little indignant.]

You make it sound like I'm going to be monitoring you all the time. Sounds like too much trouble.

[ He's not into that babysitting thing, no matter who it is. ]

I mean, that's what I think, too. But what else is there to do in space, really?

[It's an honest question. How the hell do people pass the time here?]

You find a routine that works for you.

[ He shrugs a shoulder. ] The Iskaulit has a gym, a library, a few bars.. Might want to pick up a hobby or two.

Sounds like a real exciting place.

[There's a momentary pause, and then Sam glances at him.]

[Not like a murder hobo?]

[ That's what happens when you're stuck here for a while, buddy. ]

It was a compliment! Like, hey, good job recovering from that whole scrambled brain problem and becoming a functional human being again.

[Well. Mostly functional.]

..Right.

[ Recovered is definitely the wrong word to use, but things are.. better. Certainly more stable in the fleet than at home. Hard not to heal when surrounded by so many people who genuinely care. ]

[Well, no, not recovered. Sam knows that from his own line of work - and from his own experience. Better really is the more accurate word to use.]

When I have something to say, sure.

[ He's never going to be chatty, and he doesn't see the need in wasting words. People don't seem to have a problem that they carry most of the conversation. Talking for the sake of talking is something he doesn't really understand. Not everything needs words. ]
