Business as Usual. Probably.
Who: Nami and you
Broadcast: Fleetwide
Action: Space Bar, Iskaulit
When: Day after Shuffle. (A few days after the Marsiva was v. rude.)
I'd say it was really intimidating to know the Marsiva has that kind of weaponry, but honestly it's overkill. You gotta wonder why they didn't use it in defense of us when the raiders came and went, don't you?
Or not. [She can think of a few viable reasons. Mostly it comes down to: the Atroma are manipulative jackasses.]
Anyway, I'm not here to be bitter. We've lost a lot of people the last couple weeks, which may or may not be a coincidence. [But Nami, you just said--] The Space Bar staff has taken a hit and we're short one bartender. If you're stir crazy enough you'd like to try your hand at it, drop me a line. The pay's good, I'm not a slavedriver. Much of one.
[Pause. And then deliberately cheerful and kind of... tone deaf, all things considered. If you don't know her well.] All that aside, great party, wasn't it? At least there's that. I had a lot of fun with a lot of different people. Drop on by and I'll tell you all about it, it'll make for good blackmail material for your crew.
[Because hell if she's going to pass on even the most innocent of messages over this thing.]

i could use something to keep me occupied but i'm not an expert yet
text;
If you want to come in and give it a test run feel free
[She understands the need for occupation, totally. Plus honestly she could really do with more women on staff, she's drowning in guys. :T]

oh is there an age requirement though

Aha, if you were asking for a cook, I'd be qualified. Still, some stories might be fun.

But stories, I can do. Come on down.
[Spoilers: she doesn't actually have any stories.]

[Asuna nods.]
Is now all right?

[The feed cuts off, and about fifteen minutes later, Asuna pokes her head into the bar, a little hesitant, since she's never actually been there before.]

Well, if Jarvis's place kicks off we shouldn't be getting as many food orders. Which means I probably won't be as busy in the kitchen and could swing both roles if needed.
[Action]
[Nami may have left a note in Vash's little pigeon hole in the kitchen. She can at least tell him what the fallout was from the incident and that there were survivors, huh?]
I'm not replacing Jarvis, though. [Precisely because of the food issue.] So if you can run the kitchen that'd be great. If I do need someone in an emergency, I know I can rely on you.
Re: [Action]
Yeah, I think I got a handle on the kitchen so no need to worry about that! And I promise if you do ever get someone new in not to do a trail by fire type training.

What does this job of yours entail?
[Since, you know, monster hunting is probably right out. And that's been like 99% of her job experience so far.]
Video
....aren't you the weirdo that was beating your ship up, like. Two days ago. /squint]
Being charming and congenial. Taking orders from customers. Knowing the difference between different kinds of alcohol. Knowing when to cut someone off. It's standard bartending work.

[She'll take a moment to give that some thought- on the one hand, it definitely wasn't ideal, since the one type of "service" she was most used to provided involved more punching and fighting than any sort of customer interaction. On the other, well...the last place she'd wound up, she had been forced to occasionally take jobs that were worse than what Nami was describing.]
If that is all there is to it, it sounds acceptable enough. Catering to the wishes of others, but within set boundaries. Serving without being expected to degrade myself, yes?

[But she's got a feeling that won't be a problem all the same, really. The fact Nami's established any rules for treatment of the staff means she's not likely to cross any lines herself. Hopefully.]
I have not. But as this fleet does not seem to have regular difficulty with rebels, marauders, or monsters, I am prepared to seek other employment.

I can cover more shifts if until you get someone else.

And, uh... I'm sure a lot of people assumed the Marsiva would be armed, but that was... more than what I was expecting, anyway. But more spacefaring types might not be so surprised, I guess.

I've seen weapons like that before. At least as powerful. But I hadn't heard of anything like it here.

Either way, it doesn't really surprise me at all that a ship we know nothing about would suddenly manifest weaponry. It's the least surprising thing about it so far.
no subject
What's the most surprising thing then?
