Business as Usual. Probably.
Who: Nami and you
Broadcast: Fleetwide
Action: Space Bar, Iskaulit
When: Day after Shuffle. (A few days after the Marsiva was v. rude.)
I'd say it was really intimidating to know the Marsiva has that kind of weaponry, but honestly it's overkill. You gotta wonder why they didn't use it in defense of us when the raiders came and went, don't you?
Or not. [She can think of a few viable reasons. Mostly it comes down to: the Atroma are manipulative jackasses.]
Anyway, I'm not here to be bitter. We've lost a lot of people the last couple weeks, which may or may not be a coincidence. [But Nami, you just said--] The Space Bar staff has taken a hit and we're short one bartender. If you're stir crazy enough you'd like to try your hand at it, drop me a line. The pay's good, I'm not a slavedriver. Much of one.
[Pause. And then deliberately cheerful and kind of... tone deaf, all things considered. If you don't know her well.] All that aside, great party, wasn't it? At least there's that. I had a lot of fun with a lot of different people. Drop on by and I'll tell you all about it, it'll make for good blackmail material for your crew.
[Because hell if she's going to pass on even the most innocent of messages over this thing.]

....aren't you the weirdo that was beating your ship up, like. Two days ago. /squint]
Being charming and congenial. Taking orders from customers. Knowing the difference between different kinds of alcohol. Knowing when to cut someone off. It's standard bartending work.

[She'll take a moment to give that some thought- on the one hand, it definitely wasn't ideal, since the one type of "service" she was most used to provided involved more punching and fighting than any sort of customer interaction. On the other, well...the last place she'd wound up, she had been forced to occasionally take jobs that were worse than what Nami was describing.]
If that is all there is to it, it sounds acceptable enough. Catering to the wishes of others, but within set boundaries. Serving without being expected to degrade myself, yes?

[But she's got a feeling that won't be a problem all the same, really. The fact Nami's established any rules for treatment of the staff means she's not likely to cross any lines herself. Hopefully.]
I have not. But as this fleet does not seem to have regular difficulty with rebels, marauders, or monsters, I am prepared to seek other employment.

[Her tone is noticeably cooler on that score, even if she's still casual about it. It might just be a sore spot.]

Then I have no reason to believe this would be an unacceptable arrangement. Are there any other terms I should be aware of?

[She already got one request she's less iffy about, but the pure fact of the matter is staff drop like flies in places like this. There's no harm in picking up another to cover the gaps.]

[She might be taking this way more seriously than most, but where she comes from that sort of thing is pretty important.]

[There, now Sayid can't say she's averse to compromise. Though that concession's made out of equal parts a desire for efficiency and also to avoid any reminder that she's a princess working at a bar instead of, say, conquering a planet somewhere.
Still, she'll show up at the appointed time, even if she does have to turn her shoulders a bit just to fit through the door. Your prospective employee is kind of massive, Nami, and the fins on that helmet of hers just barely missed scraping the doorframe.]

Her massiveness does give Nami pause, but she continues working as Looma comes in, and her tone is mild.]
You should know that I'm a pirate, and I don't give a damn about rank any which way. Especially when it holds no meaning on the Fleet. I respect people who respect me. That's it.
[She's blunter than usual, but lady you want to work for her and this attitude throws up all kinds of red flags right at the outset. So better she know now if this is gonna be an issue.]

I fail to understand what rank has to do with anything. Even if this fleet did respect that much, you are human and we are not on Khoros.
[She's mostly just concerned Nami might assume this arrangement means she can be overly familiar with her when she's not working at the bar. If she ever required someone to yield to her demands in that situation, she resorted to same methods everyone else had available. Even if she did favor the more forceful ones.]
All I require is for you to understand when I am not working here, I am to be treated as you would any other. Including not being addressed in an overly familiar manner, or as if I were still at your command. Whatever you wish to answer to will be honored just the same. It is a matter of respect.

That, I can do. That's just common decency. [Though she idly wonders if this Princess has any friends.] C'mon behind the bar and I'll show you where everything is.
