What was this?

Kairi blinked before sitting up on her bunk, rubbing her hands over her arms. She felt cold, even though the air wasn't especially chilly. But something was missing, and it only took Kairi a moment to notice that she was alone, at least from what she could see. No voices or anything, just the distant hum of machines.]

Hello? Is anyone there?

[When no one answered, she brought her knees up to her chin and wrapped her arms around her legs. As much as she didn't want to admit it, Kairi was a little scared. Yen Sid hadn't even told her anything; the last thing she remembered was just arriving there and being greeted. Surely he would have given her some kind of instruction before sending her off on her training? She had hoped Riku would be with her during her training, too. But he was nowhere to be found. Neither was Yen Sid, or the King, or anybody. She was completely alone.

Be brave! I can figure this out, she thought.

Taking a deep breath, she looked around, trying to see if there was anything around that could help. That's when she spotted the communicator off to the side.]

What's this? A phone?

[It... sort of looked like one. As she picked it up, she wondered if there was some way to call someone and ask for help. If it was a phone, then she should be able to, right? Because she had never handled any kind of tech quite like this, she had no idea it was recording the whole time. While she randomly pressed at buttons and tried to figure out the communicator, she then realized that it was already doing something. Specifically, sending a call (or so she guessed).]

Hello? Can someone hear me? Please, if you can tell me what's going on, where I am... I'm not where I'm supposed to be, and I really need to go back. It's really important.

[A moment. Thinking she's on a regular phone, when she doesn't hear someone respond, Kairi's expression became crestfallen.]

Please.

[She sighed, trying hard to keep her spirits up as she pressed a few more buttons. Unintentionally, she ended the broadcast there.]

I - you know, I'm not sure. I don't know if I ever got the hang of it, but I can try. Hang on.

[She sets the communicator down, opting to focus on summoning her Keyblade. Her hand outstretched, Kairi puckers her brow and tries to summon it to her.

Nothing.

A frustrated sound crawls up her throat, and she tries again. And again. And again.

Still, nothing.]

I don't - usually I can sense something, at least. But there's nothing.

[limitstorm]

It's okay--it's fine. [ riku exhales. it's not her fault. ] Sora can't do it, either.

He's here, he's just... [ he avoids her gaze. ] ... asleep. Again.

Sora's here, too?

[The communicator is back in her hands, her expression excited, at least until Riku follows up with the bad news.

For a moment, Kairi wants to just put her head in her hands and just... she didn't even know. Cry? Yell?

But she'll do neither. She refuses to let her hope be crushed. So she keeps her smile on her face, as hard as it is.]

That lazy bum. It's a wonder he sleeps at night anymore, with how often and how long he naps. I'll give him a good lecture when he wakes up.

[With that, she does let her smile fall a bit, but only because she has a serious question.]

Riku, what's going on? Where are we?

[limitstorm]

[ hm... he sits down. ]

We're in space. Far away from home. You're on the mothership--the Marsiva. Sora and I are on one of the smaller ships around it--the SS Bloodsport.

Okay... So I'm on the big gummi ship, and it's surrounded by smaller gummi ships. But how did we get here, and why? I remember Yen Sid talking to me, and then... I woke up here. It's a little strange.

[limitstorm]

[ he shakes his head then. ]

No clue. We don't know much about the people who brought us here.

[destinyembrace]

That's odd. This isn't... Xehanort's doing or anything?

[limitstorm]

[ ignore the way riku's face darkens a little... ]

No. It's not--he's not here.

Well that's good... I think. [A pause.] So what are we doing here, then? On these ships? There has to be a reason, right?

[ uuurgh he doesn't want to have to say this... ]

We're here for whoever took us--it's like we're putting on a show.

[Kairi covers her mouth to muffle any terrified sounds that might come out. A horde of Heartless coming? Bring it. War that'll decide the fate of all the worlds with a guy who time travels for shits and giggles? Sure thing. But someone watching her while she's in the shower? NOPE.]

--h-hey, wait, I don't know about that!

[Kairi pauses her internal shrieking. She lowers her hands, looking cautious.]

[limitstorm]

Y-yeah, I'm not sure about that. I know for sure they've got to watch us when we're doing normal stuff, but--

There's... gotta be some kind of outer space law against that.

O...okay.

[Her cheeks are a little red from embarrassment, but for now, she seems pacified.]

I'm sure you're right. That would just be wrong.

[Ehehehe...]

So, what kind of show are we supposed to be putting on?

Something 'entertaining', I guess... it's not like we're in a musical.

No song and dance routines?

[She had to, okay]

Still, I think I'd do that if it meant being back home.

[limitstorm]

[ chuckling... ]

What, seriously? I don't think I'd sing or dance for that.

[Riku, this is no time for pride!]

Has to be better than being stuck here. Besides, I think you'd do fine.

[But it does bring up a problem.]

But Riku, if we're stuck here, then what's going to happen back home?

[You know, that pesky war that's coming up...]

[ ... hm. riku looks down, and shakes his head. ]

I don't know. I've wondered, too, but... I don't know what we could do. If you fly too far away from the mothership, I've heard you get blown up.

[Blown up? Holy crap...]

There has to be a way off here. Maybe if we fly by a world you or Sora have been to...

[In the meantime, they're gonna have to hope the others will be okay, and Xehanort doesn't start anything until they're back.]

Well, maybe Xehanort will wait. He can't have the war unless we're all there, right?
