What was this?

Kairi blinked before sitting up on her bunk, rubbing her hands over her arms. She felt cold, even though the air wasn't especially chilly. But something was missing, and it only took Kairi a moment to notice that she was alone, at least from what she could see. No voices or anything, just the distant hum of machines.]

Hello? Is anyone there?

[When no one answered, she brought her knees up to her chin and wrapped her arms around her legs. As much as she didn't want to admit it, Kairi was a little scared. Yen Sid hadn't even told her anything; the last thing she remembered was just arriving there and being greeted. Surely he would have given her some kind of instruction before sending her off on her training? She had hoped Riku would be with her during her training, too. But he was nowhere to be found. Neither was Yen Sid, or the King, or anybody. She was completely alone.

Be brave! I can figure this out, she thought.

Taking a deep breath, she looked around, trying to see if there was anything around that could help. That's when she spotted the communicator off to the side.]

What's this? A phone?

[It... sort of looked like one. As she picked it up, she wondered if there was some way to call someone and ask for help. If it was a phone, then she should be able to, right? Because she had never handled any kind of tech quite like this, she had no idea it was recording the whole time. While she randomly pressed at buttons and tried to figure out the communicator, she then realized that it was already doing something. Specifically, sending a call (or so she guessed).]

Hello? Can someone hear me? Please, if you can tell me what's going on, where I am... I'm not where I'm supposed to be, and I really need to go back. It's really important.

[A moment. Thinking she's on a regular phone, when she doesn't hear someone respond, Kairi's expression became crestfallen.]

Please.

[She sighed, trying hard to keep her spirits up as she pressed a few more buttons. Unintentionally, she ended the broadcast there.]

[Well. He presumes they won't get actively murdered by the audience. Fenris got away with murder--literally--and the audience didn't vote him off the island, as it were, so Axel had to think that wasn't within the scope of their ability. Atroma, however... Atroma had brought them here, so Atroma could send them away, and who knew if they would get sent home or sent to some sort of... limbo? Ugh, he really didn't want to think about it.]

I'm not sure how long, honestly. I mean a TV show is finite, right? So... it can't be too long.

Yeah, that's a good point! It can't last forever. People would get bored. So they'll send us back eventually, right?

[Maybe this won't be so bad. Maybe.]

So we'll just have to ride it out until then. We've both been through worse. [Him more than her, to be sure.]

[Well, she survived better than he did, but who's counting, right?]

I guess, ah... I mean, if you need a hand with anything, gimme a holler. [He looks a little awkward about this.] I already told Riku I'd try and help him out if I could, so... that goes for you, too.

Exactly! We'll be fine.

[The offer is touching, even if a little surprising. Not that she didn't think he'd help... she just never expected him to say it out right.]

Thank you. Knowing you and Riku and Sora are here... it helps a lot. It's a lot less scary. Will we always be on different ships, though?

[He looks a little embarrassed, like the gratitude makes him uncomfortable, and pulls at the back of his neck. It's not like it's a big deal, folks from the same place should stick together, right?

[He's grateful for the question, realigning the topic a little.]

You'll be on Marsiva 'til you get assigned to one of the smaller ships, but it shouldn't be too much longer. Once you're assigned to a ship, you can transfer if you want, so wherever you wind up, you could move to the ship Riku and Sora are on, if you wanted. Sora started out on my ship and moved to Riku's, so... you won't have to be separated.

[He understands, he really does. It was really great having Roxas around, it made the ship feel a lot more comfortable. Home isn't where you are, after all, it's who you're there with.]

Oh okay. So is this just where newcomers go until they're assigned ships?

[That's her guess, anyway. Why else put her here if she's just going to go elsewhere?]</small?

Bingo, it's just where we all are when we turn up here. Don't be too excited about getting assigned somewhere, though; Marsiva's got way fancier facilities than the rest of the fleet.

I don't mind a downgrade in facilities, if I get to be near friends. Besides, it's... eerie in here. Too many machines and not enough people.

Yeah, it was definitely a little creepy, I'll give ya that.

[He opens his mouth as if to correct her--'No, it's Axel'--but then stops and just sort of smiles. He guesses if she knows him by the name he has when he's whole, maybe that's something he can let slide.]

Ah, really? If you can, that'd be great! I never had a phone with a game on it before....

Sure thing. Just gimme a holler when you get assigned to a ship and I'll drop by or something. It's nothing fancy, just like little block shapes you can stack and line up--the communicators don't really have the capacity for anything extravagant--but it's a good way to kill some time.

[Yup he totally found a way to hack TETRIS onto his communicator. Go, go, communication augment!]

[Axel actually laughs. He wasn't expecting her to really make a list. He shakes his head.]

Don't worry too much, Kairi; I'm not taking icky jobs like that anymore. [Grin~] Cross my heart.

Hmm, I suppose not. We'll just have to wait and see, but I guess there's not too much trouble you can get into on a ship in the middle of space.

Oh, that sounds like a challenge, to me. Maybe I'll surprise you~

[He feigns injury, clapping a hand over his chest and shaking his head.]
