Captain's Log 10 - Sound the Bugle Now
Who: Jim Kirk + You
Broadcast: Yes; everyone
Action: The Tourist
When: Now
VIDEO
[ When Kirk's face appears on the screen, there is a weariness to him. Had his eyes been red rimmed one might have thought he had been crying. Maybe he had and he just hid it well. His shoulders slumped ever so slightly, and there was no joy in his eyes, or a smile hiding in the corner of his lips. In fact, for a few solid heartbeats he says nothing, just looks into the camera as if waiting for someone to stop him from what he is about to say. ]
For all those that knew him, Leonard McCoy has been returned home.
He will be sorely missed.
[ Kirk looks like he wants to say more. Knows he should say more. Captains needed to say more and be strong for everyone else, that was what they did, but he couldn't. Not this time. It was to much this time.
So he just takes a breath and reaches up, shutting off the feet. ]
THE TOURIST
[ His message sent out, after exhausting all possible reason for him to be elsewhere and unreachable, Kirk slumped in the chair he sat in, resting his forehead against his clasped hands. For a long moment his room is quiet, almost deathly so - ]
DAMN IT!
[ The shout, followed by the sharp crash of glass shattering against a wall, the wet slop of liquid hitting the floor. Then silence. ]

Re: video
[ At least he's spared some people some trouble. It was what a captain should do - bear the burdens, so his people didn't have to. ]
Yeah, all right. Won't make a promise of good company though.
video
Want me to meet you there or on the Tourist or here?
Re: video
There is fine. I need a moment to, ah, be presentable.
[ You know, look less like a hot mess with puffy eyes. ]
video
[It wasn't really a risk.]
video
Didn't start without me, did you?
action
I wouldn't dare. I did pour the drinks awhile though. [She lifted a glass.] In honor of Leonard.
Re: action
[ He came over, settling. He looked tired more than anything else, like he wanted to take a thousand year nap. He lifted his own glass and looked to her, reaching out and clinking them together. ]
To Leonard.
[ He tossed the drink back in two swift gulps and slammed the glass down, wiping his lips. ]
Mind if I have another?
action
Help yourself. I'll make sure you get back to you ship alright if you need to.
Re: action
[ He gave her a grateful smile. He wasn't prone to excessive drinking, but his mood for it tonight was just right as he poured out another measure for himself. ]
What's Dax think about this?
action
We're both going to miss him. I mentioned he saved Emony Dax, years ago, right? [Did she? She can't remember.] So we're... a bit attached. To him.
Re: action
[ He still wasn't sure what to think of the shared memory thing. A previous friend who had been here had had a similar thing as well, the memories of eons pressing down on him, clear and perfect, voices screeching in his head. He couldn't imagine it, though it didn't seem to negatively effect Ezri in any way. ]
Sounds like something he would do. He says I have a hero complex, but if you ask me, he has the biggest one of all.
action
You both just chose different ways to be heroes.
Re: action
[ He knows who you mean Ezri, gosh. He looks down into his glass, making a soft huffing sound. ]
He's saved my life more times than I can count...
action
Re: action
I suppose that's true. I can't ever get even for the big one though.
[ He looked to her somberly. ]
I died, once. Really died. No heart beat. Nothing. Massive radiation poisoning. And he brought me back to life, with minimal damage.
action
[She smiles a little.]
He's a doctor. And your friend. Of course he did. I always knew he'd be a fantastic doctor.
Re: action
[ He smiled a little at that too. she had the right of it, even though the two of them sniped at each other over it all the time. In his heart, he knew he would do what it took to protect Bones or help him, no matter what, and Bones would do the same. That was family. ]
I'm not sure doctor covers it. That was a straight up miracle, and I know it.
action
[She'd never been a doctor, Julian might understand better.]
Re: action
He would. But then he loves arguing, so I'm not sure if that says anything about his agreement or not.
action
Re: action
Oh, he argues about that a lot too, but honestly that's a lost cause because, well, it is me we're talking about.
Re: action
Re: action
Hah, that is true. Honest and consistent. Not sure what more you can ask for.
action
Re: action
Hah, well he's that too, so I guess I really do have it all in him.
