[ another month; another mingle. but there are changes in the air! the starstruck has some fresh crew to boast of, as well as a spiffing new lounge. things have been difficult, lately -- the common area might make for a great place to decompress and socialize with your fellow starstruckers.

after all, it seems the captain's gone and requisitioned max's record player. for the first week in june, it'll be returned again and again to the new lounge. good luck hiding it from her, rockatanksy.

[ he pulls a chair for her, leans against the table and waits. ]

We have chairs for a reason, you know.

[Fine, Dad. Maintaining steady eye contact, Natasha slides off the counter and carries her coffee over to the chair.

Like a cat slowly jumping off a piece of furnature it knows it's not supposed to be on.]

You know, I was going to offer you a cup of coffee.

[uprightness]

It's very sweet of you.

[ he remarks as she sits down and not without a smile. something in what he and natasha have, their form of friendship, might seem like frosty work relations to some who won't know to see it for what it is.

much like a glacier, the unmovable part of their friendship is just beneath the surface, between the lines.

he got his way so he'll make his own coffee. fair is fair. he warms the water, reaches for the tin. ]

Well. I was already stealing your coffee anyway. Least I could do is offer to make you some too.

[She doesn't stop him from making his own, though, tucking her feet under her chair and sipping.

Her stony look does crack when he smiles, too.]

How are you doing? Thought I'd check in on you and Peggy—seems like you've acquired yourself some more crew.

[ he sits next to her, cup of coffee and two space apples in hand. vibrant purple but still not bad, if he says so himself. he places her one and takes a bite off his. ]

It's all Peggy, she was pretty busy lately.

[ he leans back in his chair and shrugs. ]

I'm kinda glad that she was. it's nice to see a lot people again; for a while it was so quiet.

[ a bit of a grin ]

When are you planning to finally say you're sticking around?

[outstandingbalance]

I bet she has been. Seems like she's always working—getting you the best crew she can.

[Natasha takes the apple, smiling by way of thanks for it.]

I don't know about joining though. It's tempting—you'd have a good line up. But I wonder if it's not better for us to be spread out. If something happens... on the one hand, we're all in one place, but on the other hand this way I know I have friends on Starstruck to coordinate with. And it's probably a better perspective.

[If Tony comes back, she means. She doesn't say it, but if he comes back after the Accords and Natasha seems to have already taken a side against him, if he doesn't feel like he has anyone in his corner... it's something Natasha thinks about.

The first answer is serious, business. To soften it, Natasha adds:]

You sure you really want me around, Rogers? You don't like me sitting on the table, imagine what else you might not like.

Who knows, might have finally helped with getting some manners.

[ but natasha does as she will and steve both respects and accepts it for it. often times they parted ways only to come together again when the occasion calls for it. this is hardly the farthest they've gone from one another and it's alright. ]

[Natasha shoves him with her toe under the table, not quite kicking.]

You know you like me this way—I don't think you'd know what to do with me if I was sweet and polite.

You're hardly sweet and polite now and you're still off my counter.

[ he tries to reach for her foot without success. alas. ]

Obviously, we can find a compromise.

[Teasingly, nudging him again, gently.]

You never know what I might be doing up there when you're not around.

I rather not think about it.

[ it just might make him shudder. ]

Things have calmed down a bit. Same for your ship?

A little. Everyone's been pretty subdued the last couple of weeks. We did pick up a new girl, though.

She's a little sketchy, but I think she'll settle down.
