everybody's starstruck in june.

Who: starstruck crew & visitors
Broadcast: n/a
Action: aboard the ship
When: june

[ another month; another mingle. but there are changes in the air! the starstruck has some fresh crew to boast of, as well as a spiffing new lounge. things have been difficult, lately -- the common area might make for a great place to decompress and socialize with your fellow starstruckers.

after all, it seems the captain's gone and requisitioned max's record player. for the first week in june, it'll be returned again and again to the new lounge. good luck hiding it from her, rockatanksy.

ready steady go! ]

No problem. I'm supposed to do maintenance- soooo I guess I'm kind of like a janitor, ha ha... oh, but I do get little robots to help me! So if you see any of them rolling around, just let them do their thing.

[Huh. And here Rip had been thinking there might not be any jobs he could hate more than his own.

But the girl speaks of it with good cheer; enough, even, to warrant a slight grin from Rip as she warns him about her little helpers.]

Let the robots do their thing—got it. [He even goes so far as to give a mock salute of sorts with the spatula, tipping it in her direction.] Is there a great deal involved in the general upkeep of the ship?

[It's an answer Rip already knows in part; he did, after all, keep command of a timeship for well over a decade. But he's curious how that might apply to the Starstruck; all the glitz of the controls and décor aside, he's really got no idea how old the vessel is, or what it's general maintenance requires.]

Oh, yeah, actually! I take care of some of the basic ship stuff, nothing as fancy as the engine or anything, but like- pipes and air filters. So if the oven won't turn on or the sink gets backed up, just give me a holler and I can fix it! ...I mean, probably.

And do things like that happen often? [He's aware his perspective of the ship is biased; Rip is used not only to a different brand of technology, but a different ship in particular. He'd captained the Waverider for over a decade; it stands to reason that he would know nearly every quirk of his own ship.

The Starstruck is an entirely separate thing, of course. While Rip's been focusing on teaching himself some of the more complicated systems, engineering and piloting, the smaller ones might equally have their own issues.]
Backed-up sinks and uncooperative ovens, I mean.

...Not... too often. Just enough to be occasionally annoying.

[/THE MOST HELPFUL ANSWER!!]

Don't worry, though. Usually the fixes are pretty quick and easy, so it doesn't end up being that much of a problem.

Thank goodness for small favors, I suppose.

[Although Rip has discovered his tolerance for all things annoying to be a bit thinner than usual. Still. Ochako's youth and personality both might keep some of that in check.

Maybe.]

Then what do you end up doing with the rest of your time? If you don't mind me asking. [While Rip's own schedule is rather full at the moment, from lessons in cooking to self-led study of ship systems, he's aware it likely won't be that way forever. Moreover, moving about a ship on one's own is quite different from being surrounded by others. He's hardly alone on this vessel; Rip equally has to learn how to cohabitate with the others, right along with piloting and food preparation.]

I don't mind at all! I had some trouble at the start figuring out what to do, so I know it can be tricky. Actually, I spent a lot of time messing around in the kitchen, trying to see what flavours I could get out of the supplies here, so if you ever need help, just ask away.

As for actual ideas, um... well, I did some training. I'm learning how to fight back home, and practice is important! It's good to pick a hobby, or keep up whatever you did back home... there's another ship, the Iskaulit, with a few places to hang out and do some fun stuff! There's bars, a library, a garden, oh, and an art club!
