[ Maglor is sitting in one of the rooms just off the garden in Iskaulit - a dark room, where a small little sapling is glowing. Yes. It's not your imagination. The little tree is glowing. (So is Maglor, but the fleet should be used to their glowy elves by now). ]

Milady Makie is asleep, so I thought I should make this announcement on her behalf - as per the wishes of Doctor Beverly Crusher, we thought it would be good to have a memorial in the gardens for those who leave us. The tree is still very young, but you are welcome to come and leave candles or simply to sit and remember. The gardens remain open to all, as well, despite the good Doctor leaving.

Please feel free to come and if you wish to help, anything would be welcome.

[ He reaches to turn off the feed and then pauses ]

Ah, and if anyone wishes any forgework done, the forge should be finished, soon. Please contact me, Sokka, or my brother Maedhros or cousin Fingon, if you wish anything.

Oh, yeah. [She'd just related it to him because, well, he was glowing too.] Bioluminescence because they grew in the dark. Making light where there isn't any. Definitely seems like a plant that looks at the bright side of things. Good for a memorial. [She seems solemn as she says so even if it's a hopeful thought.]

That is well - I wonder if they were native to our last stop, as... well. Most of the locations were anything but dark.

[Softer.] Winn would have liked it. [The highest praise coming from her. It takes her a moment to continue.]

Mm...With plants I mostly just knew which ones were poisonous and that really only applies at home.

[ His eyes soften in memory and understanding ]

Mm, that is much the same for me. I know which I can eat, and which are useful for salves and healing, but not much more than that! All I really know how to do for this little one is water it from time to time, and sing to it.

Water is good. Singing to trees is new to me. [But Winn would like that too. Kind of hard not to think about him with a memorial tree right there.]

[ He grins at her sheepishly ]

I do not actually know if I am helping with the Song. But I thought it could not hurt, so...

Man kills tree with song. Definitely a headline I've never seen. Do you sing a lot?

Mm - in my own world I was... am, a bard. Of some renown, if I do say so myself.

I cannot not sing, is perhaps the more accurate phrase.

So, you probably made a lot of money at our last stop?

[ His smile makes him look younger, less burdened by age and grief (it makes the family resemblance with Finrod more obvious) ]

Enough to ensure that we will have a working forge before our next stop. So if you need a blade, or metalwork done, we will be able to to do it here, now.

I'm good for now. [She deploys the claws from one of her gauntlets and three metal blades shoot out from their hiding place.] Erik managed it before he left. [With her help building the mechanisms since she knew how it was supposed to work even if her world's Erik had made it in the first place.] But I'll keep it in mind.

That is clever! A weapon from your own world?

Yeah. I mean, this one was recreated here, but it was custom designed for me. My mentor had the real thing.

Did your mentor invent these then?

He helped, but mostly he had naturally occurring ones. It was part of his mutation. They come right out of his skin. I get to skip the painful part.

That....sounds incredibly painful, yes! I confess I thought these were merely a weapon they used!

It came with accelerated healing. [That doesn't mean it's not painful, but she says it like it might comfort him. Happy to let him misunderstand if he wants.]

They're just a weapon for me. Fully detachable.

[ Maglor says dryly. Elves heal relatively fast too, after all. It still hurts. ]

But as weapons go, tis a very clever design indeed. Ideal for close combat, too.

It's been good for me. The metal we found is strong, but it's nothing like my original set. There's nothing quite like adamantium.

Adamantium? I don't think I know that metal. One specific to your world, I take it?

Well, I don't know. I guess it could be. [After all, it's hard to know what's shared and what isn't. ~~But it is super fictional, so yes.~~] Or maybe you just have a different term for it. Then again if you call iron, iron and steel, steel, and copper, copper that would be weird too.

[ He laughs softly ]

A pity! I wonder what it would be like to work with. And so far as I know, we do name them that way, yes.

Hard. Because it's extremely hard. It's not easy to work with, but once you get it in place it's just about indestructible.
