[ Maglor is sitting in one of the rooms just off the garden in Iskaulit - a dark room, where a small little sapling is glowing. Yes. It's not your imagination. The little tree is glowing. (So is Maglor, but the fleet should be used to their glowy elves by now). ]

Milady Makie is asleep, so I thought I should make this announcement on her behalf - as per the wishes of Doctor Beverly Crusher, we thought it would be good to have a memorial in the gardens for those who leave us. The tree is still very young, but you are welcome to come and leave candles or simply to sit and remember. The gardens remain open to all, as well, despite the good Doctor leaving.

Please feel free to come and if you wish to help, anything would be welcome.

[ He reaches to turn off the feed and then pauses ]

Ah, and if anyone wishes any forgework done, the forge should be finished, soon. Please contact me, Sokka, or my brother Maedhros or cousin Fingon, if you wish anything.

[ Maglor can be found anywhere in the garden, tending to basic chores, or in the room with the little sapling, singing softly to it of growing strong and bright. ]

It is a sapling from the gardens of our most recent stop, yes, although in truth I do not know if tis native to this world either, or only a transplant itself. Still, it seems to be coping well with the move to date!

It reminds me of the luminous stones you can find around Hyrule. Only on a much larger scale.

May I visit even if I don't yet know of anyone who's left?

[She hasn't had time to look at the Iskaulit gardens either, and there's no time like the present.]

[True to her word, Zelda gets into a shuttle and heads for the Iskaulit. She emerges into the garden barely half an hour after their conversation, turning her head this way and that. The glowing sapling draws her in ultimately, along with the man seated beside it.]

It looks even prettier in person.

[ Maglor lifts his head from where he had been singing to the sapling of a white tree in bloom and smiles at her ]

Lady Zelda, welcome! And it does, does it not? The glow is more true, in sight.

[She's no longer in such finery as the dress from the party; now she's back to wearing her travel clothes. It makes it much easier to kneel next to the sapling, peering up at its young branches.]

It is, though it's still marvellous to be able to see someone through these devices even when they're so far away. It doesn't quite compare to the reality.

Indeed so! I am grateful for the convenience but there is something unsatisfying without touch.

There's only so much information you can get from a picture. To really understand something, come to grips with it, you must see it from all angles. Use all of your senses.

[She lets out a short breath, sitting back on her heels.]

But it isn't always about information. An experience doesn't need to serve a purpose.

Even so! But as you say - sometimes, the experience is it's own reward.

[ He smiles at the tree fondly ]

And hopefully this one will continue. It seems to be rooting well.

Is it hard, to grow things in a vessel like this?

The main problems, I believe, are soil and sun, neither of which are easily available on these ships! But as you can see, we make do as best we can.

This one does not - I wonder if it is too large? So you can see where they put in sun lamps.

It is large, from what I have seen.

[Even larger than the Divine Beasts, which to Zelda's mind were the most immense moving things she had ever seen. Those were also ancient beyond measure, and nothing like them had been built since.]

And this one flies without a pilot, does it not?

So far we know, yes. There may well be a pilot, of course, but I think it more likely to be slaved to the Marsiva.

[Her mouth twists a little at the phrasing, not something she's familiar with. She thinks she understands what he means, though, and it would make sense given what she has seen so far.]

The Marsiva has control over where any of these ships go, doesn't it. While the other ships have pilots of their own, they can be overridden? That's why we all left the asteroid worlds at the same time.

It does - and I do not know. I would assume so! But you would have to speak to the actual pilots, I think. We have very limited control.

I really should. [She's been remiss in not introducing herself properly to her shipmates.] And that would suit these Atroma, wouldn't it. Not letting us have control over our destination.

They are clever that way. [ he grimaces ]

Give the illusion of control without the true ability to have any significant change.
