[Awhile back, she'd toyed with the idea of building a replicator in the hopes of making clothes and more palatable food available to the fleet. And it had taken since about then for Ezri to find all the parts she would need. It might not be incredibly efficient at first but she could improve it gradually once she finished.

Off and on over a couple weeks, she worked at it in the cargo bay and, today, she turns on her communicator with a smile.]

I've been working on a little project lately and I should finish today, I thought I'd share my progress.

[She sets it down, tilted towards the device she's working on and gets back to work. About ten minutes later there's a loud BANG and the immediate area starts filling with smoke. She's quick to smother the cause and then mutters a curse.]

I've been a scientist and and engineer- that should have worked.

It is fascinating to learn about, all the same.

You get to see a lot of it now though. And I'm sure your world still has plenty of wonders in store for your lifetime.

I do! I am most fortunate. It is quite incredible to see, I am learning things I never thought possible before.

[He considers this. He hasn't seen outside for a decade, but still- ]

I never had a chance to see it last time I was on Earth.

Luckily for me, my heart is currently non-existent. [A pause. ] My literal one, anyway. My metaphorical one is working just fine.

Oh, does that mean it stands still, in the future? This is wonderful to hear.

[Still a little strange. At least he doesn't have to worry about being stabbed?] I'm glad at least one works.

It does, humanity thankfully tries to preserve historic and architecturally significant locations.

That is good to hear. It would be a shame for such an exquisite building to vanish into history. Though with it housing the royal family, I don't think it would really go anywhere.

I'm not sure it's housing much of anyone actually. There are no royal families on Earth anymore.

[He'll just remain in blissful ignorance. It's fiiiine. ]

I'm sure descendants still carry on but United Earth doesn't need different countries and families vying for power. So after First Contact and the formation of United Earth, they're lead by the Prime Minister.

Oh, how...interesting. [So weird. SO WEIRD. ] So there is...one person? In charge of all of Earth?

More or less. Each country has a leader to handle politics there but the Prime Minister handles the affairs of Earth in general.

What an interesting way to run things. And there is no in-fighting because of this?

None. At least not anymore. Global unification is necessary for members of the Federation. And, I think, after World War Three, conflicts among the countries of Earth came to a halt.

...There were three world wars????

Unfortunately. [She won't mention the Eugenics Wars being tacked onto WW3.]

After that though, the only wars Earth was really involved with were with other species.

[Best not, his mind is blown enough as it is. ]

So...with other planets? [Earth, can you stop fighting all the damn time? Come on. ]

[She feels a little bad.]

A couple of them. Otherwise, conflicts that come up by my time are the Federation and Starfleet against other people. [Can't stop won't stop]

[At least he likes learning? There's that. ]

So your people are military as well? [He's trying, he really is. ]

[Definitely helps.]

Not really. We'll fight if we have to but we try to be... above that? If we can.

I understand. You mostly exist for peace, no? That is...a noble duty to have.

We try to. The entire point of symbiosis among our culture is to learn and understand more, to experience new things. We can't exactly avoid war but we aren't go to seek it out.

That sounds like quite the wonderful way to learn. That way, nothing ever gets lost, memory is a living thing then. It can't really die or be forgotten. It's...very nice.

[He nods.]

Good. War never leads to anything good, if you can avoid it, it is the best course of action.

And none of us are ever really forgotten, we live on in our symbiont.

[She feels like he'd manage in Starfleet pretty well. Not entirely sure what he'd do though.]

It doesn't but sometimes they give us no choice.

I am glad for that. To think, hundreds of years from now, you can still live on in someone else. That means that beautiful smile of yours will never be forgotten, hmm?

[Anything with diplomacy. He's got a Grade A in calming moody royals down. ]

No. Sometimes, it is the only option left. A shame, but that's how it is.
