Dragon!
Who: ANYONE!
Broadcast: If you want
Action: The forest outside of town!
When: Ambiguously around the 23rd
→ Before the mob
[Tek has run out of time. he's pushed his body and spirit to its limit, and his hold over himself finally slips. he's quiet about fleeing the city, but it's a different story once he reaches the wilderness. the sudden release of energy as he loses his human shape hits the atmosphere in a silent wave. the countryside shivers as an aura of death and malaise touches every living thing, even if only in the very back of the mind. and for those more sensitive to such things... it's clear that something has happened. something is here.
for those wandering the forest that day, they may step into an area of the forest gone still with a graveyard hush. and if they linger there, they might happen upon a monstrous beast.
he's keeping to the tallest, deepest copses of trees... because it's hard to keep hidden when you're the height of a three-story building. either creeping and looming between the trunks, gratefully wading into streams, or curling up to rest in roomy clearings, he's there.
and he's hideous. though not actually rotting, the creature is at least designed to look cadavorous. he doesn't appear overtly aggressive... but something looking like that must be far from harmless.]
→ After the mob
[and he can only stay hidden for so long. a band of foresters eventually happen upon him, and a battle inevitably ensues. it isn't long before the remnants of the group run howling into town-- a dragon is less than a mile away, and it has already struck down several of their number!
at once, the bravest warriors take up arms, ring the alarms, and begin to set out in bands to take down the monster!
anyone striking out to find the dragon after the battles have begun is definitely in for a fight, because he is now wounded and angry. and, since he's so large and caught in such a small area of land before he hits the barrier, he won't be hard to find--especially whenever he breaks the canopy of trees and takes flight, to try and find another area of forest not already full of attackers. if you watch the sky and follow him long enough, you're sure to find him.]
(ooc: open to absolutely anyone! just take a look at the ooc post first, and then jump in! also open for any peripherally-related threads--like reacting to the creepy wave of feeling that goes through the town, gathering friends, etc.--if you feel like it!
if you have any other questions, dump 'em in the ooc post!
otherwise, DRAGONFIGHT DRAGONFIGHT!!)

[he looks over the ground again. sighs. the whole thing... really is an awful mess.]
The only thing I know for sure is that this ground... This'll seep into the earth for years, contaminate anything that tries to grow here. It's like it's been cursed.
no subject
Quite. At least where I came from magic can be incredibly permeable to the environment. Once something like this takes hold it will likely perpetuate for years. Perhaps centuries. The energy it must have taken, however...
[The pause says all he needs to. It was considerable, which means there was a lot more to this dragon than just a large beast]
Dispering this will take days at the rate you were going.
no subject
Can you blame me for trying anyway?
no subject
Not at all. These people shouldn't have to suffer any more for our presence.
[He looks down a moment, scuffing the blackened dirt with his shoe in thought. He can't be sure their approach is compatible, but doing nothing when he might have the power to change it seems a worse crime that whatever violence happened out here.]
If you're intent on handling it yourself, I might be able to help.

An area dispersal. It should be possible, though I'm not sure I could do all of it once. Dispersals usually take multiple people, and it would be much easier to accomplish if there were physical boundaries to work with, such as walls.
[Felix bends to pick up a long stick, broken off in the chaos]
Meaning I'll need to construct one. If you help me in drawing a circle, I could eliminate large patches of the magic at a time. It won't reverse anything, mind you, but it will allow things to heal naturally.

If there's anything I've got covered, it's drawing circles. [a joke. about his magic. not that Felix would know that.] Between the two of us, this might not be so bad.

As are most tasks. [He smiles thinly] Though magically speaking it may be somewhat akin to a running a marathon.
[He sweeps his stick around at the blasted area]
We may as well start here? It will have to be a large circle. Don't worry if it isn't perfect. And then, if it works, you can get to any spots I might have missed in between.
no subject
[but hey, he's on board. he calmly walks across the blighted grass, picking up a fallen branch of his own--the leaves long since curled and fallen away.]
no subject
No more than forty feet across, I'd say.
[Felix starts to pick his way to pick a likely spot to mark as the center, for reference, then sinks his own stick in the dirt there.]
You can measure from here.

[with at least the semblance of a small smile on his face, he'll get to work. he really is very experience in magic circles, so this is nothing big for him. maybe they'll actually get this area cleaned after all...]
no subject
Once the lines connect, haphazardly or otherwise, he ambles back to the center.]
I'd be curious to hear more about your methods when this is over, if you don't mind me asking, that is.
no subject
Sure, we can talk shop... It's not as though I've any reason to keep it a secret, at this point.
no subject
[There could be a lot of reasons for that, from simple habit to vows of silence. His tone isn't judgmental but one of quite curiosity]
no subject
Some people get nervous around those whom magic comes to easily, is all. If there's no reason for it to come up, I'd hardly want to force it.
no subject
[He usually didn't have to. The tattoos on his arms did that talking for him back home.
He spreads his arms a bit.]
Well, let's see if this proves effective. Unless you plan on joining me, I'd suggest you stand outside the circle, in the event it reacts adversely with you.
