Dragon!
Who: ANYONE!
Broadcast: If you want
Action: The forest outside of town!
When: Ambiguously around the 23rd
→ Before the mob
[Tek has run out of time. he's pushed his body and spirit to its limit, and his hold over himself finally slips. he's quiet about fleeing the city, but it's a different story once he reaches the wilderness. the sudden release of energy as he loses his human shape hits the atmosphere in a silent wave. the countryside shivers as an aura of death and malaise touches every living thing, even if only in the very back of the mind. and for those more sensitive to such things... it's clear that something has happened. something is here.
for those wandering the forest that day, they may step into an area of the forest gone still with a graveyard hush. and if they linger there, they might happen upon a monstrous beast.
he's keeping to the tallest, deepest copses of trees... because it's hard to keep hidden when you're the height of a three-story building. either creeping and looming between the trunks, gratefully wading into streams, or curling up to rest in roomy clearings, he's there.
and he's hideous. though not actually rotting, the creature is at least designed to look cadavorous. he doesn't appear overtly aggressive... but something looking like that must be far from harmless.]
→ After the mob
[and he can only stay hidden for so long. a band of foresters eventually happen upon him, and a battle inevitably ensues. it isn't long before the remnants of the group run howling into town-- a dragon is less than a mile away, and it has already struck down several of their number!
at once, the bravest warriors take up arms, ring the alarms, and begin to set out in bands to take down the monster!
anyone striking out to find the dragon after the battles have begun is definitely in for a fight, because he is now wounded and angry. and, since he's so large and caught in such a small area of land before he hits the barrier, he won't be hard to find--especially whenever he breaks the canopy of trees and takes flight, to try and find another area of forest not already full of attackers. if you watch the sky and follow him long enough, you're sure to find him.]
(ooc: open to absolutely anyone! just take a look at the ooc post first, and then jump in! also open for any peripherally-related threads--like reacting to the creepy wave of feeling that goes through the town, gathering friends, etc.--if you feel like it!
if you have any other questions, dump 'em in the ooc post!
otherwise, DRAGONFIGHT DRAGONFIGHT!!)

well i mean someone has to
Heed me, friend. I mean you no harm.
[Hands frozen in place, he remains still, though his gaze softens to something fonder.]
Indeed, it would be a crime to harm something such as you. I am nothing more than an admirer.
[He doesn't know if it will understand him. Doesn't know if it recognizes his soothing tone. But it's worth a shot. He offers a wary smile.] Do tell me you won't punish me for something so innocent.

--no, tails. probably forked, leaving two lashing ends to express the beast's displeasure. and after a moment, it rolls its massive body up into a crouch, moving as easy and quick as an enormous feline. it's not a friendly stance, by any means.
but it doesn't attack.
and as its head leans in, dangerously close, there's a bit of a cant to the angle of it. annoyed, certainly, but it may be listening.
go on, little mortal. you have its attention.]
no subject
You can understand me?
[He laughs, bites his lip, and then for lack of anything else, bows.] Forgive me for any disturbance I've caused. I meant no offense, only praise. Never before have I met a creature so grand. Surely, your majesty is so overwhelming, even nature must bow! How could I not stop and pay tribute?
[So, he's laying it on a bit thick. But it's true!] Still, I fear you'll have to forgive my ignorance. I've no idea as to what you are. A god, perhaps?
[He says it as if it's a joke.]
no subject
its eyes flatten in mirth--little amused slits of light. and the rumble that follows is deep and hollow, the beast breathing out cavernous chuckles that make the earth shudder. it booms and rolls, and the shivering branches around seem to laugh with it.
hopefully it's a good sign, and not an immediately dire one.]
no subject
See? I was hardly exaggerating. The earth trembles before you! [This time it’s a joke, said with arms outstretched.] Though, [he gives a pointed glance to the trees] you might want to stop before the trees bow a bit too low.
no subject
Mattias is worried about the trees bowing too low? well...
the dragon gives a haughty lift of its chin, and slowly spreads its wings. and as it does so, sepulchral energy shivers out, slithering through the air and sinking into the world around it.
and as it hits the leaves and branches, they begin to... wilt.
slowly radiating out from the beast itself, the forest visibly begins to choke and die.]
no subject
The darkness couldn't just be damning.]
Stop. Stop! [Lost in his franticness, Mattias forgets himself. Takes a step forward when he should take one back, hands pinwheeling in front of him.] Stop! Your point-it's been made. A truly impressive display worthy of-[Nightmares. Destruction. Darkness kills.]-of legends! Myths! Indeed, no king could sleep soundly with thought of your power!
[Please, just stop killing it. Stop proving them right.]
no subject
instead, he makes a mental note to teach him the nuances later. for now, he'll just take a little petty joy in the intimidation of it.
it has been so long since a mortal has paid him this kind of tribute.
he folds his wings, and the trees cease their creaking, though browned leaves occasionally flake down through the air like ashes. and the beast finally sits up... bringing him up to his full height over the little man.]
no subject
Thank you.
[Simply enough the act is forgiven. Who is he to question a higher being? At this point he's fairly certain that's what the creature is. What other animal could be capable of understanding human speech?] Demon's breath, you are gorgeous, aren't you? [He chuckles, wanting more than anything to touch the beast but thinking better of it. If the teeth alone weren't a powerful dissuader, the recent display of death certainly was.] Proud, too! Not that you'd have any motive otherwise. You've done full well in displaying your power.
[He's repeating the same words over again, he realizes. Running through a short script written in the spur of amazement. For a minute, he falls silent, and then, finally, something comes to mind.] Are there others like you?
