Action/Open
Who: Furiosa and You?
Broadcast: n/a
Action: First Breath
When: Today throughout July
[Someone's back from her coma. It might be hard to tell, because she immediately disappears into her quarters (not hanging around on the bridge, as usual, or working on the battered shuttle).
One other indication that she's back; she quietly delivers her gift basket - unopened - to the galley. It's yours for the taking. Among the usual items, it also includes candied grubs, a scarf and goggles, and a little toy car. Either she didn't want these items, or more likely she didn't bother to open it in the first place.
If you want to check you'll have to ask her yourself, which might be easier said than done; after the calibrations themselves, and post-coma grogginess and fatigue, she's not going to make herself available as much as she usually does. You still might be able to catch her when she has to make a trip to the galley, as necessity dictates, or if there are any captain duties that require her attention on the bridge.]

Furiosa. Captain and pilot.
Lab tech, good. We've needed one of those. You got any experience?
no subject
It's how he rolls.
He puts the pot down once it's boiling before nodding, turning his attention to Furiosa as she goes. Is this an interview? It sounds like an interview.]
Yeah. I was a lab tech for the Central City Police Department back home. I would process evidence from crime scenes.

Admittedly, she's running a little lax there simply because she's been recovering from the mental exhaustion of the calibrations.
She sets down her plated paste and starts the coffee brewing.]
How are you with medical?
no subject
Not normally my area? But I do know first aid and I can work on reading up on stuff.
[He wants to help! Whatever helping that may entail. Just ... don't expect him to be performing surgery anytime soon.]

I'm good in action too. I'm basically an all purpose lab tech.

Doughnut?
no subject
Okay. Do you fight?
[He's otherworldy fast, she can see that, but the question is; how does he use it?]
no subject
Usually my thing is to restrain and evade, but throwing a punch at super speed can be very effective and if I have enough room to go fast enough I can also throw lightning.
no subject
[Lightning, though. That's something.] Lightning, really? How is that a thing?
[This is her being personable.]

Have you ever stood on a carpeted floor wearing socks and rubbed them back and forth for a bit before reaching over to shock someone?
[He asks like it's an obvious thing that everyone has done because he is a nerd.]
no subject
No.
Didn't ever have carpets.
[Or socks, really.]
no subject
Well, when you do that, the friction between your feet and the carpet creates something called static electricity, so called because the charge itself is stationary and doesn't really go very far. In terms of electricity, the space from your feet to your arm is minimal. But when I run, I'm moving so fast and am generating so much friction, that the charges are a lot bigger so I can essentially throw them across longer distances.
[A beat.]
It'd be easier to show you if I had the space to demonstrate, but if I tried to do it here ... it wouldn't be a good idea.

[She takes another sip of coffee, pokes around at her protein pastes.] Is this sort of thing normal for your world?
no subject
Not really, no. I'm this way because of a freak accident.
no subject
[As much as she can see. He's certainly talking about it with some enthusiasm.]
no subject
You gotta do what you can with the cards you're given. And if this means I get to help people, then I'd rather help them than do nothing. There were a lot of metas that didn't have the same chance.
no subject
Metas? What do you mean by that?
no subject
[Because mutants was taken.]
no subject
[Indicating that Furiosa herself wasn't, of course, but she's been here long enough to not be freaked out by it.] That sort of thing common?
no subject
Not that common. But they're powerful enough to make an impression.

Good! I definitely want to pull my own weight, you know?
