So, uh... month's almost over. We'll leave soon. There's lots of... weapons for sale, here. Thought I'd offer lessons, if people... want to learn new skills. If you bought something, or have something... you want to buy, can help you learn it.

[he nods! looking perfectly friendly, but still not wandering any closer. just a touch more space between them than he gives most people.]

Oh yeah, super weird.

I mean... I guess some parts of it are nice? But still pretty weird.

And I miss all of my... [and he just kind of gestures vaguely to his own face, where his piercings and pointed ears are being hidden by the modulator's effects]

[He's still staying so far away, and Cass understands why but not the reason behind the why. She hasn't done anything to him, as far as she knows. A bit awkward, she rubs a hand over the back of her neck. What's the best way to talk to someone that's afraid of you?

But the way he gestures to his face has her smile staying strong, keeps it right on her face where if he hadn't done that it probably would have melted into some sort of vaguely uncomfortable kind of expression. This will work, though.]

Makes sense. It's not fair, going through everything... to get those, then have them hidden. I'd miss them too.

It's just weird. I've had them for so long, my face feels... naked without them, I guess.

[and wary of her or not, awkward or not, Nel's defensively-cheerful smalltalk train does not slow down.]

It's kind of cool seeing what other people would look like, though. Like, if they were all normal humans or whatever. Some of them look so different, you know?

[She nods, because she does know what he means.]

Have to wonder... how many are relieved. How many have never... fit in, before. If they're happy... to fit now.

[he stops to really think about this, and his attention temporarily wanders away from the fact that he'd been intimidated. his shoulders slacken while glances up somewhere, mulling it over.]

Lots of people never fit. This could be... their only chance.

...A lot of people wish they were human, I guess. [and he, of course, means that literally. it's what stands out to him about it the most.]
