[Laura hated when the fleet was drifting. She hated feeling trapped inside the ship, she hated knowing if she wanted to go anywhere she needed to borrow a shuttle, and she hated the constant feeling of being surrounded by metal.]
[All that frustration tended to make her restless, so...she wandered. A lot. And didn't really sleep much. Is it three AM? There's a good chance the captain was wandering the ship again, just pacing from one end to the other, or trying to work out in the cargo bay then...back to pacing.]
[She's sorry if she wakes someone up, at least...]
B - Slugs
[When she finally stopped wandering she could often be found in the cargo bay, sitting on the floor with one of her slugs perched in her hand or on her shoulder. They calmed her down, really. And she needed that. Come be calm with her.]
C - Trying to captain
[She still wasn't really sure entirely how to BE captain, but, well, she was doing her best. And part of it meant knowing how the crew was, right? So. She tended to try and figure that out. Sometimes she asked? Mostly she watched. A lot. It was probably creepy. So, did she ask, or is she staring again?]
[Feel free to tell her to stop.]
D - Wildcard
[Come at me Laura can be anywhere really.]
b;;
When he runs into Laura, he's on his way back to the ship to try and sleep. The last place he expects to see her is in the cargo bay. ]
Hey, Captain. You uh. Have something on your shoulder.

[She was already looking over at Carl as he approached, what with those creepy senses of hers. The slug just shifts a bit on her shoulder but otherwise doesn't seem to care he's there.]
How is your father?
no subject
[ He approaches and joins her on the floor. ]
no subject
Maybe he will wake up soon.
[And then she lifted the slug off her shoulder and offered it to him.]
no subject
[ Carl takes the offered slug, letting it crawl up his arm. ]
This is weird. Not bad, just.. weird.
no subject
It should relax you. They relax most people.
no subject
I think it's working? You said 'most people'. What happens with the others?
no subject
[Laura had not seen that, only heard about it.]
That's what I was told anyway. They could not stand the slugs.
no subject
[ Just look at this brightly-colored doofus just chilling. How can you hate it? ]
no subject
I think they were allergic to whatever it is the slugs do to calm people down.
It was not their fault.
[Did she mean the slugs, or the people? Hard to say.]

no subject
Yes, it is.
[She stood up then, and turned to the two tanks, opening the 'dry' tank and reaching in. After a moment, she drew her hand back with a smaller, orange slug resting on the back of it, and then shut the tank and turned to sit back down.]
They are a great help when we are...between places.
no subject
Is this what you do with your free time? [ Not that he's judging, he just doesn't see her around much. ]
A
He walked from his bunk to investigate.]
Do you always take midnight strolls with the intention of waking your crew?
[Ardyn wondered what was bothering the woman.]
no subject
Sorry.
[She finally said.]
I did not mean to wake anyone.
no subject
Do not apologise, my dear. We all have our inner daemons that keep us awake at night. Literally.
[Not revealing anything at all, Ardyn.]
Would you like to talk about it?
no subject
I just don't like being trapped on the ship.
no subject
[Sorry about this guy. He likes to spout poetic sentences.]
no subject
Yes.
[Well, at least she agreed?]
But I do not think they care.
no subject
Alas, they do not, yet we can care. All of us living together in these cramped spaces, fighting for air and freedom. Enough of us can overwhelm them. How many of these Atroma are there? Nobody knows.
[He hoped there were more of them than there were of the Atroma at least.]
Ardyn Izunia.
[He offered her a curt bow. Even in the middle of the night Ardyn's manners always stayed with him.]
no subject
[She already knew his name, what with the stalking she tended to do of the crew, but she'd been keeping to herself too much lately. She didn't comment on attacking the Atroma because she'd thought about it a lot, and could never come up with any ideas that didn't get everyone killed. She was a little too frontal-assault oriented.]
[Hm.]
Do you need anything?
[She was captain she was supposed to ask that right?]
no subject
There are many things I crave and want, yet most are quite impossible here. My world back, my Magitek troopers beside me, a room with a comfy bed and view over the Altissian cityscape. None of those can be achieved unfortunately. As for needs closer to home, I would like some plumper pillows? Would that be too much to ask?
[This guy has come from an Empire, fuelled by greed and power and he was used to luxury.]
no subject
Maybe.
[It probably was. Although not while they were drifting.]
You did not buy anything at the last world?
