[It's been a pretty crappy month for Fenris, most of it his own doing. He'd been hoping September might at least find some semblance of normalcy again. A little quiet and calm to collect himself once more. He should have known better- Atroma is very good at making sure that sort of thing absolutely does not happen.]

Kirk is asleep, and will not wake, so I assume this is Atroma's doing. I will do my best to take care of the Tourist until he wakes, but I will need some help running the Space Bar until Nami returns to us. It will be rather tricky to manage the two.

[He might not sleep well, but he still needs to try and DO that. Plus he absolutely does not trust Atroma to not do something awful while Kirk sleeps. Given everyone's weird nightmares recently, he'd put good coin on something awful happening, in fact. It's his job to make sure no one dies horribly or the Tourist gets set on fire in Kirk's absence, and it's one of the few jobs he'll actually take seriously.]

[There's a really, really petty part of Riona that wants to say "serves you right" and make a face at him. But 1. that's really childish and 2. well, it's pretty mean, too. She's not so cruel as to rub this in his face.

Still, it leaves her wondering what to say, or if she should say anything at all. She's not sure where his head's at, and maybe she won't be a welcome sight.

[He's not in the best place, that's true. Still, as much as he's unsure how she feels about him any more, she's not an unwelcome face, far from it. ]

Especially given I cannot shake the feeling Atroma are planning something. Those shared nightmares cannot be a coincidence.

Aren't they always? [She always assumes they are.] I saw someone on the network mention having one, but I didn't realize how widespread it was. Did you have one?

No, I did not. Something I am grateful for. I have enough nightmares already, I do not need Atroma adding to them.

I'm glad to hear you were spared. If mine's any indication, they're not pleasant in the least.

[Since Pavel quite likes talking to Fenris, they happen to live on the same ship, and it would be nice to do something that doesn't involve dwelling on how remarkably disheartening existence in the fleet tends to be, he drops by in person rather than replying to the video. Hope you're cool with company while you're trying to prevent the Tourist from going up in flames, Fenris.]

Do you foresee yourself entering a coma in the very near future?

[He is not at all joking.]

[There's a small handful of people Fenris tolerates dropping in on him unannounced. Luckily for Pavel, he's one of them. He's on the bridge,
still sitting on his own chair and avoiding Kirk's as much as possible.
That would feel a little too like taking the man's place.
He's only captain until Kirk wakes, after all.

He offers Pavel a tired smile as he enters.]

I certainly hope not. But I do not trust Atroma not to be troublesome. We are near a signing planet, and those tend to have a certain element of danger to them. I do not wish to be distracted from my duties in keeping this ship and her crew safe.

I am sorry you have to suffer them. I hope they will at least serve as a warning, perhaps something that can help you, should the worst happen on this planet.

[He doesn't trust it one bit. ]

I've been... looking out for the place that was in my dream. If you see a forest with dead plants and red-leaved trees, don't go in, whatever you do.

[He commits that description to memory, giving a nod. ]

That sounds...deeply concerning. Do you believe they could be a real threat?

With Atroma, it's worth considering. Normally I don't put much stock in dreams, but considering I'm not the only one who had one...

That is true. Given they happened to a number of people, it could well be a trap. Or a warning.

Probably both. More entertaining that way. Have you heard what the other dreams entailed?

[Pavel is lucky indeed! Life would be so much sadder if Fenris was inclined to kick him off the bridge.]

[He slips over to the communications station and spends all of five seconds pretending that he's here to work, not bother Fenris.]

Maybe I can help...? I know nothing about these singing planets, but I have been a command officer on a Starfleet vessel for several years.

[Such a lucky guy. And honestly, Fenris was counting in his head until Pavel started to speak to him. He got further than the elf expected.]

Your help would be appreciated. I am skilled in protecting others from actual, physical threats. But the rest? That is a little beyond me.

[There are days, like this, where he wonders if Kirk made him first mate for shits and giggles. Wow, he is so not trained in this at all. ]

I have not, I doubt any of them are pleasant.

Probably not. Don't think people would be worrying if they were having dreams about puppies and rainbows.

I don't know. I would find that particularly disturbing. You can't trust puppies and rainbows.

[That was a joke. Not that you can tell if his tone, but it was absolutely a joke. ]

Oh yes. Those rainbows are dastardly and puppies? Run. Just run, lest they lick you to death.

[She's onto you Fenris.]

It would be a terrible way to go, don't you think?

Fenris, I'm Fereldan. Getting licked to death by puppies would not only be patriotic, but it would be considered the highest honor.

Ah, yes. For a second there, I forgot how you all were with your dogs.

Then Marian and I have failed in our duty to be as obnoxiously Fereldan as possible. Shame on us.
