[Makie hardly left her room before she fell asleep in it, after Calibrations. She shuffles out now, though, sleepy and a little unsteady, which is all the giveaway for her to realise she's overslept again. Seems to be a habit. She makes herself a cup of tea, checks on her belongings to make sure they don't need maintenance. When she finds out how much time has passed from her crew, well... that's enough for her to finally leave the ship. Even mopey depressives can feel the need to stretch their legs.

She'll visit the gardens, check on the memory tree. And finally, she finds the swimming pool. Because it happens to have set up shop in the place she used to go to practice in private. Huh.

Well, nobody can complain about her swimming now, can they? One small problem, though...]

I'm looking for someone to teach me how to swim. In exchange, I offer lessons either in music or swordsmanship.

[Take your pick. There isn't likely to be a flood here; no children to save from the water. But she'll return to Adstring eventually, won't she?]

The rest of the crew are doing fine. We have a new member in fact. A friend of mine from my world named Wolfwood. [He takes a moment to decide how much he wants to throw at Makie all at once after waking up.]

There have been people having nightmares one night.

[Nightmares are a common fact of life. She ... gives him a curious look over it, but nothing really seems outlandish about that to Makie.]

A friend? That must be... good for you. [She wonders if he's like Vash.]

It is good I haven't seen him-- [Since he died.] --in a really long time.

[...you know, pauses can tell people a lot more than you want them to.]

I see. I'm glad the two of you have this opportunity. [But hell if she's going to bring up that possibility. It's rude.]

Is he much like you?

[Vash grins and give Makie a sly wink. This isn't the first time he's been asked a question like this. Most of the time what people really want to know is if someone he knows is either: A. As loud or B. As obnoxious as Vash himself is.]

Lucky for Wolfwood I think I may be rubbing off onto him! He's a good man. Apparently some people think he is the more level headed of the two of us, but I'd have to disagree with that.

[Vash's roundabout way to say she will likely like his friend better than him.]

More level headed than you? I wouldn't think that was possible.

[Vash perks up even more at her joke. It may not have been a big joke, but hearing one coming from Makie makes it even better. He obviously enjoyed it.]

Yeah, I know, right? It's clearly impossible for something like that to be true! But give the guy a chance! I think you two could get along well!

[Ugh, he really should be a downer and warn her.]

But while you're getting to know him just be careful on the next planet we stop at. It may prove to be a bit dangerous.

[Her faint smile of acknowledgement at his enjoyment fades into a more measuring look at the warning.]

How so?

[Because her immediate thought is danger provided by men being a bunch of dicks, tbh.]

Those nightmares I mentioned. Multiple people had the same dreams. We're not really sure what it may be trying to warn us about yet, but we need to be wary.

[Oh, we're revisiting the dreams. She frowns. That's more odd than she'd originally thought, certainly.]

What are the dreams about?

Nothing overly good. A lot of death, chasing, and general unpleasant feelings. The kind that make you want to wake up with an involuntary scream.

[He quickly scrolls through the old entries of his communicator until he comes across Wrath's post where the dreams were first discussed.]

This is when we first realized there were some of us all having the same type of dream.

[Her first thought when he shows her the comm isn't about dreams. It's the startled, pleased surprise that Wrath has come back to the Fleet. But despite that, she reads the words carefully listed underneath, taking in the dreams. Adstring has taught her that such odd events are generally deliberately ominous and will most definitely come to pass, and she frowns even more.]

Has anyone warned the people of this place?

We've tried, but it hasn't exactly been easy to get people to take us seriously. I mean, we're a bunch of strangers coming in saying we've had a weird dream of some nondescript danger coming their way. We're not even sure what we're warning them of.

No, I... see. That would be hard. [More likely to get you thrown into prison for trying to disturb the peace.]

I suppose as we have no option to leave ourselves or do more, we can only wait and be on our guard.

[Vash gives his head a nod.] Exactly. Be ready to act if needed.
