driftfleet | Tourist September Mingle!

[ Kara's spent most of the last month laying low, thankful that some friends have checked on her, but still not to her regular self. The waiting is hard, the loss is harder, but she's decided enough is enough, and maybe she should just clean the various common areas on the ship. You may catch her in a deep clean of the kitchen, doing laundry, cleaning the bathrooms, etc.

If you are a friend who doesn't visit the Tourist often, she's available by communicator. She's also making more trips to other ships to stretch her legs. Feel free to run into her wherever! ]

[Jarvis never sits down, does he? It's like a plague to him, the concept of sitting off his feet. You'd have to lure him with a cup of coffee. So as it is, he really isn't on board very often lately; rushing, rushing, rushing, but always providing breakfast and dinner to those who need it aboard the ship. He does stay to chat then, to make sure everything's alright...

Ah, and that's when he realizes Chloe is very absent. And it's strange, as it always is, when someone's just suddenly gone; he expects electric blue hair, perhaps a scent of smoke to tap a foot impatiently to, or maybe a use of this... 'hella' word, but there's nothing. It does nothing to soothe him, thinking she'd returned him; he hasn't a clue what she's gone and returned to. But he hopes she's alright.

So he may be a more lackluster in his upbeat style of living.

He goes off to the bistro, performs his daily rounds; perhaps he should post and see if he can fetch more chefs or waiters? You can never employ too many people when employment here helps the time pass! Not to mention, he needs to revisit the Starstruck before piloting down to the new planet, so that he may re-stock The Melting Pot proper before their next drifting phase...!

He ultimately ends up back on the Tourist at the end of the 'day', or as close to day as space gives, crunching some numbers on stock at a small desk in his room.

One may find him uncomfortably slumped there, having fallen asleep with his spectacles on.

Most unbecoming, but he's really just dead on his feet.

Is he mumbling in his sleep?]

Can't... find my pan... Souffle...

[If you come too late, though, you'll find his soft murmurings more sinister, his shoulders twitching, flinching really.]

Don't... don't hurt them... please...

[A couple days after the fleet enters the current system, a shuttle from the First Breath docks with the Tourist. A few moments later, a burst of audio chimes it's way onto Fenris' personal comm channel]

This is Alenko from the First Breath, asking permission of the acting Captain and head of security to come aboard.

[Maybe there isn't really protocol for that in the fleet, but it means something to him to be respectful.]

[While Kaidan is here mostly to check in on Kirk, he will certainly raise a hand in greeting and stop to chat with any familiar (or unfamiliar!) faces. Especially unfamiliar, maybe, as he wouldn't want to appear as if he's intruding. Catch him anywhere between the shuttles and the Captain's quarters.]

[The request does bring a soft huff of amusement from the elf. So proper, Kaidan. Most people just barge onto the Tourist whenever they damn well please. ]

[ oh, hey gurl hey. ]

My co-captain is the chivalrous sort and insisted I take it. The bed is huge.

[ she is on her way though ]

[ just kidding. lucky is the vacuum. ]

[ not too long after she sends the text, there's a knock at Kate's door ]

[ and lucky offers up a quiet boff at the sound of knuckles on the door -- kate shushes him, gentle-like, before answering the door with a smile. look! kara! look at all this room! for activities!

she steps aside and waves her friend in. ]

How are you holding up?

I would definitely be very okay with a room like this. It's great!

Kind of a shame that both captains don't get their own, though.

[ she kneels down to pet Lucky ]

I mean, I offered it to him. It was a very polite standoff, right up until he argued Lucky could probably make better use of the extra room.

A battle of kindness! That's cute.

Does he like it?

Lucky? [ a beat. ] I think so. But, I mean, he'd probably be just as happy sleeping in the hallway. He's used to having the run of Clint's apartment building.

[He hasn't visited other ships here very often or...at all. It helps to feel the situation out and the people in it. His experience of Fenris was brief and mostly filled with getting shot at. Not much time for small talk.]

Thank you. Better to be safe than sorry with security protocols.

[He powers down the shuttle and there's the distant soft hiss of airlocks as he makes his way to the doors and onto the ship]

Speaking of which, can you meet me down here at the cargo bay, if you're not busy?

[Hopefully Fenris is actually on board, or he might have to do some barging after all]

The whole building? Really?

It helps that Clint owns the building.

Oh, of course. Why wouldn't he be a landlord?

[ to be honest, she can't see it, but mostly because of the organizational and finance aspects ]

I guess it's not too different from me being a reporter.

Preach it. Clint, a responsible real-estate investor? Yeah-futzing-right. [ kate lets the door shut and sinks back on her bed -- back pressed against the headboard. ] I wouldn't want him as a landlord. But he bought the building from a bunch of organized crime yahoos who were jacking rent through the roof and trying to push the tenants out. Before that, he was just another guy who lived in it.

[ -- well. a guy who happened to be an avenger and filthy rich. not that clint ever knew what to do with his money besides leave it in suitcases in the basement. but this? this was a good cause. ]

Well, I'd love to randomly be able to buy an entire building. But I'm glad he helped those people out.

[ she sets her stuff down and lays on the bed with her knees bent over the end ]
