Eyuzi System Mingle

Who: Everyone!
Broadcast: If you like!
Action: The planet Lyuku, the Iskaulit, and anywhere else you want
When: Sept 1 to Sept 28

[After a rather short time adrift, the fleet is finally in range of another planet. Small, peaceful, and colorful, there is plenty to do and explore.

Maybe it's enough to forget that vague feeling of unease.

Or not.

[Just you wait, Keith. He's going to kick that not nice at all butt of yours so hard you'll be figuratively limping for a week. Lance climbs into his shuttle, skimming over the controls and adjusting his seat.

Definitely no way in hell he could lose this race.]

[They were given clearance to launch, racing was discouraged, but no one was going to actually stop them if they headed out to a remote area of the field and set their own course to play around in. So, Keith sent Lance a set a coordinates and a roughly circular route around some good obstacles as a suggestion after he'd gotten a good idea of what the system looked like.]

Well?

You got it. Prepare to get whooped.

[He grins and makes his way over to their designating starting point, making a few tight turns around some asteroids on the way to get a feel for the handling of this craft. It's no Blue, but he'll manage.

Once he's there, he hums, leg jiggling.]

Ready?
tempredmental: (Oh Yeah)

[Nope. These crafts definitely weren't the Lions. And it really made them feel different. Not because of the handling or just basic flight skills, but because they were just... spacecraft. Plain and simple. There wasn't any connection to them.

In a way, it was a little disappointing.

But Keith was ready to do this all the same.]

Yup.

You count it off.

[That way, Lance couldn't accuse him of cheating.]

Aaaaalrighty then. On your mark.

[He places his hands on the throttle. After all that talk, he can't lose this race. Lance is embarrassed enough at Keith calling him out on the butt thing as it is, he isn't adding to the shame.]

Three...two...one.... Go!

[Aaaaand off he goes, his full focus going to the race, their course, how quickly he can maneuver his craft between asteroids.[

[Keith grabbed the throttle on his own shuttle at the same time as Lance.

Waited for the count.

And then slammed it to full thrust. The two little craft were fairly evenly matched, so this would definitely be a test of skill and maneuverability.

This particular field was no where near as crowded as the one he'd chased Rolo through with Red, but the little craft was also no where near as quick as Red. So, he was going to have to time any dodging between asteroids carefully. He didn't have the thrust to suddenly speed through should two rocks come towards each other with him in between.

However, it was a tiny craft compared to his Lion, even if Red was one of the smaller two arms. It was much more maneuverable as a result, and he was able to dodge and pull up and dive with much shorter reaction times than he had back home, or even with the Huntress and those shuttles.]

[Balancing maneuverability and speed in a craft he's never driven before is a challenge, especially when it's so dinky compared to Blue. It's not easy going at first, and to add to the challenge, he's racing Keith.

(Grudgingly, Lance will admit that the red paladin is the better pilot, but he'll never say that out loud.)

He won't give up, though. All it means is that he can't play it too safe. It's all or nothing, and risks are going to have to be taken. He scrapes against an asteroid on a turn he'd taken too tight, which slows him down a bit, but makes up time by diving under another one and barely missing it by a foot.]

[Keith took a bit to get used to it, too, taking an easier section of the route first in order to get a better feel for things before finally just diving in full out, looking for shortcuts and slingshotting his way around the space boulders. He squeezed between two that were drifting together, and then pulled up and over a third that had been hidden behind them before diving back down the other side. He couldn't help the smirk on his face as the thrill set in.]

You know... it's almost like that time I had to go chasing after Blue's kidnappers.

[Just... you know... a little barb in there.]
