Who: Billy Kaplan + OTA
Broadcast: Fleetwide
Action: The Blue Fish
When: Now!
( blue fish )
[...con... fetti? alright, that sure is a thing that just happened. Billy's used to teleporting, but it's never felt quite like this. so weird. everything about this is weird, weird, weird, and coming from him that's saying something.
Reaching around the back of his head, he pats awkwardly at where the augment rests, disturbed, and starts wandering through the halls of the ship. Might as well get acquainted, and maybe make sure he's not just super crazy right now. You never know, where he's from.]
( private; text to kate )
So are my powers busted or are you the only one here?
[Location spell went kinda haywire, whoops.]
( video; fleetwide )
Okay, so, ignoring that this is kind of awful and I hate that I apparently can't teleport myself home...
Any advice for first-timers? Can't say I've watched much reality TV back home. Um, barring that... what's some good places to visit off-ship if you've got like five cents to your name?
It's very, uh. Colourful here.

[Because, ha ha, fal'Cie are twisted that way. Or maybe it was just Bartandelus/Orphan.]
Never had a diary. Had a friend who'd just punch things out with me once upon a time.

[squishy mage, sorry.]

Never tried it without a few blows happening.
[Only one exception to that rule though.]
I mean, there was that one time, but it didn't end so well either.

[just innocently curious, no biggie]
no subject
[No biggie. He obviously lived through it.]
Wouldn't recommend that. Hurt like hell.

Shockingly, I didn't need that advice... but thanks anyway. You've got robots in your world too?
no subject
Robots are pretty common right? Usually controlled by people with nothing better to do, in my experience.

[and his dad, kind of.]

[Snow frowns. Hope has always been too precocious for his own good.]
That... didn't turn out too well. Nearly killed two other friends.

[is that good or bad]

[Only ones he didn't try to take down.]

[parent issues is kind of the worst part about that description.]
no subject
[Because, honestly, Orphan was the worst leader ever.]

[He's not wrong.]
And you can't save anyone if you're busy trying to avoid what the hell is wrong with you.
[He knows what is wrong with him and he's not avoiding it. The problem is that he's just given up on being happy.]

[And it's definitely not the dickhead shit he went through with the fal'Cie on Cocoon.]

What's the point?
[Avoidance is totally a thing, right?]
no subject
The point is that if whatever is bothering you is still bothering you, then what you've been doing until now isn't working.
no subject
Maybe. But it's hard to go forward when time has stopped.

If it was easy, everyone would do it and nobody would ever feel bad. I think it's the strong ones who can put in the effort to improve their situation. Working through your old issues is an uphill climb and you fight for every step.
...Seriously I could give you a hundred peppy lines of encouragement for every excuse. The long and short of it is nothing ventured, nothing gained- and in the end it's always your choice.

Some things are just broken.
[And you can't save someone who doesn't want to be saved.]

[this is sounding a lot like what his mom likes to call a Severe Case of the Issues.]
Look- it's not about fixing everything so it's back to full working order. You can't magically erase all the bad stuff, so "all better" is a false promise that nobody decent in the business would use. But like- if you have a busted up old engine you fix it. If you can't fix it you replace it. If you have something that works, and you want it to keep working, you take care of it over time.
People aren't machines, but they still need maintenance. That's what therapy is. Brain maintenance.

[Here is a subscription to Everything Wrong With Snow Villiers. The first issue is free.]
Brain maintenance, huh? That's a first. And I know someone who'd take a bit of an insult at the engine reference.
...Knew.
