(Maedhros can do a lot of things. He is a patient leader, a phenomenal warrior, a devoted brother, however there is one arena in which he does not excel. He could blame it on his lack of a right hand - mechanical replacement or not - but he will not sink so low. There is a white powder in his hair - flour? - and smoke. Too much smoke.)

Does anyone know where we keep the fire extinguisher?

(Ah, no, wait. He finds it and lifts it into his hands, puzzling over how to use it.)

The instructions are less than clear... (The kitchen might burn down at this point. Send help!)

{Fingon runs into the kitchen a minute later and stops at his cousin's side.}

I was gone for a minute! {He's trying not to laugh or panic and manages both? And it might have been a bit longer than just one minute? He reaches for the extinguisher.}

I've had to use it myself, it's this leaver here...

(He blinks at the sudden appearance, smiling despite all the smoke. Fingon, you have helped him be too calm.)

I did much in that minute if so. (Too much and none of it good.) Ah...

(He wrinkles his nose at what is expelled from the extinguisher, but it...works? Though the food is utterly ruined. Not like it was edible before.)

I thought more heat would cook it faster.

{Oops? Fingon grins fondly at him and shakes his head.}

{The foam smells bad, and gets everywhere, but the ship isn't about to burn down, so that's an improvement!}

I wanted to do much of the work.

(And this is the result. His shoulders slump and he grabs a towel to begin the clean up.)

Ammë was right; this does take more patience than I have to give.

If you want, I could guide you through what you want to make? So you can still do much of the work, and the meal can be enjoyed as it should.

Oh but it is! My brother... He does not always eat as he should, but he will try when I cook.

It's good of you to try and take care of your brother, but perhaps next time, start with something simpler? Fresh fruit is much less likely to catch fire.

Interesting... (He has never pulled a pin of this sort before, but upon doing it, he smiles. Ha!) Especially if you are me. I lack a talent for it.

My cousin fits the bill. He likely should not have left me on my own. (He looks around warily. His brother is sneaky.) A cake.

I suppose one could assume there are worse things to expect from a failed attempt at baking a cake than fire... [He nods.] On-site support would help. Usually fires spring up when temperature or timing are off.
