Hi everybody. My name's Sorey; I'm First Mate on the Huntress, but uh...
[He pauses. Sighs and starts over.]
A lot of people are missing. People we love. People who we don't know if they'll be back; there's a chance, definitely, a good chance, but that doesn't mean the pain and fear and the grief will go away. Sometimes, it even gets worse. The uncertainty is almost as terrible as the loss itself.
I'll be conducting memorial services in the Interfaith Center for the next week, every day at noon. Anybody is welcome to attend. It won't be anything fancy; lighting candles and burning incense, tea, reading some things from texts I've picked up along the way. If you don't want to come but you'd like me to say something for you during the service, feel free to leave it here. I'll add it to everything.
Also, if you'd like to come by just to have some quiet, or for a listening ear, I'll be here most times. There's an area where you can pray or set up altars or anything that you'd find more comfortable; we just ask that you cover up any symbols you make when you finish. If you need any help building anything, please let me know, I've got a shop area back on my ship.
Religious ties aren't necessary, either, and there's a meditation room next door if you just need some space to think. Please come by if you need anything.

[Sorey can be found puttering about the Interfaith Center on most days during the current drift. He's usually in the kitchen, sometimes with Mikleo, as well as praying at the small elemental altar in a corner of the prayer chamber, separated from the lounge area by a curtain.
Sometimes he's curled up on one of the couches in the lounge with a book or a set of hand-drawn maps, frowning as he scribbles notes and erases lines.]

... Sorry...
[But he gives pause, pressing his fingers together, kneading as he considers how to say...]
... He really cares a lot, yeah... After he was in my head, he saw how bad my... my mom and her boyfriend was to me, so he checked up on me and wanted to make sure I was safe here. He's a really good guy.
no subject
That sounds like something he'd do. He acts like he doesn't care or is too tired to bother, but... when people need him, he's always there. That's why he's a hero.
no subject
A really great hero.
I swear, miss, I'll try to find a way that the Atroma can bring him back. Just like Gantz did for me at home. There's gotta be a way... maybe -- maybe they'll accept our credits, like Gantz did points. [He looks at the altar, expression sharp and determined. And rather mature.] And we can help all the people we lost.

If he comes back, she'll be grateful. But she has no magic wand to wave and make it so, and she seriously doubts the Atroma will ever negotiate like that.]
Sometimes... there are people you can't save. It hurts, but it's true. When that happens, you have to honour their memory instead.

[He makes fists at his sides, determined.]
But if there's any chance... If there's anything I can do, I'll do it!
And if I can't do anything -- I'll... I'll remember. I always remember.
no subject
... I didn't tell Mr. Aizawa, but the Atroma sent me this after the -- the calibrations.
I hope he doesn't mind. I love these pictures a lot...!
no subject
Of course... o-of course he wouldn't mind... just look- how happy he is there...!
no subject
He didn't mean to make it harder -- but she did seem to appreciate the sight, however short the happiness was. He reaches over and wraps his arms around her, determined to give her some sort of support so she can feel even a little more defended from lonely grief. He's not really sure what else he can do... but he can't just stand there and watch her be sad without doing something.]

I... it'll be okay. It'll be okay, we made it through... this is what he wanted... he saved us, too. He's a hero...
[she's hoping, at the very least, that maybe he can take some comfort in this, too.]

Heather hugged him like this, once. When he told her about home -- she hugged him for the both of them.
Now, what would the morale officer say? Or a captain? He sighs softly.]
'Course it'll be okay. It's okay 'cus of people like Mr. Aizawa.
We'll keep going and protect the people after us, just like he did.
And because we're stronger than we look.
