Recipe #002 - Waking Up
Who: Ignis Scientia
Broadcast: Yes
Action: Ignis' room, First Breath
When: October 1st
Action - Ignis' Room, First Breath
[Falling asleep was easy. Exhaustion had played such a huge part of things when Ignis's head had touched his pillow that night after watching the meteor strike Lyuku. Waking up, on the other hand, is difficult. Everything feels stiff and he's not sure that he really wants to face it. Suddenly, he understands how Noctis has felt on more than one occasion.
A sound to his left catches his attention and he turns his head in that direction, pulling on the scar tissue around his left eye, nose and forehead.]
The Six take me... Gladio, is that you?
[No, this isn't Zegnatus. No bed in the dread fortress was this...comfortable isn't the world. Familiar. This bed is familiar, but not the bed he had in Insomnia. It takes a minute as he attempts to open his sightless eyes out of habit.]
Noct? Prompto?
Video
[Blind men can't see buttons to make it audio only, so take in his nifty scars. It seems the Atroma have taken his sunglasses.]
I feel I must apologize to anyone who has been worried about me since the excitement with the inhabitants of Lyuku. I appear to have gone back to Eos for a short period of time.
You may find me on the First Breath should you wish to talk in person.

[Just because he's blind doesn't mean he doesn't still know more than her about these stupid modern appliances. She's not going to let him stress about that, of all things, honestly. Besides, it's really just an excuse to hang out with him at this point, anyway.
True to her word, she grabs a shuttle and heads over immediately.]

Welcome back to the First Breath, Velvet.
no subject
[She tilts her head, thoughtful, as she approaches him.]
Looks like you're getting around the ship okay so far.
no subject
I have had a few weeks to adjust to my new life before returning back to the Fleet. So long as Noctis and Prompto don't dog my every move, I might even do better on my own.
no subject
She also sort of has an urge to touch them, but she's ignoring that for now.]
You want to go somewhere to talk?
[She knows she used the lessons as a pretense for coming over, but they can do something else. It's not a big deal if they don't cook.]
no subject
Noctis should be in the kitchen. He's attempting to take up the slack for now.
If you don't wish to talk with him nearby, the only place we can have privacy is my room. However, the lounge on our ship is rather nice from what I remember.
no subject
[She sounds a little surprised.
Then she shrugs. Not that he can see it, but that's okay.]
We can go to your room.
[The lounge is probably nice, but probably just as likely to have people walking in and out as the kitchen.]
no subject
[Not that Ignis has had much time to attempt to check out any cooking that Noctis has done by himself.
He turns around carefully in the hallway, using both his free hand and his cane to make his way through the corridors to his own room.]
I'm not really certain what the state of my own quarters is. Noctis and Prompto have been watching over me while I slept.
[She's seen the memory of Noctis' own apartment.]
no subject
You want me to tell if they made a mess of it?
no subject
Not at all. If it is anything like I suspect, I am better off not being able to see it.
[It's nothing close to what he thinks, but he knows it's not what it would look like if he hadn't fallen into his coma.]
no subject
She does look around the room when they get there, though.]
Well, it could be worse.
[She can't help but comment. It's not nearly as bad as the memory of his she saw.]
no subject
I will survive, surely. I can have one of them helping me clear this up later.
[He taps the chair with his cane. So what if it's closer than it should be. It's not that important, is it?]
Please, feel free to sit.
no subject
[She takes a seat. She doesn't seem to mind the placement of the chair.]
You think they can meet your standards?
no subject
Perhaps not. They appear to be extremely difficult for others to live up to without sacrifice.
[He shrugs slightly. His life has been about sacrifice, so it doesn't bother him.]
I remember speaking to you and then going to sleep. I had no thought that this could happen.
no subject
I wonder if I could.
[Her tone is lightly teasing, but also contemplative. She's been cleaning the Red Fish kind of obsessively since she realized Eleanor died. On some level she's always looking for distractions, Cleaning is a good one.
But after a moment she looks at him again.]
Something similar happened to one of my crew mates. He went to sleep and woke up a few days later missing an eye.
[Kind of messed up of the Atroma to pull that sort of shit, honestly.]
no subject
There feels as if there's something rather pointed in that small sentence.]
You've no problem dealing with me as a teacher.
[Besides, it's not as if he's going to see if she misses something minor now. Before it might have been a slight, but now it wouldn't make a dent at all in their relationship.]
Did your crew mate have any forewarning of something like that happening to him?
no subject
Not that I know of, but he wasn’t really in a hurry to talk about it.
[Then she cocks her head a little, not that he can see it, but it’s just how she is.]
Did you?
no subject
Which leaves something to consider later. Much later. ]
Yes, I've known almost since I arrived what would happen if I returned home. If Noctis had not told me, Ardyn would've used it to taunt us all. He attempted many times anyway.
no subject
It's kind of weird, isn't it? Knowing what's going to happen.
no subject
[The pain is something he won't ever forget, that's for sure.]
I've known since the incident when we shared our memories together what these scars would look like. They are...rather dramatic.
no subject
They’re not so bad.
[She doesn’t deny they’re dramatic, but there’s nothing wrong with carrying scars.]
no subject
His breathing is uncharacteristically shaky as he attempts to figure out what the hell to do or say. He does nothing but sit there until the shock clears and reason takes control of his mind once more.]
I suppose not, but I will admit that I have some vanity and they cannot be simply covered up.
no subject
He doesn't seem angry though, so she doesn't make a big deal out of it. She just folds her hands in her lap to help control her impulses as she listens to what he has to say.]
I guess that makes sense.
no subject
You haven't hurt me, if that's what you're worried about, Velvet.
[And of course he isn't angry. Why would he be?]
no subject
Oh...good. I didn’t mean to be rude, either.
