Tourist Mingle
Who: The crew of the Tourist! or anybody who might visit.
Broadcast: Probably not
Action: Anywhere onboard
When: The week of 29Mar-04April
[All things considered, the Tourist is a fairly quiet ship; it seems most of its crew keep to themselves. What happens when they do happen to bump into one another, though? Let's find out! A chance encounter at the coffee machine, an awkward meeting in the shower, or maybe just killing some time in quarters, let's show the Fleet how the Tourist keeps it real.
[Your captain has purchased some fruit at the market on Mor and has generously deigned to share, so there's a selection of apples and oranges and a box of strawberries in the kitchen for the taking! Don't be greedy, though!]

Or unless you leave something in there to the point of it becoming a charred mess.

[ He indicates the fruit out on the counter with the tip of his head. It seemed to be for community use, but he's well-aware fruit doesn't stand up well to his carbonized cooking style. ]

No. It would be preferable if you didn't melt the fruit into an inedible mess.

[ He's doing his best to cut into his rubbery black goop of protein. It's proving to be too difficult for a fork alone, so he goes about locating a knife. ]

Eventually he goes about fiddling with the beverage dispenser, figuring out the "tea" setting, which is probably as close as he's going to get to coffee for now. He leans up to get a second mug, glancing over his shoulder at the other man. ]
Want a cup of tea? Promise I ain't gonna burn that neither.
no subject
I imagine it would be very difficult to burn tea. [He usually prefers wine, but it's probably not wise this early in the day.] Certainly. Thank you.

[Oh, well that sure is familiar. He glances up, for a brief moment, before looking back at his tea. ]
Ah, you were also... between places. I was taken to a place called Exsilium, before Atroma managed to bring me here. We had...less opportunity to ignore the machinery.
no subject
[ He looks around with a grimace. ] Still waitin' for the other shoe t'drop here.
no subject
That sounds like a mess. In Exsilium, it was only after the city was destroyed, that we had to move into space. Most of the time we were travelling through time, altering history to stop a dangerous power taking over everything.
[He takes a sip of his tea, and nods. ]
Everything is too... simple here. They must want more of us than just to simply watch us.
no subject
Simple, yeah. S'what I'm sayin'. [ Oh thank God, someone who gets why he's so nervous here. ] Things would get real peaceful, real normal on the station, right? Then outta fuckin' nowhere, plagues and robots and monsters and time or space goin' funny. Some of it was just the rift bringin' things in like it brought us. Hypatia let us stay there, but she didn't want us.
[ He frowns, turns his tea mug in his hands. ] Puts me on edge, knowin' these Atroma folks want us here. There's gotta be a purpose, yeah? One we ain't seein'.
no subject
[Great, he can add another world he doesn't remember being in now. Great. Life is grand. ]
Certainly. There's something much deeper going on here, and I dread the day we find out what. After all, if we are just to float on a controlled path through space, why have pilots? Why have weapons specialists, or lab workers? They have given us these roles and skills for some reason other than aesthetic.

Well, I have no intentions of being an unwilling participant in otherwordly plans again. If they are foolish enough to arm us, then they will find such things turned upon them,

Be grateful you missed the Floot Loops drink.
no subject
[ He has a feeling he doesn't. ]

It tasted of dying rainbows.

[Fenris never wanted to do that either, but Floot Loops did that for him.]
That's probably wise.
