[ Well ... that sure is a getup, there. Iroh looks a little confused at his choice of face paint, but it quickly turns into a warm smile ]

[...Zhas gives him a very flat look, glancing over everything going on here. where did that pantry door come from? since when do they have one of those? this guy must... actually be a cook. that's... uh. interesting.

he, of course, gives Iroh absolutely zero words to work with.]

[ Eh, it's cool, buddy. He just gestures to the teapot on the stove. ]

Would you like some tea?

[...he shakes his head.]

Who are you.

[his voice sounds kind of like a gravel driveway that's been smoking for a few years.]

[ Are you okay, kid ...... You sound like you are dying ...

He doesn't seem to mind much, though, and just gives Zhas a friendly smile ]

I am Iroh. It seems I have been appointed cook to this ship.

[ he gives Zhas a respectful bow ]

I hope we can get along.

[he... regards his words with heavy cynicism, but the gesture isn't lost on him. and the guy doesn't seem... threatening, or anything, or even particularly magical. so. he doesn't actually have any reason to be mad at him being there.

so he... nods a little, and finally moves to go get whatever he wanted from the cabinets.]

[ Well, that's good enough for Iroh!

He'll be sure to stay out of the way so Zhas can get to what he wanted, while he's poking at something frying in this here pan. It actually smells pretty good??? ]

[well he's not hungry.

...okay, he is, since otherwise he wouldn't be in here, looking for food. even with his shitty sense of smell, whatever's cooking in there is kind of distracting. is that... wait, when did they get another burner this looks awesome.

he'll eventually cave, shut the cabinet, and point towards whatever's in the frying pan. tilting his head probably makes it a question.]

[ Iroh notices the pointing, and he grins ]

Would you like to try some? I'm almost done.

[theboogieman]

[...this feels like a trap. this guy is way too nice.

but after a moment of consideration, he... nods...]

[ Cool! He'll finish the last little bit of sautee-ing he's got going on here, before putting a little bit on a plate for him. It's some kind of meat dumpling type of thing, and a bit spicy, at that ... ]
