Eleanor (visiting) | OTA
[Unfortunately for Eleanor, as if the near deadly ride over weren't enough, it's right after that the Red Fish is docked by a Vieziri ship. At least it's nothing they can't handle!]
We need a plan.
Carl Grimes || OTA
[ Their ship managed to get out of the line of fire, but not before taking some hits of her own- which means some of their systems have gone down, including Communications. It's annoying and a little worrying, because there's no telling who was hit and how bad it is. They can only wait it out until it gets fixed and they can check in. Carl has one of the access panels in the hallway opened, an open toolkit and his hat on the floor next to him. Fiddling with some wires, the lights flicker, then burn a little brighter. That's one thing fixed.
And then the lights go out in the hallway. Extricating himself from the panel, he growls in frustration, grinding the heel of his hand into his forehead. ]
Dammit. [ Fishing through his toolkit, he pulls out a flashlight. ] Hey, could you hold this for me?
B;; Vieziri Attack
[ It would be nice if this were the first time the Red Fish has been boarded, but even if they're not completely prepared, it's nothing they can't weather. Cannibals are a new thing, though. Well..here, at least. He's dealt with cannibals once before. Carl was busy trying to repair one of the electrical panels when they were docked and the sound echoed through the halls. It's luck that he happened to be able to get quietly to the armory before they swept through. Which is where he's stationed himself. Like hell are their attackers going to get any of their weapons. Crouching behind some boxes, he opens a hail of fire on anyone clearly out for blood. Stay out of the way of this little psycho and help him out, these assholes are tough! ]
C;; Checking In
[ The raiders are gone and the other ships are back in orbit in several states of disrepair. They're up, at least. It's the perfect time to make sure the crew is here and in one piece. Some of them may have been stuck on the planet or on other ships. Carl will come check in, knocking on the doorway to wherever your character happens to be to announce his presence. ]
Hey. Glad you're in one piece.
D;; Wildcard
[ Hit him up for something else! ]

[ The Vieziri are already armed, but if they lose their chance to defend themselves, they won't last. ]
no subject
[They're barely equipped as it is. They'll need access to more firepower to fight the Vieziri off, and the last thing they can afford right now is the Vieziri having more resources.]
How many entrances does the armory have?
no subject
[ He nods down the hallway he'd just come from. ] If we need to, we can draw them away and circle back around.
D
How are you, da'len?
[ She genuinely wants to know, tilting her head to watch him, offering a small, fond smile. She hasn't checked in with her ship too much - too busy being adventurous on the planet itself, unfortunately - but she's making the effort now. ]

..And then flopped next to him on his bed, making the springs squeak. He closes his comic book and looks down at her and offers his own, relieved smile. He's really glad to see her, had been worried about her the entire time she was gone, but happy she wasn't on the ship when it was boarded. ]
I'm okay, Leilani. [ That smile turns into a frown as he looks over her face for visible injury. ] Are you?
no subject
He looks fine, she thinks, so she doesn't have the urge to press him for more details. If he tells her he's okay then she is going to put her trust in that - but her hand does raise to touch his cheek gently, turning him to look at her, letting her inspect him just a little. It's a Keeper's instinct, and she barely realises she's doing it before her hand is dropping back down. ]
I am tired, but I'm alive. [ And she's proud of that! ] I will be better after a good night of sleep.

Of course, Velvet is ready for a fight. She got her gauntlet blade commission just in time apparently. She ejects the blade from the new gauntlet on her arm.]
I have a plan.
[Murder. The plan is murder.]
B
Though at one point she does have to unbind her left arm and reveal her giant claw which she uses to catch one of the intruders as he tries to get by her, before literally throwing him against the wall farthest away from the armory.
Then she glances over her shoulder, toward Carl.]
You okay in there?
no subject
Alive is a good thing to be.
B
[ He pauses to reload a magazine before raising the gun to give Velvet some suppressive fire. Not that she needs it with her claw or her strength, but he has her back all the same. ]
You? I'm not sure about everyone else, either.
no subject
It is. [ She smiles, leaning back. ] You should take care to rest.
no subject
[And incredibly feasible. They might not be able to take them all on at once, but they can definitely defend a single entrance, especially given such narrow corridors.]
[Or, at least she can.]
What are you trained in?
no subject
[But there are always exceptions, and today is a fantastic example. 'Murder' is a fantastic solution when the problem is a hostile alien entity.]
[Eleanor nods at Velvet as she draws her own spear. This is almost starting to feel nostalgic.]
We need some sort of strategy. Did you have anything specific in mind?
no subject
[ He's thankful now that he had the foresight to ask Natasha to help him hone his skills. ]
You?
no subject
Carl huffs, raising his hand to touch lightly on the back of hers. Even though they haven't known each other long, he's done the dangerous thing and gotten attached. She reminds him so much of people he's lost in his life, that it's like having everyone back again in one body. ]
's what I'm doing. At least for a while. I still have to get everything else fixed.
no subject
Her expression softens and she nods her head, letting her eyes run over him to check for wounds. There doesn't seem to be anything too serious, and that makes some of her tension bleed away into something almost relaxed. ]
When was the last time you slept properly?
no subject
[As nice as the security augment is, Eleanor is more grateful for her time with the abbey and with Velvet's group. Fighting skills are useful, but knowing the basics of strategy is invaluable.]
Would you be okay with leading the way?
no subject
I sleep okay most of the time.
no subject
[ Most of the time is not often enough, in her opinion, and she frowns a little. The fact that he looks away from her is enough to betray it as far as she's concerned and she shakes her head, leaning back to rest herself on the wall and watch him. She doesn't want to command him, or act as though she is somehow superior in some way - but she is concerned. She knows how it is to live without much sleep, after all. ]
You could take the time now.
no subject
[Though this is the first time she's ever been in a battle with bullets flying, actually, but she's pretty much just treating it like every other battle she's been in.]
no subject
[A masterful strategy, right. But definitely nostalgic.]
no subject
Understood. You know the ship better than I do, so it would be better for you to lead. I can cover you.
super late, feel free to drop
I'll cover you.
no subject
[ There's not really a reason for him not to. He trusts Leilani, and there's no threat for incoming, well, anything. It takes him a long moment to think about it before he nods and moves down the bed so he can lay down. His hat comes off, and he tosses it onto the desk. ]
Maybe for a little while?
super late, drop if you'd like!
[ Checking that the coast is clear, he nods and moves down the hallway in the direction of the armory. So far, the coast is clear. Their luck will eventually run out. ]
no subject
I can wake you, if you like.
no subject
[ Carl drops off fairly quickly, after that. After spending so long moving around and not knowing when they'd have to do it again, it was habit. He's always been good about being able to catch sleep where he could, though it was easier next to Judith. He still misses his sister terribly. ]
