Who: Princess Looma and YOU!
Broadcast: Video!
Action: Anyone who comes by to help
When: Midday on the 18th!
[If Looma looks to be in a foul mood, it's because she is. She's also largely disregarding every piece of medical advice she's been given since the battle- sorry John- and is not only doing the exact opposite of bed rest, but she's apparently also decided that just not leaving her injuries bandaged up is way more convenient than having to change all those bandages. So forgive her for sulking in her captain's chair, which happened to be one of the rare few things on the Bishop's bridge that wasn't smashed all to hell from the crash or the missile barrage that preceded it.]
I have been in worse situations, but that does not diminish just how disastrous this planetary incursion was.
[To put it mildly. Even she was worse for wear. Thick hide or no, she does sort of look like she'd gone through a blender, though most of those cuts from the Vieziri's weapons covering her arms were shallow and mostly harmless. The burned and blackened skin covering the left side of her face and neck, well, that's another matter. Also a pretty good indicator of just why both her left eyes were hidden behind a piece of cloth draping down from under her battered helm.]
There are two things I must address. The first is that my ship is still in need of extensive repair. While we remain airtight- mostly- the Bishop will not be fully operational again for some time. Any assistance would be most welcome.
[That part, she didn't expect anyone to have an issue with. This next part...]
The second is that I have a proposal. I am aware the various captains meet on occasion to discuss matters that involve the entire fleet. As soon as you are all able, I would like to call another. I have a proposal best discussed there.

Action
Hello, Captain Looma. [He groans a bit as he settles into the chair.] I can help fix the ship. Probably nothing delicate, but broader repairs that require heavy lifting aren't an issue for me.
no subject
[There'd been enough help to at least seal up the hull breaches to the point the ship wasn't a flying death trap, but after the beating they'd taken, she wasn't surprised in the slightest that a lot of the ship's systems weren't back up to 100% yet. Pidge would probably be stuck working overtime just trying to get everything back to full functionality again, which was partly why Looma had bothered asking for help. It'd take too long otherwise, and possibly drive their sole engineer slightly insane.]
Should I assume you are also committed to ignoring much of Mr. Laurens' advice?
[She can tell you're in some manner of pain, buddy. She's kind of used to surveying others for any weaknesses to exploit, friendly or not. It's not something she can turn off at this point.]
no subject
[Basic functionality was what they needed most right now. It was a kind of miracle that the Bishop was even space worthy after all the chaos.
He laughs and raises a fist up in a sign of protest.]
Never been one to let doctors tell me what to do. As long as nothing is broken, why slow down?
Video;
[A pause. ]
I'd ask if you're resting up, but I already know the answer to that so I'm not gonna ask. [Directly. ]
Video
[She seems the type to get territorial and protective over her work. Maybe she's wrong, but Looma also doesn't want to chance having to pull an angry Pidge off anyone. The past few weeks have been hectic enough already.]
I am resting no longer than I believe is necessary.
[So like, not at all, really. She's got too much to keep her busy.]
Do what you can to arrange a suitable time with the other captains. I will do what I can on my end, though the sooner we meet, the better.
Video
[No one wants to face the Wrath of Pidge. ]
So not at all, then.
[HE'S GOT YOUR NUMBER, MISSY!!! ]
I agree. Maybe once everyone's got their crew settled?

[She'd much prefer getting things like their weaponry and targeting systems completely fixed, none of this temporary workaround nonsense. Though she's also not even 100% certain some of the ship's guns are still, well, attached after the crash. Her station's only giving any sort of readouts for some of them, after all.]
The crew is as well as can be, considering the circumstances. I have Laurens to call on, should the situation change.

[Well, it's definitely a plus at least. Between Looma and Mantis, they'd have enough grunt labor at their disposal if it was needed, it was the specialized knowledge that they needed most.]
As a word of caution, it would be wise to refrain from touching anything without checking with ours first. I do not believe she would take kindly to anyone performing any repairs without her knowledge.

[Or five minutes ago, really. If only so she could yell at everyone for not being there sooner.]
But I am certain we all have matters demanding our more immediate attention. I prefer the matter receive a proper discussion, without deciding on any course of action in anyone's absence.
Re: video;
What is it you’re going to propose, if I might ask? Or are you set on waiting until the meeting?
no subject
It does not concern me if any know what it is I intend to suggest, my only intention is to avoid any debate on the matter without allowing each captain to have their say.
I intend to propose we create a dedicated security force. Ideally one with members from the fleet as a whole, but I am unfamiliar with any crew roster not my own. If the Atroma steer us toward another crisis like the last, I would prefer there be people prepared to step in immediately and coordinate a proper response.
[Not necessarily a military one, either- survival was something most of the fleet seemed capable of handling on their own, at least in the short term. But overall coordination and re-establishing lines of communication was something they were definitely not prepared for last time around.]
Relying on outside forces jumping to our aid is hardly a strategy I am comfortable relying on, and I have no reason to believe it will happen a second time.

[ Kirk nodded his head, not immediately disagreeing. He had some thoughts on her proposals, but in general he did agree with her. Being caught as they had this time - it had obvious disastrous consequences. It could have been worse, but god he didn't like contemplating that, and it made his gut wrench just thinking about if things had gone worse. It was very obvious that Atroma had no issue throwing them into these situations, by accident or design, and they could no longer simply just hope to pull out of them okay. ]
You make solid points. It is definitely something that needs to be properly discussed, with the captains and the fleet as a whole, I should think.
no subject
I do not intend for it to be a strictly military force, but many of the same challenges would apply. There would need to be agreement on how to build such an organization, how it is supplied, and an agreement on just how and when it should act.
[To say nothing of who would be leading it.]
I have commanded armies, James Kirk, but I have never raised one. And absent any real authority within the fleet, I believe it is an effort best debated and undertaken as a whole.
no subject
Well strictly military is going to be a hard thing to accomplish anyways. I don't think a lot people in the fleet even have military or psuedo-military backgrounds. I think it would be best if we based this organization on volunteers with applicable skills and such. But that can be argued later, as you say.
[ He ran a hand through the side of his hair, lips set in an almost purse, but not quite. ]
We will definitely get better results if others feel like they have a voice. Forcing anyone to do anything just ends in disaster, not to mention completely stunts morale.
Re: video;
Also, please let me know if you still need help with the ship.
no subject
I do not believe there will be any shortage of work, even if I managed to lay claim to every engineer in the fleet. Though as Pidge holds seniority on this ship, I believe it only fair any who wish to help report to her first.
[That, and going off on your own might result in a very small, very territorial engineer biting you or something.]
As for the meeting, I would prefer something soon. But I believe it is in all our interest to postpone it at least one human week. I am certain most of us have wounded crews to attend to.
[And, well, repairs. She's well aware the Bishop wasn't the only ship to go down, and she had no idea what sort of damage the others were dealing with.]
As for the venue, I would assume the Iskaulit will suffice. It is a neutral vessel, and I am certain there must be someplace suitable there.
[Seeing as how it's much, much bigger than any of their ships and all.]
action;
Not that she's in any position to speak of it freely. She makes it to the bridge and pauses, noticing that she's not alone. Being tiny makes it easy to slip around, but this is a fairly open space she just walked into.
There's little point in being coy. ] Greetings. I am Alisaie Leveilleur and I do believe I am... [ That's a delayed pause. She doesn't quite remember what she's supposed to be. ] An engineer of sorts?
action forever!
Then you will have plenty to keep busy with. The Bishop took more fire than most from the Vieziri's initial attack.
[And since she wasn't about to just make idle conversation with a new member of the crew from her chair, Looma does go through the effort of standing up and moving over to properly introduce the...very, very small addition to the crew. Why was this becoming a pattern.]
I am Princess Looma of House Red Wind- your new captain. For all that is worth on this ridiculous excuse for entertainment.

giraffesElezen with their elongated ears and legs so she's used to the pain in her neck of having to look up to address others. This admittedly was a bit more than she was used to as she takes a small step back out of a newly formed instinct. One formed of recent events in her life. ]I see. [ Yes, she certainly does. Her new captain is an eyeful (there's just so much here that it's taking her a little while to process), and with a demeanor like that, no doubt a handful as well. ] Princess Looma of House Red Wind... Captain Princess? I suppose I was never any good with titles.
[ Her brother is though. No doubt he'll want to meet this captain of her's. ] Forgive me, my arrival was unprecedented, I am told. I haven't much of a chance to speak with the others.
[ Kind of hard to arrive on a ship when you're stuck on a planet and all. ]
no subject
[Sniffs, and there is that clipboard of his.]
So! Time and place!
no subject
I think it best to arrange a meet one human week from now. Aboard the Iskaulit, if a suitable location can be found. It is a neutral vessel, no single captain should benefit from any unnecessary influence.
[Look her entire idea of government and politics is basically war, and you really don't shake off that mindset over night.]
While it would be preferable to meet sooner, we likely have our own matters to attend to first. I am not certain any ship survived that planet with its crew unharmed.
no subject
Sooner will have to wait until we are not limping along, after all. So! We shall do what we can, while we can. Organization! Should there be refreshments?
action
At least they made it through.
He approaches the bridge, perhaps a little wearily. He may not be quite as badly off as Looma is, but the attack on the generators and the subsequent final battle has absolutely left its mark. Sayid has bandages in several places, the results of Vieziri firepower.
The comm station is partially patched up, as a result of some of his efforts while they were on the planet. At the very least, there's somewhere to sit.
He'd at least heard the content of her broadcast, which is what he addresses as he begins speaking.]
It's a shame that the augments seem to delineate duties as strictly as they do. I should be able to assist Pidge more than I currently can.
[But that's sort of just pointless griping. Thanks Atroma, he's usually pretty good with machinery. :| Still. That doesn't get them anyway.]
What's the gist of your proposal?
[He's not a captain, but he's her First Mate, and he feels like he should potentially know. In any event, it might be something that he can weigh in on.]
action
Okay, now you're done with that, you wanna sit down? Please?
no subject
It is the captain's chair. It counts.
[It so does not count.]
no subject
no subject
[Which is totally different from delegation and supervision, natch. Especially since she actually did go out of her way to procure anything they might need wherever possible. Real food in particular, but there had been more to worry about on the last planet than finding suitable game.]
I am perfectly capable of carrying out my duties in my condition. I was barely injured!
[That's...an interesting perspective, to be sure. Coming back from death only to be shot in the face with a cannon would probably count for more than just being lightly wounded for most people.]
no subject
A wise one, in my book. You gotta first mate, let him do his duties. We ain't as helpless as you seem to think we are, ma'am. Get people to do things for you, just don't fuckin' move while you're doin' it an' I'll get off your case.
Bull shit you weren't injured. Or is that cloth just a new fashion statement you're tryin' out? We both know it ain't.
no subject
What might be a more serious injury for a weaker, less resilient being is something we Tetramands would sooner boast about.
[You can be as annoyed as you want John it's not even gonna slow her down. She'll even start counting some of the reasons why you're the most wrong of all the wrong people she has ever had to deal with on one of her free hands as she turns the chair around to deal with you directly.]
Pidge Gunderson has already been granted considerable freedom to direct and supervise the repairs. Sayid Jarrah enjoys similar freedom to act with regard to supplies and the crew. And I will not be retiring to my quarters for rest I do not need just because my archaic excuse for a medic is an overzealous fool.
no subject
An’ if you call me fuckin’ archaic one more time, you ain’t gonna have a medic anymore!
no subject
[Her mood does darken considerably when it comes time to address his other threat, however. And that one ventured into far more dangerous territory. She's even getting out of that chair and confronting John more directly just to make that as clear as possible.]
And to be clear- am I to understand you would abandon your obligations to rest of the crew if I wound your pride again?
no subject
[Yeah, whatever, he's not scared of you, Looma. In fact he's scowling up at her.] No. But you ain't gonna insult what I can't fuckin' help anymore or else we're gonna hafta do something about it. [He has too much honor to abandon anyone, but insults? Hell no, he's not having that.]
