1. Art
Who: Jinx Halcomb
Broadcast: Network sound
Action: the Marsiva
When: Sometime before the shuffle!
[Jinx had decided the best way to entertain herself would be to make Art. And she couldn't take apart any of the people here, they would very much be Noticed as Missing. Not enough of a crowd around to hide the disappearance.
Instead, Jinx is taking apart a Machine.
It is significantly less satisfying. At least she managed to get some grease out of it eventually. It took shoving her hand in and wiggling it about. At the moment, she is meticulously removing wires and arranging them on top of the speared grease to create a meadow scene in 3D. She may have started broadcasting white noise in order to simulate air rushing through grass.
And possibly to see how many people would notice.]

what are you doing
text
It takes her a while to answer, as she decides if it's worth the effort.]
Art.

Re: text
Cuz.
text
it's annoying
text
So?
text
he can get a lot done with this playing in the background. he finally feels like he can focus.
it wouldn't be coming from nowhere, however. and there's always someone on the other end of these things. so, eventually he sends an experimental text.]
is anyone there?
Re: text
This didn't really demand much of a response, but after it blinked at her enough times her annoyance drove her to it.]
?
[One character. She was pleased with her succinctness. Really covered all the bases, that. And it was practically as good as an inquisitive head tilt!]
no subject
who is this?
no subject
[Why does he want to know, and who's giving him orders to find it out. Shedoes not trust this question appearing out of the ether :|]
no subject
are you making that noise?
no subject
[Well... it looks like she can use emojis here, so Jinx reverts back to bad texting habits.]
👍
no subject
what is that
no subject
😧
'Yes'
no subject
why don't you just use words?
no subject
[That ones really not worth words]
😑
no subject
[it's the only excuse for this behavior that he can think of.]
no subject
😂😏
no subject
[and yet, he's still replying.]
no subject
😜

He clearly stopped to listen. How isn't it?]
voice
Is someone on the other end of this line?
voice
She ignores it at first. For a long time. People stop talking when you ignore them sometimes. But maybe this person would be helpful, you never know... Eventually, she sort of... grunts at it.]
Hm?
voice
Hello. [she pauses] Are you working on something?
voice
God, these people were so damn demanding.
She gives another hum, this one in the positive instead of the inquisitive.]
Mm-hm.
voice
Something mechanical?
voice
Mm-mm.
voice
Are you creating something?
voice
It's kind of a novel concept for her. And because of that. Jinx keeps responding. More quickly than before, even.
She has to think about this answer more before she gives the affirmative hum, however.]
Mm-hm~
voice
I wonder what... [scuffle of small things shuffling over a metal surface, squeaking of wet hands moving over surfaces. She's not making anything mechanical, but many of the sounds seem like pieces being popped out of a machine]
You using machine parts for something other than creating a machine. [she's more just thinking outloud at this point]
voice
[The hum is meant to be confirmation of that not-quite-a-question.
She is making Art! In fact...]
Art.
[Someone other than Silent Friend actually seems to care about what she's creating. Communicate about her creation. It's... Nice.
It is worthy of Words.]
voice
That sounds nice. Making art out of broken machinery... very symbolic. [it's the lack of words from the other girl that is making her feel so chatty in return. And... eh what the heck, she decides to be forward]
When it's finished, would it be too much trouble to take a picture?
Re: voice
Mmm.
[She agrees to the request easily. It's not what she usually does. But it had always been nice when the papers had taken pictures of her art so she supposes she can do the same.
Sharing is caring after all]
voice
I don't think I've heard you on the network before? [not that Nunnally is super nosy and might sometimes user her comm officer status for... keeping an eye on everything]
Re: voice
[Jinx let's that go for a while. It may have had the question lilt but it wasn't actually a question.
But she did like this person.
Minutes pass in working group silence before...]
Mm-mm
no subject
My name is Nunnally. If you ever need any help getting settled in, please let me know. You can always call me on this frequency.
no subject
...Jinx.
[Okay. Yeah. That took a long time. Mostly because Jinx forgot that you were supposed to trade names, not just take them.
What a novel concept.]
no subject
It's a pleasure, Jinx.
[hmm, she would like to chat more but she figure she should check...] I'm sorry for distracting you so for your project. I'll let you return to your work?
no subject
[She's almost doneish. Just a few more finishing touches. She likes that this conversation hasn't required anything other than grunts from her.
She wonders vaguely how she can train other people to do the same thing.]
no subject
Goodbye. [and without ceremony she'll hang up the call. She'll chat with you again someday, Jinx :3]
no subject
About an hour later Jinx sends a picture of her mixed-media image to the frequency she'd been talked at on. It's a meadow scene, with wire trees and scrap metal mountains and grease rivers. Big enough to cover about a third of the hallway floor she'd taken over.]
no subject
It's beautiful :)
