[It's been a long few months with a rough landing on a less-than-inviting planet. The ship is flying again, but we've lost Makie. Still, the fleet drifts onward.

Welcome to the Twin Roses, Merlan. We hope you survive the experience.]

The... [take] knock me out as fast as possible kind of help.

[He sighs and rubs at the back of his neck for a moment.] You saw what happened to the city of July, right? [His memories of those nights were still a little hazy towards who saw exactly what.]

[She nods. She saw a lot of things in Vash's mind. In other minds. Some were hazy or confused with each other, but she has a pretty good idea of what he's talking about.]

Is that all it would take? If you were knocked out?

I think so. I've never actually been stopped before.

If not that maybe... just... cutting off my arm? [He knows that's a dark request.] All I know is if I can't be stopped you need to get everyone away from me. Evacuate the ship, set a course away from the fleet, and let me fly. Evacuate a city if you must, but get away if I can't be stopped.

[Dark? Is it? Would she even notice?

She reaches out to take his hand in hers and give it a squeeze. She looks at him directly, wanting him to know she means this.] I'll take care of it. [And of course she'd do it in a way that protects him if she can. Her power might be effective enough for taking it out. And she hopes the Atroma wouldn't go so far with a glitch, but after everything else the past few months, she can understand the concern.]

Thanks. Hopefully this is a wasteful conversation. I mean, there's got to be too much paperwork involved when it comes to resurrecting the whole fleet.

Can I ask a question about your powers? [Kitty has never seemed shy before when it came to her powers, but it still seemed polite to ask first.]

Here's hoping. [It's also not the first she's had. Kurt's worried she won't find it in herself to kill him if it needs doing. He's probably not wrong.]

Sure. Anything.

[She'd also have a hard time getting through Vash first to do that if he's around.]

Do you know if they're affected by gravity? Like if the gravity is so heavy you can't phase at all?

[That question may give away who Vash is really asking about, but she was Co-Captain, even if was a title without any real power behind it most of the time. If Kitty's power could help Chuuya with his worry of his powers also glitching then it was worth it.]

Mmm...maybe in an extreme case, probably more because I couldn't concentrate to phase because I was being crushed more so than actually being a problem when phased.

Does this have something to do with Chuuya?

[Vash gives a soft nod of his head.] Yes, he's also concerned about if his powers are glitched. That he might actually die from it if not something much worse. I have to admit, my expertise in guns won't work very well against someone who controls gravity.

Vash, we're a ship full of people with powers—or the ability to ice skate—who care about each other. We're going to take care of whatever happens to anyone. Just like I know if they knock me back a few years and I don't recognize any of you that you'll forgive me if I put your head through a wall and threaten to kill you if you don't tell me where I am and what's happening. By the way, call Kurt if that happens.

Don't worry, if you suddenly look years younger Kurt would be the first person on the ship I'd be calling for. It would just be more shrill and panicked sounding if my head was in a wall!

[He's joking. Maybe.]

I suppose I just wanted an idea of who I could call on for help if something did happen. [When it came to powers that could destroy a whole ship or planet it was worth having some sort of plan in place.]

[She figures he's joking/serious.] Sounds good. Unless I'm really young and I look scared. Then you probably want to just stick me with Yuri or something.

Vash, just always call me. As long as I'm still here anyway.

I will. Pretty sure it's space law that all life threatening emergencies be mentioned to your fellow Co-Captain should they arise.

Exactly. [Unless someone needs killing and then he's right off the speed dial.] And this ship is a team. We have varying degrees of experience with that and some of us are newer than others, but I think the planet proved we'll do what needs to be done for each other.

Yeah, it did. Hopefully I'll be more help next time instead of catching up on beauty sleep.

Or that two people won't be recently returned from the dead and one person off ship. Yeah, there were things that could have gone better. [Little smile. They got off pretty easily. Crashed, yeah, but not boarded.]

How are you doing from all of that?

Oh, is that all? That doesn't seem so bad. [Said in the most deadpan voice he can muster.]

And me? Yeah. I'm fine. No nasty side affects from the coma that I've noticed. I also managed to avoid unexpected trouble on the planet too so that was good. [He says unexpected because he caused a lot of trouble.]

[She heard that sneaky disclaimer.] Only the unexpected trouble, huh? Looks like you're in one piece at least.

Yeah. I'm a pretty resilient kind of guy. A bit like a bouncy ball! What about you? You come away from that planet, alright?

You are such a bouncy ball. [She may bring that back to haunt him.]

Me? Sure. I mean, on one hand, it had nothing on home. [Which is sad. A gang of cannibals raiding scared villages and eating people or sacrificing them should probably at least register. And it does in a way. Anytime killing is so extra unnecessary it bothers her. But she feels detached about anyone they run into who she still suspects to be actors or simulations controlled by the Atroma to get a certain response from the fleet. It's not that she wouldn't save lives in the moment, but none of it feels wholly real to her. Maybe the result of living so long in a shared virtual reality setting in Marina. And now that she knows that people in the fleet come back to life when they die it blunts her feelings about that too and adds more legitimacy to feeling like none of it is entirely real. And this is what bothers her more than any of what actually happened there.]

On the other, we came out pretty intact. Just worried about the people who had trouble with it. We didn't all start at the same point. [She isn't too worried about Vash. He's from a pretty rough place too. She knows it's more the internal struggles that can make it hard.]

Your Earth got that bad, huh? [Rem had always talked so fondly of the world they had to leave behind. While it was dying and losing resources because of what humans did it never sounded like a bad place to be. With so many people on the SEEDs ship it was supposed to make some of that better.

Vash understands there are so many versions of Earth out there. Still, it was impossible to tell if one is the place Rem was from. Maybe it was Kitty's? Probably not, but it was still something he thought about now and then.] I've never been a big fan of cannibals. [They weren't unheard of, but Vash was glad they weren't near to being the majority either.]

Yeah, considering our handicaps going into that planet? We really got out lucky. Huh? I hope Yuri is doing okay.

[The last part is muttered under his breath. Their poor normal person on the ship.]

I wasn't there for it all, but my earth ends with "and then everyone died," so yeah, not great. And constant war before that. Closer to genocide really. [She shrugs as if she could shrug any of that off.] So, you know, upbeat stuff.

As far as crash landing with some of our best fighters gone, sleeping or weakened goes, yeah, we were lucky. We landed someone we could get supplies from non-cannibals. Didn't get attacked directly. Even Chuuya softened the landing and I was around for repairs.

[She heard that.] Me too. I don't think this stuff was normal in ice skating world. [She's aware his world was probably not all ice skating centric, but how would you know?]

I dunno, maybe ice skating is the fastest way to escape from cannibals where he's from.

[Because joking about that was easier than talking about how messed up their homes are.]

[She doesn't mind talking about how messed up hers was. She used to do it to keep people at a distance to keep herself and them safe. Now it just makes it easier to deal with. Might still push other people away unfortunately now that it isn't the goal.]

Yeah, I'm sure that's it. Good thing he landed on our ship and not one full of normal people.

Eh! [Vash shrugs with a smirk.] What is normal these days anyway? And I'm sure whatever normal is that it would be boring!
