I admit I had forgotten about the time of year. I have only been here a short while, and it's not the same month back home.

They are indeed. My first time on Earth ranks highly there.

Although-- [He takes a sip of his drink.] That last planet could challenge that spot.

It's not so often I'm abducted onto a world full of cannibals who are out to get me. It's been one of the more challenging arrivals I've had somewhere.

Earth had far fewer trying to kill me by comparison.

Why is that?

Because not having to rank by attempts to end your life would surely be better for anyone.

True. I tend to rate planets on the opposite scale: who's not trying to kill me. I've definitely been on more of those.

I'm glad to hear it. I tend to visit other worlds in times of strife, so perhaps my take on it is unusual. I find that Earth is very nice most of the time.

It's nice. I like to try to keep it that way.

As do I. A lot of my efforts go towards that.

You live on Earth then?

Yep! Since I was 12.

Oh, that's much longer than me. I've only lived there the last couple of years or so.

[He can at least hazard the guess that it's a few years at least. Whether it's a decade or a century though is something he won't take a stab at yet.]

Where did you live before?

A planet called Krypton, where I'm from. It was a wonderful place that cared deeply about reason and science.

Yes, but they'll only get you so far, I suppose.
