Who: Cyril and OPEN
Broadcast: Fleetwide Video
Action: Wonderduck
When: Daytime
I've heard of a few people finding surprises in the cargo bays of their ships and it seems it's my turn. I wanted to share them - especially for those of us from Thedas.
[He turns then, and shows what he was given. It is a collection of books. He's managed to get them into his room and has them organized by publish date. The first one has the title The Dasher's Men and the last declares itself The Inquisitor Lavellan Story. The only thing stopping this from being a complete collection is the missing copy of Tale of the Champion.]
The nearly complete works of one Varric Tethras. I even have the newest part to Swords and Shields for those of us who like silly romances.
[He smiles in a way that hints he's remembering something fondly.]
I am of course willing to let others borrow them, provided they're treated well. Each one is signed by the author to me and I like having a reminder of home.
[Even more so when the reminder is that somewhere out there his friends actually know him. After a moment, he addresses his shipmates,]
Thank you for everyone on the Wonderduck who helped me get them to my room. They turned out to be rather heavy. Someone needs to tell Varric to write shorter books...

[He cocks his head to Cyril.]
Is that what you did as well, allow the mages to join freely?

[Looking at you, Cullen.
And Vivienne, who he barely brushed paths with on his visit to Skyhold but got the distinct impression that she was looking down her nose at him the entire time. He'd asked Varric about it, who'd explained her position and the fact that she's Orlesian - which could easily explain the haughty demeanor - but Adalwolfe had always gotten the distinct impression she disliked his very existence for other reasons. There's a special kind of contempt he'd come to expect from Templars in Kirkwall and that's the same sort of feeling he'd gotten from her. Baffling, considering she's a mage and he'd have thought she'd be all for the rights and freedoms of mages, but who even knows. There had been Circles he'd traveled to with Anders in the Marches where the Enchanters had practically thrown them out on the doorstep, or tried. Nothing was simple in that whole mess.
Not even Cullen, who'd reformed. He's not sure he'll get used to that, but he'll damn sure be glad the man is at least trying.]

Imagine that.

[He's honestly surprised it worked, both for Cyril here and for the mages in his Thedas' Lavellan's Inquisition. Even though he's always lived by his father's words, that his magic serve what's best in him and not that which is most base, he still was also brought up to expect that the world would view him the opposite regardless of what he did. It will never cease to amaze him that the Inquisitor - any Inquisitor - could achieve in one decision what years of careful living by example never could.]

Perhaps what the Chantry needed was different perspective. At least Divine Victoria seems to understand that.

[He's not from quite that far, as he told Cyril when he'd first arrived, but Leliana had been in the Fleet before and she'd told him what was to come. He hasn't heard yet that there's any other choice but her so he now fervently believes that everything that came before was worth it because Leliana sat herself down in the most powerful seat in Thedas and said 'fuck the Circles'.]
I've always thought the Dalish had the right of it when it came to magic, honestly, supposing the rumors of clans casting out mages if there's 'too many' is just that, a rumor.

[He's glad to hear it. Cyril's opinions on mages make him feel quite at home with the elf too. At least he knows he doesn't need to tip-toe around the subject.]
Glad to have that confirmed though.

The thought that anything like that might have happened to her is horrifying. She is one of the most beautiful people I know. A lot of my ideas about right and wrong come from her.
