[Not long ago she’d been considering the best way to handle Winn’s birthday now that he’s gone and all. She considered enlisting a close friend or two to be on duty for support or distractions or just barricading herself in her room and feeling it and dealing with that. In the end she went with booze. Lots and lots of booze.

When she turns the feed on she’s lying down on a series of three chairs, holding the communicator above her head.]

Did I ever tell you about the time I was in Marina—the underwater prison place—and this tiny alien or robot or possibly dog man thing took over and made it rain fruit punch and then made us dance in a dance marathon and if we didn’t he was going to put us in a room with a moose. And I’m not drunk! [She laughs like she just said something very funny.]

No, no, I mean I am drunk but it’s also true. It was a very strange place. Did you know you had to get a wristband if you wanted to have sex with someone? Yeah. It was like being at a bar and wanting drink. [Speaking of wanting to drink. She looks around for her bottle and then lifts herself up enough to achieve drinking.] Oh! And then it was like enforced monogamy where you could only be with your band partner.

Wristband. Not like music band. You didn’t have to have sex with the person you played the flute with. [More laughing.]

What was I…? Oh, yeah, do you know I haven’t kissed anyone in moooonths? Yeah. Like May. May 10th. [Winn disappeared May 11.] In the prison you couldn’t do that because every two months—if they were months—they would send out these mistletoe robots that would make you kiss someone or lots of someones. Usually lots of someones. They had shrinking forcefields and confetti. I had to kiss a guy without lips once. Did I mention it was a weird place?

[Softer, but she tries to smile through it.] His birthday.

[She knows how ridiculously transparent she is. She was pretty mature about it for 8 months, but there had to be some lower low points eventually.]

Sure. Bring him back. [She knows he can't. She knows she can't even though she keeps trying to work on a way of getting herself to him.]

Oh, Kitty, I'm sorry.

[Lucky her, she got a real, sincere emotion out of him. No wonder she's been this way. His heart breaks for her. ]

If I could, I would do it in half a second.

[Softer still.] I know.

Sorry... [Turning her head away because tears are starting to well up. It really doesn't take much today in particular but also because of all the drinking. Not enough alcohol in the fleet to drown these feels.]

Don't be sorry. You're allowed to be sad about this, you know.

[She absolutely is allowed that. He genuinely wishes he could make it that she didn't HAVE to be sad, but that is beyond his power. ]

Do you need company?

I've been sad about it. I've been sad about it for months. When do I get to be something else about it? [At what point is just boring and annoying her friends who are still here for her? It feels like it's hurting more and not less with time. Maybe because there was more hope for a return early on? These places even making grieving and mending harder.]

Whenever it's the right time to be something else about it. You can't rush these things, it has to be when you're ready.

[It was cruel, always dangling a hope of a return when it might not ever actually happen. ]

I meant in person. I would offer a hug, but I'm afraid you'll have to have one on layway.

Yeah... [It's not a satisfying answer, but a true one.]

You don't have to come over here. I can be pathetic on my own. [And she wasn't going to say it, but yeah, it's not like hugs work that well with drunk people and open flames.]

Hey, if you want to be here in person I'm happy to have you in person. I just didn't mean for anyone to get out of bed in the middle of the night, morning, it's-space-so-whatever.

Kitty. I have literally not gone in my bedroom in the whole time I've been here. I promise you are not getting me out of bed.

Really? Not even for privacy? Or to set things on fire in fury? Or to curse in French a lot?

The translators don't work in French. I can usually get away with that without most people even realising it. But no. It's a lot of work to get in there, and there's nothing I an use in there. Not worth the effort.

Guess that makes sense. Well, it's very low maintenance of you. I spent a lot of time trying to get a bigger room.

Maybe when I get my body back I'll think differently, but that's a big when. [He's been here a while and it sure still hasn't happened yet. ]

Gotta love the body you're in and embrace whatever perks come with it I guess. [She hopes it happens for him, but she's not exactly holding her breath. And this is about as deep as she can get while also being pretty smashed.]

Okay. [She deftly gets to her feet and by deftly we mean she's awkward and stumbly. But she gives herself a minute to focus and then shakes dat ass.]

[Wow, that was like watching a drunken swan dance around. But yep. That was definitely...some ass shaking there. The fact he;s not letchy about it really says how much he cares about Kitty- she's transcended 'someone to hit on' into 'actual family', good job. ]

...Well. Now I absolutely know. Noted.

Somehow I feel like I embarrassed you with that and not myself. Not sure how that's possible, but I'm also drunk so I could be wrong.
