[ New Year’s Eve has come and gone without anything exploding or going awfully wrong and so today is just safe enough for something else. Steve Rogers doesn’t address the network for no reason, after all. Only today he keeps looking back and eventually, calls: ]

Are you really going to stay there throughout the whole thing?

[ There’s a flicker to Steve’s left: dark curls and a flash of a silk blouse as Peggy leans into view. ] Perhaps. After all, of the two of us, you’re the one with experience in addressing the public.

[ But! Fine! Here she is, framed beside him onscreen, and refraining from making any more jokes about the old USO show. ]

Very funny.

[ but he is smiling, small but amused. For all of his experience, he seems as if he’s been practicing his lines for this one broadcast. ]

I know some of you will say this is long overdue, but after months of asking, mostly on her part, I’ve said yes and we’ve decided to get married.

[ -- and that’s when Peggy slaps the back of her hand against Steve’s shoulder, hissing something (something for him alone) about twisting the truth and tarnishing her well-earned cred. ]

I mean, after a careful observation of mutual interests, we’ve decided to get married. What this is really about is a simple matter of proving me right. I’d like you all to tell her three weeks is a perfectly reasonable duration for a honeymoon.

[ She reaches for the device, tugging its focus onto herself. ] -- For God’s sake, don’t encourage him. We’ve only just got engaged; it’s far far too early to start discussing the rest. [ Aside, to Steve: ] I warned you when I agreed to this ridiculous message. Let’s not get ahead of ourselves.

[ But she’s laughing. ]

It's not getting too ahead of ourselves. Call it careful consideration of facts.

[ he'll reach out and close the device for the sake of this banter. ]

[Ok, now he's really was feeling bad that he hadn’t taken the time to catch up with people, including Peggy, for, well, awhile now. Remy really had been rather lax on that since getting back to the Fleet, having not talked to the woman for a rather long time now, and not able to remember if he ever talked to Steve since his arrival.

So why not use this announcement to fix that by adding his comment to the rest of them.] To echo the others, congratulations to ya both, 'nd sounds like ya’ll have many a helpin’ hand for when ya decide the ceremony to be.

[ mister lebeau! what a pleasant surprise. ]

Perhaps too many a helping hand. [ ... ] You know what they say about broths and too many cooks, don't you?

Certainly, which has got me kicked out of kitchens more times than I can remember. Funnily 'nough not everyone shares m' view on spice. [A bit of a sly grin with that before turning it back to the real topic at hand.]

Though, 'gnorin' what I just said, if ya'll do need a hand... [That grin brightening for a moment as he let those words trail off, amused considering what they were just talking about.]

[ -- oh, she just about manages not to break into laughter. cheers. ]

Something tells me things will be spicy enough. Steve can be a bit dramatic.

[ as if she can't. ]

I will have to take ya word on that, I have been poor in m' 'nteractive skills of late 'nd hate to say haven't met the man. Have heard good thing 'bout him. [And maybe poor things now and then from over hearing Loki's need to whine about others. But he never gave Loki any leeway and hardly held the Asgardian in any high regards at all.]

'nd while some may not believe, am able to restrain m'self, thank ya very much, even when it comes to spice. [Though he was hardly insulted or offended by the comment, more amused.]

I'm certain it won't take long for him to introduce himself. [ ... ] He's a touch on the friendlier side.

Now that all depends who ya comparin' to, 'nd would hate to have it 'mplied ya ain't friendly, chere. [As Remy certainly had never had a problem or issue with his previous interactions with Peggy. She had always been polite and friendly.]

'less ya 'mplyin' I ain't a joy to be 'round. [A bright but light grin to go along with his joking.]

-- Let's say only that I'm not known for my friendliness. Not especially.

[Now the question that came to mind with this was: was that something she valued or not? After all, he was use to such people as Rogue, who made it a practice to be 'distant', mostly out of practicality but also almost wore it as a badge of pride. Remy didn't want to counter Peggy on this if it was something she saw as a strength in herself.]

Well, that may be so, but can't say I remember havin' 'ny ill meetin's with ya in the past, 'nd am sure, or hope, that will be the same in the future too. Rather not go makin' 'nymore 'nemies than I gotta.

...Taking my side in this whole honeymoon malarkey would be a good place to start. [ she's joking, surely. ] If you truly did want to avoid making an enemy in me.

[ she's joking, definitely. ]

[He'll wait to see how much of that is joking, though first;] Well, we heard his side, what be ya acceptable 'mount of time for a honeymoon? Or ya mean in the fact it's bein' talked 'bout at all considerin' ya'll just announced?

Surely, it's simply bad form to start fussing about the honeymoon before you're done properly thanking everyone for their warm wishes.

I keep having to remind him that patience is a virtue. Which is impressive, really, because I'm not much known for my patience either.

Ahhh, I don't blame the man, cherie, gettin' 'head of himself like that. Hard not to when ya with a femme ya care 'bout so much. [Not that he would know that. Nope. Not at all. Don't even ask.]

[ too bad. she's nosy. ]

Speaking from experience?

[And deflecting that question with one of his own, putting on that well practiced and charming smile to finish off the effect.] Do I really strike ya as the type to get married?

Depends. Do I?

[ marriage, she's arguing, has little to do with types. ]

[That smile she got back wasn't his normal joking one, or that charming but well practiced one, but one that was more real and warm as he let his first word drawl out.] Well, with how ya look in this message ya puttin' out, or more the fact of who ya doin' it with, yeah cherie, think ya be.

[Good point, well taken.

But doesn't mean he's going to answer that earlier question of her's though.]

Oh, I assure you. That has considerably more to do with the type of person he is than the type I am.

[ implying, maybe, that she doesn't look like this for just anyone. indeed -- it might very well be only him. ]

Either way, chere, still good news. [And seemed to help deflect attention off her question to him.]

Now, too soon or not, I 'ssume honeymoon preparation would have to wait to see how we do with our voyage 'nyways. Wouldn't work well to set a date only to have a repeat of some of the last few stops, by choice or not, that we've had.

'less ya'll, or he, be plannin' a 'staycation' style honeymoon.

I think if there be a scale I fall a little short, not quite acquaintance, but not quite friend, all from m' own lackin' of contact though. I would put it down to blame on recent events, but that would be bein’ too kind to m’self.

[Though, while he was trying to mend old bridges, and create new ones:] Ya be friends with Natasha, non? [Another who had once been acquaintance, again due to him narrowing his circle of friends for a while now.] ‘nd Tony Stark?

Both of them, yes.

[ though tony might not agree with him on that. still, on steve's side, they're still friends who are simply in a very bad place. ]

you've been here a while if you remember tony. though I guess he can make a lasting impression.

He's popped up 'round this place, as well as the last one I was at. 'gain, didn't really get too much past a first meet up or so, but I had to since I do admire the man's work. [Tony had an amazing security system, it was always such a challenge.] Easy to lose track of who comes 'nd goes sometimes, especially when it happens in volumes 'nd ya don't know them that well. [And maybe hold off telling Remy about the whole Civil War thing, being born with his powers and having Sentinels coming after his kind in his world, the idea of being registered wouldn't go down well with him.]
