( Sansa hasn't addressed the entire fleet since she'd first arrived around a moon ago but she feels like if she's going to make an expedition down to the planet below, she ought to have some company. This isn't something she's familiar with, travel through the stars, and the information she's been given about the land beneath them seems appealing. She wants to feel a true ground beneath her feet again and the lure of snow and all that comes with it is hard to ignore. She's pink-cheeked and slightly optimistic when she addresses the fleet. )

I've been wanting to go down below to the planet but since this is my first experience with it, I wondered if someone might like to accompany me? I know my ways are likely different from most of yours but I appreciate your indulgence just this once.

( She presses her lips together and chances a bit of a smile. )

I've heard there's treats and things? It might be nice for a day or so.

( When Sansa gets down onto Selvin-9, the first thing she encounters are snow leopards. They're small, beautiful little things that look rather like spotted jungle cats only their coats are white as snow. She's never heard of such a thing in Westeros and she immediately wants one upon setting eyes on them playing around. She asks around and it seems they're quite tame and able to be taken as pets so she has one on a length of ribbon, a lovely creature she's started referring to as Jonquil. She looks to the person next to her, someone who seems like they might be from the fleet as well. )

Do you see her? Isn't she amazing? I haven't had a pet in a long time. It's just a pity this one won't grow to be much larger than it is right now. I could use something to protect me.

( The advice to dress warmly is well taken and Sansa dresses in the gown and cloak she'd arrived in from Winterfell. It's the only bit of clothing she has that isn't issued by her ship and she prefers to wear it whenever she can. She's happy for the fur lined hood on this cloak, too. He isn't wrong about the cold. When she gets down to the planet, she looks for the Commander. )

Commander? You were not wrong about the chill.

[He smiles to her as he walks over to meet her. He's got on the leather jacket he arrived in himself. It wasn't the warmest ever, but it kept the chill out. Maybe if he found something he liked this time around, he'd look into getting it.]

This snow isn't normal snow, it tastes sweet if you try to eat it, like cotton candy...if you know what that is. But it is still snow.

Anyway, where would you like to go first, Ms. Stark? There's shopping districts, restaurants, an ice rink, some nature areas; just about anything you might want.

I should probably purchase some clothes, if that won't bore you? I only have the gown I came in and the things they provide us in the fleet and they're not satisfactory.

( Sansa laughs a bit, slightly embarrassed. Clothes shopping with someone she barely knows? It's hardly the worst thing she's done but she still feels a little awkward. )

Then we could get something to eat?

[His smile widens from polite to happy, maybe even a little eager.]

I would love to go shopping, actually. I've been focusing on Atroma and how we all got here, I haven't taken much time to look at the goods this planet offers.

And I don't mind admitting it's a pastime I enjoy indulging in when I can.
Come on, the shops are this way.

[He leads her on, closer to the heart of the city, though the shops start well before that point. There's places with gleaming jewlry and fancy accesories and shoes decorating the windows.

As they step onto a major road, a shop comes into veiw with dresses and gowns on display. Across from it, more understated but fashionable clothing options are displayed with a confectioner's shop next door.]

I need to get trousers, apparently, but I know I won't be able to resist more dresses. It's what I'm used to.

( Sansa looks to him, pleased that he seems interested in accompanying her. He's very nice, this Commander Shepard. )

You wouldn't happen to know what kind of trousers I would need to wear during self-defense, would you?

Pants can definitely be more useful than a dress in some cases, especially when fighting.

I'm sure I can help you find something. You'll want something that moves with you, so nothing that loose. Here, maybe in this store?

[He pointed out the storefront with the more understated clothing and moved to hold the door open for her.]

What kind of self-defense will you be learning?

( Sansa shrugs a bit. That, she does not know. This is something Kirk is teaching her and she does not know the particulars. )

I'm not certain. Captain Kirk will be teaching me.

[Shepard nods.]

I haven't spoken with him more than a handful of times, but he seems perfectly capable and a good person.

Probably something more hand-to-hand then, something to use in case anyone you don't want gets too close to you. I understand the fleet had recently left a planet with cannibals by the time I showed up here.

[He looked from her to the selection the store had to offer and led them to a part that seemed promising.]

Cannibals? How am I going to protect myself from cannibals? That's the sort of thing I was told lived beyond the Wall and they would expose me to them here?

( Sansa hasn't been truly afraid in a long time but the idea of cannibals has her damned close to it. )

Why?

[He felt for her, it was never fun having to watch a civilian try and deal with things a soldier was trained for. But then, cannibals where a far cry for him too, he was far more used to dealing with violence of the traditional variety, not worrying about if his enemy is going to try and eat him.]

From what I understand, it was a planet the fleet came to, there was a contingent that had taken over and were hunting the rest of the populace. Those in the fleet defeated and killed a lot of them. I don't think this was 'normal' for what you can expect, but space can be a very dangerous place to travel. That'll always be true.

As for protecting yourself, the self defense lessons will help to keep you from being grabbed, but learning how to use a gun might help to actually fight back, if you want. Otherwise, I'm sure there's people here who could protect you.

A gun? What is that, exactly?

( Sansa likes to think she's picked up on most of the confusing terminology and new concepts here in the Fleet but every once in a while she gets thrown by something and has to ask. She's never had anyone be unwilling to explain, though, and she counts that as a blessing. )

[How did he explain a gun without geeking out and going too much into the science of it? At least he didn't need to explain heat-sinks and scopes and omni tools to her.]

It's a projectile weapon, except it shoots it's ammunition at a speed faster than most humans can see. They're incredibly deadly and dangerous, but they're useful in a fight. And if you know how to use it, you can use it to kill quickly and cleanly without making the other person suffer.
