intro post!
Who: Ulaz and you!
Broadcast: Video Fleetwide
Action: SS Caprine
When: 1/20
[As if waking up on a strange ship alone wasn't enough when Ulaz knew he shouldn't be there, now he was on yet another ship. This really was not funny. His attempts to try and get information through hacking had been poor at best and he was no closer to figuring what had happened.
He had learned one thing though; he did not like confetti. It was not amusing in the least.
He'd been pretty much silent so far - if being a Blade had taught him nothing else, it was how to make as little noise as possible. But now he doesn't really have a choice]
Can someone explain what is going on here? First I was on one ship and now another, neither of them where I should be. This must be a joke.
[And why does he say that? Hmm...]

[The Galra didn't even seem phased by the fact that he had been put in the position of lab support which should be a sign to Shiro that his memories were not faulty, at least regarding that. If Ulaz knew about the larger ships, he'd be glad for a smaller one to adjust to being around a culture he was unfamiliar with.
If he was aware of the irony, it didn't show on Ulaz's face when Shiro introduced himself as the captain of the Blameless]
If you are asking if you can come over to this ship, I don't have a problem with it.
[While Shiro thought that Ulaz had every reason to resent them - and to some he probably did have reason - he held no ill-will against the paladins. Their lives after all were more important than his]

[And so he beams himself up to the Caprine as promise, appearing there mere seconds later. Shiro hurries through the halls, but all that energy comes to a stop when he finds Ulaz. Yes, he freezes again - no network conversation could prepare him for this.]
Ulaz... [After a short moment, he comes closer, touching Ulaz's arm as if checking he is really there.] You're real.

[Yeah, not that he could leave the fleet, but if he wanted to be annoying, he could go to another ship. That wasn't his intention though. It wasn't too long after Shiro spoke that Ulaz was hearing the sound of him moving through the ship and he did make it easier, heading in that direction.
But as Shiro stopped, he did too, tilting his head like he was confused why Shiro had stopped. He quickly got his answer when the paladin came over and put his hand on his arm]
I am. As real as you.

[Yeah, sorry, he's sounding like a broken record right now. But no matter how much he thought about this possible escenario, nothing prepared for the real deal. Shiro swallows and puts his hand away, looking down at his feet in shame.]
Ulaz, I'm so sorry. We couldn't do anything to save you.

I hold no ill will for you and your team. I did what had to be done. The mission of Voltron, of defeating Zarkon is bigger than I am. If I allowed Voltron to continue fight on, then it was worth it.

[A pause, then he finally looks up, his face soft, obviously incredible touched and maybe a bit guilty too. Because even if Ulaz is okay with it, Shiro will always feel a little bit for being the reason he died.]
Thank you. For doing that for the cause, for believing on my team, for believing in me. For rescuing me. I'll always be in your debt.

[He's not surprised that Kolivan hadn't liked him to begin with. That was Kolivan. If he had been with them, he would have argued for them with Kolivan directly. But he hadn't been. The mission was more important than himself, but in someway, it would have been nice to continue the mission alongside Voltron.
At that though, he did reach out and put his hand on Shiro's shoulder]
You have done much for the safety of the universe. Countless worlds are in your debt for having stood up to Zarkon. I at least played some part of it.

[Oh! Ulaz is touching him. That's unexpected, but welcome, especially since it's that little shoulder Shiro likes to do too. It's very different from when Keith does it, Ulaz's hands is much, much bigger - able to actually cover Shiro's whole wide shoulder. Now that's a first one.
His chest almost hurts when he hears those words, it's so nice, but also such a weight on his shoulders. Shiro is proud of what they've accomplished, and he'll fight until he dies, but it feels like Ulaz has unconditional faith in him. It's a bit scary - Shiro's afraid he'll disappoint him.]
Some part? Ulaz, we wouldn't have achieved all the things we did if it hadn't been for you. Voltron and coalition exist thanks to you. I only wish you could be there to see it.
no subject
Maybe not unconditional, but he did have a lot of faith in the abilities of Voltron and Shiro had been a part of getting it going again]
I appreciate the thought. I was doing what I had to do. It would have been nice to have seen it all happen.
[It was an odd feeling, being given so much credit for what had happened]
