[It's been a while, Red Fish, but Natasha Romanoff hasn't forgot that she's got people here to check in on.

She'll be in the kitchen waiting. She figures Carl will come through eventually. If she runs into anyone else while she's waiting, that's fine too.

Where do you kids keep your coffee?]

A. (Back dated to just after leaving the snow planet)

[Velvet spent most of her time in the most recent system collecting food stuff. She did some hunting and some fishing as well as buying various necessities.

She's also bought a few different jars of marshmallow snow stuff, though who knows how long that'll last during the drift. The crew might want to jump on enjoying that ASAP.

Anyway, she can be found in the kitchen restocking and maybe doing some experimental cooking]

B. (During the drift)

[As the drift goes on Velvet gets restless, as usual, which means when she's not blowing off steam on the Iskaulit she's cleaning and tidying up the Red Fish. Whether it really needs it or not.

She can also be found checking on all the pets they've accumulated. She checks a lot on the slugs, actually. She's still kind of worried about them mutating due to malevolence.]

[Velvet spends a lot of time in the kitchen for someone who can't taste anything. She's maybe a bit surprised to see Natasha there.]

Do you just show up in everyone's kitchen?

[She remembers that time she was hanging out in the Starstruck's kitchen, too]

It's a good place to wait for people. Less awkward than sitting around in someone's bedroom.

[She'd definitely prefer Natasha ninjaing into kitchens than bedrooms]

Who are you waiting for?

[The ice planet was a nice reprieve after a hectic few months, and Rose is sad to see the Fleet return to drift. But she'd become familiar enough with the Fleet to realize that such things were an inevitability, and she's determined to make the Red Fish as close to a home as she can.]

[Part of this includes the purchase of several potted plants that she's used to decorate the lounge and kitchen. At the beginning of each day, she can be found watering the plants and doing general upkeep, including dusting and cleaning.]

[Otherwise, she's usually curled up on the sofa in the lounge with a set of paints, or enjoying a cup of tea in the kitchen. Even if she's not going out of her way to make contact with her ship mates, she at least looks less miserable now.]

Carl. We have a standing training date, at least when no planets are exploding and no one's trying to eat us.

[ Well, she's definitely not wrong. Hopefully she's not waiting too long when he finally shows himself, intent on getting something to eat. He doesn't expect her to be sitting there waiting, and he wracks his brain to figure out if he missed something. ]

[ After finally having a planet to set foot on, people have come and go from the ship, which is more than understandable. Even if it was pretty cold, it was good to actually be somewhere. Now that they're gone, everyone is back and the ship seems more full. It's good to be able to check on everyone again. He just happens to wander into the kitchen when Velvet is cooking something up. ]

What are you concocting this time?

[ The addition of the plants are hard to miss, but they make the ship feel a little more homey. Less like a metal prison, at least. The Red Fish is full of irregular sleepers and more than a few insomniacs, so it's hard to tell who is up early and who is still up. Either way, people move around at all hours. Carl's on his way to the engine room when he crosses paths with Rose, watering the aforementioned plants. ]

[ Now that they're back to drifting, the work begins again- not that it really ever stops. He can be found in various parts of the ship, opening electrical panels trying to find the problem, or in the engine room going general upkeep on the engine. Help him out or say hi? ]

[ When he's not keeping busy making sure the ship doesn't fall from the sky, he can be found in the lounge reading a book or a stack of comics, or in his room with the door open. Feel free to bother him or even sit with him and pick up a book! Maybe you even spot him in the cargo bay, paying attention to the fluff slugs, sitting on the floor and watching them crawl up his arm. They're soothing, okay? ]

Hey. [It could be she's been waiting a while. She doesn't seem bothered by it, though.] Coffee? Or are you too young for that.

Not that Velvet is an overprotective big sister type, but she's totally an overprotective big sister type.

And she's not sure how she feels about that.

Although she knows Carl can actually hold his own in a fight. He's proved that.

Or something like it.

[Obviously it can't be exact since the boars on the snow planet weren't actual prickleboars. But it's as close as she's been able to get since arriving in space.]

It's something I used to make a lot back home. Pretty basic, but hearty.

I'm not 'too young' for coffee, I just don't like it much. Or I haven't found what works, I guess.

Yeah, that's right.

[Look she's been around awhile but she doesn't really know what Natasha is capable of. Aside from ninjaing into kitchens. And trolling.]

Yeah. You can tell me how it tastes. It smells about right, but I can't really perfect the flavor on my own.

[She puts a piece of sausage on a plate for him to try. It's a nice meaty piece of sausage, though she maybe went a little light on the spices because she wasn't sure what would work best with this particular kind of meat.]

[Rose turns to look at Carl. Even though they've been on the same ship for awhile, they've never really had a reason to talk. She's not quite sure what to expect.]

Yes. If we're going to be stuck on this ship indefinitely, it seemed worthwhile to do something to make it feel like home.

I can do that. It does smell really good, Velvet.

[ He gets a fork and tries it, thinking about the flavor. It's good to him, but he's not a food expert. Or picky by any means. ]

I really like it, but I don't know if that says much.
