[Duotera] Option 1A: Shutterbug!
[He might have looked like he was holding it together pretty well, but Pete was definitely freaking out. In a good way, admittedly- it really shouldn't come as much of a surprise to anyone who knew the little nerd that he was basically happier than a kid in a candy store right about now. Sure, this wasn't the first time he'd been on an alien world- he did do a little exploring back on the last planet, but this one was on a completely different level. And much busier.

So it won't be too uncommon to find him with a permanent smile on his face, weaving his way through the crowds with his camera. He's practically glued to it- taking pictures of everything from the crowds, the skyline, the parks, heck he even pays a visit to some big trade convention going on and gets shots of all the action. He doesn't really know what he'll do with them, since he doesn't even have the ability to download any of the pictures he's taking, but...well, at this point it's just a way to contain his excitement.

It's tourist season, and it doesn't seem like the locals mind him much- especially since he does at least have the sense to keep out of people's way and apologize when he ends up underfoot- but maybe lend a helping hand and force him to take a break once in a while? Or you know, strike a pose and ham it up for the camera. He'd likely be fine with either!]

[Duotera] Option 2A: D-List Superhero

[Okay, so maybe this big city was a little different from the one he was used to- certainly more of a normal bustling metropolis instead of, say, a giant concrete and steel zoo for the criminally insane- but that didn't mean an enterprising superhero couldn't save the day! It was just in decidedly more mundane ways. But those heroics were important to somebody all the same!

Which is why it's not all that uncommon to see some guy in red and blue tights swinging around the city, doing not-so-glamorous things like returning someone's dropped bag or a nicked wallet. Or rescuing weird blue cats from trees. Or even saving some poor alien kid's kite from a kite-eating tree in the park. Those "rescues" took a little more care in the approach, since there wasn't a whole lot to swing from- he was certainly cutting it close to head-level every time he crossed over one of the foot paths.

Heck, at one point, he could even be found helping reinforce some weird alien hanging sculpture in the Crafter's Hall after some cables started to fray and snap. A relatively small-scale disaster that, sure, while some of the bigger pieces could have hurt someone if they fell, still felt a lot more like being a super-handyman more than a superhero. Still, the orange-skinned artist down below seemed to be grateful for the assist, even if it did mean Spidey spent an awful lot of time just swinging and scurrying back and forth across the ceiling keeping everything in place until more permanent repairs could be finished.

But hey, it seemed like a few people actually liked the webbed-up look! Shame it wouldn't last forever- even on Earth, his webs tended to break down over time, but it seemed to happen even faster on this planet. So enjoy the unexpected collaboration while you can!]

[All] Option B: Special Delivery!

[Hey, even superheroes have to pay the bills. And considering he was still relatively new to this side of the multiverse (and way behind the curve when it came to the tech involved), he didn't have a whole lot of skills to bargain with.

So hey, your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man is... making deliveries. Nothing huge of course, since he's delivering everything by hand, just the little things people couldn't seem to do without- or just couldn't be bothered to go get themselves. Either due to the crowds, the weather, or the desire to have whatever it was they wanted right that instant.

Though, speaking of weather, Ebrion in particular was certainly doing a number on him, and you'd be hard pressed to find a more pitiful sight than a superhero shivering uncontrollably and trying to keep his teeth from chattering. Although considering the massive cold shock that came from swinging through the air in freezing temperatures, at least he's kept wide awake and plenty alert of his surroundings.

Take that, overpriced space coffee! ...but seriously, as far as his time on Ebrion is concerned, he could really go for some overpriced space coffee. He'd even accept space tea, or space hot cocoa at a small but no less arbitrary mark-up! So long as it was something hot.]

[ He's spotted Peter a few times as he's been wandering the streets. At first he was on a corner, taking pictures of people milling about. The second had been as he was weaving through crowds, a dopey grin on his face and that camera either up, or clutched in his hands. He's got to be new, right? Carl's never seen him before. ]

Have you been doing this nonstop since we got here?

[ It's been most of the day, surely he's getting tired, right? ]

[And not surprisingly, the shutterbug's not going to acknowledge that question until he finishes the latest shot he's lined up. Though that's got much less to do with any sort of dedicated, professional approach to his work and way more to do with his continued excitement over being on a super-bustling alien planet.

Once that's out of the way though, he is at least polite enough to find the time to pry himself away from his camera for a little human interaction.]

I wouldn't say nonstop, but...

[Well, he can't very well follow that with "some of it's been spent swinging around in a colorful costume" so he'll just have to bite the bullet with this one.]

...okay, yeah. More or less. But I mean come on, you can't tell me this isn't cool!

[ He's excited, and he definitely has the right- especially if this is his first planet. Carl remembers what it was like for his first few. ]

I mean, it's pretty cool. It's definitely better than the last two.

Did you just get here?

Hey, where I'm from, the closest thing we ever found to alien life was space ooze. This is something sci-fi geeks could only dream of seeing.

[It's him, he's the sci-fi geek. This is almost enough to make up for the whole "kidnapping" thing. Like, this right here is enough to get the Atroma to around 99.9% forgiven status, alright?]

I think I've been here about a month? Maybe? Still trying to get used to telling time when the sun's almost always out.

[It's easier on the planets at least. Though, it might still take some getting used to here on a world in a binary star system.]

I'm guessing you've been around longer than that, huh?

[Color Mantis a few shades of surprised. He's never seen someone with such a brightly colored outfit, let alone one who seems to have abilities he's never even heard of. Bundled up well, he walks closer to the man swinging around like a different kind of Tarzan.]

Are you human? [There's a sore temptation to float up to join this stranger, but he'll keep to the ground. For now.] You're shaped like one, but that doesn't mean much.

[He's gonna just lower himself via web line to continue this conversation. Not that he's going to bother turning himself right-side up though- he seems perfectly comfortable just hanging there, suspended upside-down.]

Well I mean, last time I checked, yeah. Full human!

It's for the best, really- I mean, that ever changes, I'm gonna have to rethink the whole "Spider-Man" thing, you know?

[And he's already got the little business cards so it'd just be a whole ordeal he just does not have time for]

Sooooo...I gotta ask, so please don't take this the wrong way or anything, but uh...what's with the gas mask?

[Mantis does a slow circle as this...Spider-Man? Comes closer to the actual ground.]

Most humans can't hang around from webs like this. You can see why one might wonder.

[He can practically hear the youth radiating off the young man. And he waves off the question with one hand.]

People ask all the time. And it's mostly for professional reasons. Not every job calls for a suit and tie.

Hey, plenty of 'em manage with wires- you ever been to a circus?

[Though, privately, even he'd admit it could get pretty tiring. Luckily there was usually enough adrenaline involved that it was pretty easy to forget it was all just one incredibly difficult workout.

Admittedly he has a far harder time thinking up many more examples of ordinary jobs that require gas masks. But he can think of one.]

...also, in the admittedly unlikely event you've got that headgear because your'e some sort of roving, freelance exterminator, I'd like to stress the Spider-Man thing again. You know, for purely selfish self-preservational purposes.

[Don't mind him Mantis, he makes dumb jokes when he starts getting nervous, especially when it comes to personal safety. And seriously, even if he won't ever actually say it, that ensemble makes you look pretty creepy, buddy.]

Only a few times and what you're doing is very different than an aerialist.

[Mantis takes a step forward. Then one up slightly into thin air...only it stays there. He soon stands a good foot off the ground.]

I like most animals an insects. What this mask gives me is a bit of intimidation to throw around. [He laughs.] Although I did occasionally exterminate back home, it was purely out of self defense or orders from above.

[He extends his hand.] Psycho Mantis: soldier in unexpected retirement.

[ Peter certainly isn't the only one experiencing absurd rushes of excitement at being on an alien world, and chances are they've actually run past each other a few times already. Lioriley certainly noticed him more than once, curious as to where he was running to in such a hurry — but mostly, silently wondering what it was he was holding in his hands and clicking repeatedly. She had never seen a camera before in her life, and she honestly could not even fathom what he might be doing.

When he seems to have slowed down — or simply stopped for longer than two seconds to take a picture — she approaches him, a hand reaching out to gently tap his arm and get his attention. ]

Excuse me? Might I ask what that is? [ Motioning to the camera. ]

[He'll jump a bit at the tap, only to turn around and just... stare. Because pretty purple person and he's hopeless. But to his credit, he'll shake it off fairly quickly- literally, he's pretty hopeless and has to literally shake his head to avoid being a slack-jawed doofus, here.]

Sorry, uh...it's a camera! ...buuuuuuut I'm guessing that doesn't help much, if you didn't...recognize what a camera is...

[He's a good kid, just let him take a moment to think this over, try to come up with a way to explain it in a better way than "it's a thing you still don't recognize." And also in a way that doesn't involve nerding the heck out.]

[ She puts her hands up, making sure he can see that she does not mean him any harm. ] Forgive me, I did not mean to startle you so.

[ his description does nothing to help her understand, but she doesn't seem particularly perturbed by it. It makes sense that he knows what it is, and probably comes from a world where people don't have to explain simple things to confused elves. ]

Unfortunately I do not. We do not have such advanced devices where I am from. [ she assumes it's advanced anyway. most things here seem to be. ]

[He'll wave off that apology with a smile, because really, it's nothing]

Oh, don't worry about it- I just got a little too into it is all!

[He does at least have what he thinks is a decent way of approaching explaining the whole camera thing, at least.]

Hm. Well... I guess you could think of it kinda like painting? Just, way faster, and without the mess. There's a button at the top that you press, and it makes an image of whatever you're pointing it at!

[He's...going to stay well clear of any high tech explanations here. If only because he doesn't wanna overload the poor woman right off the bat like that.]

Kinda like the network devices they gave us, only much more low-tech. You couldn't talk to anyone with it, and it can't record video.

[Ochako's a sky nerd, so she spends a lot of time looking up, which is how she notices an unexpected figure swinging around the rooftops, doing random good deeds for people. Immediately intrigued - at first because she thinks for a second that it might be Sero, and then, once she realizes it isn't, because it's still someone in a costume - she follows along.

It's hard to keep pace from the ground, though, so before too long she surrenders and floats herself (wobbily) up to one of the roofs in his general area, scanning the horizon for a proper glimpse of him once she's up there.]

[Admittedly he's a little too used to disastrous situations, so when he sees Ochako just shakily floating up to the roof he assumes she's actually moving in the other direction and immediately makes his way over- earning more than a few choice words from the angry alien drivers of various flying vehicles as he narrowly avoids getting flattened along the way. Or from people less than appreciative of having some web lines anchored to the undercarriage of their shiny new flying car.

Of course, once he gets close enough, he figures out she is not in fact falling to her doom, and abruptly changes course to land on the rooftop. You've been spared a well-meaning mid-air tackle this day, Ochako.]

Wow, I gotta say- in my experience? People usually fall in the other direction. So hey, points for originality!

[Stiiiill gonna take a bit for the adrenaline rush from the panicked "OH NO SOMEONE'S GONNA DIE" reaction to fade, but he'll get over it.]

[she'd probably have tried to suplex him in mid-air, so lucky both of them, or something

She jumps and turns to face him, eyes wide and bright.]

Oh, there you are! You're really fast, you know? I couldn't keep up at all.

[she's wandering over to try and get a better look at him- or more specifically, his costume.]

[The weird thing is? That'd be about par for the course, as far as his life goes.

Still, harmless as Uraraka might seem, this is still well outside the behavior he's used to. And this is still an unfamiliar and very much unwelcome situation- intergalactic kidnapping and all. So he doesn't stay fully upright for long, and quickly drops down to a posture that'd let him quickly leap away if need be. Almost squatting, really- even if he's keeping at least one hand on the ground. The costume's not really anything special, either- if anything it's probably a whole lot simpler than what she's probably used to. More or less just a full body suit of tights with a web motif and a little stylized spider emblem in the center of the chest. Also little web-themed wings under the arms, probably to assist with any aerial acrobatics.

And while his new posture might seem a little on the defensive side, he's not being overly defensive here- just enough to keep his options open. He's at least not backing away or preparing for any sort of fight.]]

Well, faster than most, but let's not get carried away. Gravity's doing most of the work- well, I mean, gravity and inertia, and... nevermind.

[With the right circumstances- and grip strength- she wouldn't be much slower. For one swing, anyway. He could swing around all day, but Pete didn't have any illusions about just how exhausting it'd be for most people to attempt more than just your basic Tarzan swing.]

So, uh... girlie... [he was not the best at this- his interactions were usually more spur-of-the-moment when he was in costume, at least as far as anyone not in a costume was concerned. Usually not much more than just making sure everyone was unharmed. And things were usually much more dangerous, so any social failures could be overlooked.]

How can your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man be of assistance? I mean, I gotta say, this is easily the most laid-back metropolis I've ever seen, but that's okay! I will absolutely help with the small stuff!

[Until the Big Stuff happens, anyway, but this city's been remarkably peaceful so far. He had yet to see a single lunatic in an outlandish costume wreaking havoc, it was both incredibly nice and incredibly boring, all at once.]

[Ochako has no real concept of 'safe distance' or 'personal space', so she's all up in his business as much as he'll allow. Not actively poking or grabbing at him, but closer than what might be normal for most people.]

Spider-Man, is that your codename? It's very fitting, I like it! And I love your costume, too... so colourful. I don't really need help or anything, I just wanted to watch what you were doing. Are you on patrol?

Oh, cool- thanks! Always nice to be appreciated!

[Although he can just feel Jameson getting his dander up over it, back in whatever corner of the multiverse he came from. He's also going to just spring off to the side to get some space again, though he's at least being polite about it- he's still sticking fairly close, and he does have a reason prepared for it. And for why he seems to be circling around Ochako and giving her outfit the same scrutiny, even though it didn't really look like it was any sort of hero costume.]

Well, I was, but like I said- not a whole lot happening. Might've got my hopes up a little, hearing stories of planets way worse than this one.

[And he's gonna just keep right on circling around- and he seems weirdly at ease moving around low to the ground on all fours like that. Clearly the name didn't just come from the webs.]

How'd you get up here, anyway? I'm not hearing any tech- and I'll be honest, not seeing a lot of places to hide it. I mean, even Vulture had that hump on his back just to power his, and that was the smallest hover tech in town.

Mm, that's good, though! No crime makes for a happy city.

[It's about as far from a costume as one can get; she's very clearly wearing civvies, which probably makes her appearance here even stranger. Once she notices that he's keeping a safe distance, she stops trying to approach, though it doesn't keep her from looking.]

I don't hover, I float! I can get rid of gravity when I touch something.

[That must be nice. Though he'll keep his incredibly cynical griping to himself- not everyone has a veritable zoo of supervillains and one very angry sandbox to deal with, plus all the usual street crime.]

Seriously? Like, pat yourself on the back and you float? Heh, cool!

[It might be hard to read any kind of facial expressions through that mask, but he's used to that and usually finds other ways to emote in-costume- he even perks up a bit just to give her something visual to work with- and, lame jokes aside, he is impressed. Because he's a nerd.]

Man, you get close enough, you could probably handle half my menagerie of malicious meatheads easier than I can- or at least make Rhino float around like the world's dumbest parade float.

[A mental image that will not be leaving him anytime soon, thanks. Just let him enjoy it for a while.]

Menagerie of... oh! You mean villains!

[Holy crap is this guy a pro? He sounds way too young for that, and she's immediately intrigued.]

Are you someone's sidekick? Don't tell me they make you fight villains all by yourself.

[She will give them a very stern talking to on your behalf, buddy.]

[Being the Totally Professional Hero he is, he focuses only on the important things about what she's just said]

Well, nobody makes me- hold on, sidekicks? You have those? And actual superheroes to show 'em the ropes?

[And Spider-Sulk is a go- he'll even move back up to a crouch just to cross his arms and make his displeasure with the universe visible]

Now I definitely feel cheated. You got superhero mentorships, and all I got was some comic books and one heck of a difficulty curve!

Wait, you don't...?

[what the heck?? is this guy from like, in the early-Quirk era of his world? Because that sounds terrifying. She can't imagine fighting villains alone.]

Um, I guess that means you don't have a school for it, either...

You have a school?!

[Well, there's her answer.]

Oh I am so choosing your world over mine when this show's over.

[Well, not really- tempting as it is- but incredibly unfair revelations aside, he's still gotta do what he can to keep Peter Parker and Spider-Man's personalities as separated as possible. Especially since he has no way of knowing if the network might blow his cover on its own.]

Ah... we have lots of schools, actually... just about everybody has a Quirk in my world, so people have to learn how to use them properly. And there's so many villains that being a super hero is a real job, so we go to school for training. See, look!

[She fishes around in her pocket for a moment and draws out a her provisional license, the design similar to Deku's but with the obvious change of displaying her personal info as well as the hero name "Uravity".]

[...he has no idea what that is. But he can guess, at least. He'll ask about the name later, but for right now...]

Please tell me you don't show this to everyone. Or anyone- not that I can read any of it, but still...

[He'll put his antics on hold for now and stand up like a normal person- mostly just because, where he comes from? This is sorta something he'd never do and honestly he's kind of horrified on her behalf, here. ~~Even if their respective worlds operate under WILDLY different rules for the whole superhero thing~~]

Did any of the people teaching you kids go over the point of a secret identity?! Alias, costume, that's it! People figure out any more than that, things get ugly!

[Ochako in turn looks positively mortified by his suggestion, leaning back with wide eyes and clutching the card to her chest.]

What? No way! Vigilantes are super illegal! If anyone caught me doing that I'd be in big trouble, and it's way more dangerous to start doing hero stuff without any training!

[Why would she not show off her card?? She's so proud of it!]

What kind of crazy, rule-friendly villains do you even-

[He's going to take a pause here so he can quiet down a bit- don't wanna wake up the other side of the planet, and it's not her fault her universe is crazy.

Deep breaths, webhead.]

Look, I get that last part- I really wish I'd had somebody to show me the ropes before going out, believe me.

[Though part of him does doubt there's a class on how to deal with henchmen in attack choppers- he's had a fun learning curve and it's weird knowing there's apparently lesson plans about this stuff.]

If you really gotta carry that thing around, fine- obviously, things are... different where you come from. But one costumed hero to another- I mean, I hope have one- supervillains aren't exactly known for playing fair. They ever figure out who you are, that doesn't mean they'll come gunning for you. Some of 'em go straight for the people around you first.

[man he's getting real offended over things he doesn't know anything about. his world must be rough.]

Villains weren't really that serious a problem until recently, though? There are enough heroes around to cover just about any disaster that comes along. And since almost everyone has Quirks, it's not like a hero's family is totally helpless, either.

[She tucks her card back into her pocket where it belongs.]

I guess things are changing now, since it's getting more dangerous... but it's kinda late for our class to keep things a secret.

[He's tempted to keep pushing the matter, really he is- especially since, powers or not, he definitely would not like the idea of villains going after family, it's still a serious problem. But instead he takes a deep breath, reminds himself the whole ID Card thing or license or whatever definitely wasn't her idea, and lets it go. For now, at least.]

Okay, bridge to cross later, if that's ever a thing I guess. Most everybody here seems harmless enough anyway, it's fine.

[Even if he definitely doesn't like it. He can at least keep an eye out in less obvious ways in the meantime, and maybe size up what she can do in the process. Heck he might be worrying over nothing for all he knows.]

Wisdom of hero licenses aside, you wanna, I dunno... go on patrol? I've never really had the chance to work with another hero before. Even for the little stuff.

[Well, not with one that didn't end up trying to put him in a morgue, anyway. And Ochako at least seemed to have a good head on her shoulders, and not trying to crush his. Which was a plus.]

[G A S P

Just look at the way her eyes light up at the suggestion. Clearly he chose well.]

Oh my gosh, yes! I totally do! I don't have my costume, though- ah, can you wait? I can grab it, it'll just take a little bit- don't go far!

[Then she turns around and runs right off the roof before he can answer. You better not vanish, Spidey, or she'll be pissed!]

[That is an astonishing level of enthusiasm, and he was not prepared for this. Though once the surprise wears off, he gets a fresh dose of it because oh my god don't just jump off-

oh, right. Floaty powers. No need to chase after.

He'll still be around once she comes back, it's...a slow day, really. And since he's not about to start webbing people up for jaywalking, he'll just be killing time exploring the block from the rooftops...or anything else relatively high up. He's not opposed to just hanging out under light posts or under a particularly tall tree, and at least staying up high means she should have an easier time finding him again.]

[which is good because she's really not the most observant in the world

She comes running back a short while later after a quick trek to her ship, decked out in her costume, as promised. She spots him on the light post and halts beside it, looking up at him with a wave.]

Ta-da! I'm ready!
