So if anyone would like to join me, I'm going to take one of the shuttles and do a small spin around the binary stars and get a look at them. Nothing dangerous, but a binary star system with three habitable worlds - admittedly two of them with narrow zones, but still - is incredibly rare and I want to take this opportunity to get as much data as we can.

So yeah, I'll be going out periodically, and I would love company, if anyone wants to come along. You will have to put up with me dropping into a lot of science geekery. And that's a warning, not an apology.

<sub>[ As much as he does like his city life, he finds himself more attracted to the hiking options. It makes him glad he's kept his Star Fleet boots these past few years made for just the purpose. He would go out early in the morning and often not return until late in the evening, but he never went to very far, unless he had a partner. Number one rule of hiking after all - buddy system.

At night he liked to peruse the bars and even partake in some of the gambling opportunities. He usually didn't indulge, but he couldn't resist the thrill of a good card game now and then and the chance to laugh it up over drinks, make new friends. And walk away with a few more credits. Failing that, he loved a good night club. Dancing and the beat? A wonderful way to let loose, and if he recognized you, he most definitely might be pulling you in for a dance.

Naturally he wound his way towards the Crafter's Hall. He himself didn't have a hand or eye for this type of thing, but he could appreciate those who did, and he thought it might be nice to pick up some items to take back to the ships, liven them up. He always did have a fondness for abstract or natural looking pieces, pieces with motion to them. He could be found admiring pieces, and at several points walking out with packages in his arms. ]</sub>

<sub>[ What else is there really to do on Philias but swim and work on your tan? Well, Kirk didn't really need the tan or want one - he could practically hear Bones in his head yelling at him about radiation and skin cancer. But with the security of plenty of sunscreen and the confidence once can only have in tiny blue boxer-brief style swim shorts, Kirk takes to the beaches.

He can be found sunning himself and reading from a tablet, sometimes making notations. Other times he's simply watching the oceans, sipping one of the local drinks, and when he needed to burn off the calories he rose to go play in the surf.

And, yes, he's really trying not to look to hard at the Nunnilis in swim suits. ]</sub>

<sub>[ Someone has been following him. That much he knows. Ever since he left a shop earlier that day,
he could feel someone at his back. He never quite saw them, but he could feel them. With as long as he had spent out in space, discovering new things and more than once being hunted, he knew what it felt like. Gave him the damn creeps.

He licked his lips and kept on like nothing was wrong, going about his originally planned day before suddenly cutting through the streets, moving at random to try and confuse whomever was following him,
looking for some way to go up or possibly down. His heart hammered and he really wished he had brought a weapon with him as he continued along his path, finally seeing a set of stairs leading up a building and quickly making for them, hoping his follower wouldn't think to look up. ]</sub>

( Sansa is playing the Game. The Fleet requires her to do things in order to keep her ratings up and earn gold and she has discovered that the things she's done so far have earned her a little gold but not as much as she thinks will be necessary to stow away in case of an emergency. Kitty's words ring in her head about doing things in order to make the Atroma like her more and that is how, exactly, she has wound up in what passes for a swimming costume on Philias. )

( It has two pieces and leaves swathes of skin uncovered, pale skin that's only ever seen the light for one person. Sansa is a little self-conscious about the sheer number of scars she has but luckily most of them are pale pink and only slightly raised up - some of them are just starker white against her pale skin. If she doesn't freckle too much and if she doesn't burn, perhaps no one will notice the scars. The worst of them are on her back and she can hide them with her hair but the flay marks, well. They'll just have to be explained away by something else. She's ready to turn back and go to the ship when she sees Captain Kirk. He, at least, is someone she likes and considers trustworthy. )

Captain? Do you mind the company or should I go find another part of this beach to sit on?

<sub>[ To say he is rather shocked to see Sansa in a swimsuit - much less a two-piece of all things - is an understatement. As conservative as she had struck him in their short time knowing each other, he would never have dreamed she would make this sort of jump into modern attire. It's quite daring, and he's not sure if he should be proud or concerned.

He gets up from his chair and motions for her to take it, pulling up the towel and offering it out to her at the same time as a way to cover up if she desired. ]</sub>

( Sansa takes the towel and wraps it around herself, grateful for the opportunity to cover up a bit in a way that is deemed socially acceptable for this particular planet and system. At least Jim is someone she can trust and he's shown it again by being a gentleman. )

_{[ He turns and finds a nearby chair to bring up alongside the one he had been on. He sat down, facing her, stretching out his legs. His own body sported a few scars here and there, though nothing as extensive as Sansa's. A large black tattoo went down his left rib cage - a set of letters, numbers, and a symbol that read NCC [ Star Fleet Symbol ] 1701. There was another on his inner right forearm, though that was smaller and more delicate by far. ]}

Yeah, a bikini is quite the jump from what I've seen you dressing in.

Have you taken a dip, yet?

I don't know how to swim. It's very cold in the North, you see, so it's not often that we get the chance to get in the water.

( Sansa sees the tattoos and it's not something she's ever seen before. It's not something common in Westeros and she's never seen anything marking a person's body aside from scars. )

How do you have ink upon your skin?

No? It’s a lot of fun. We should try wading later. There’s a pool on the Iskaulit if you want to learn. Calmer and safer than the ocean. Lance might be a good teacher.

_{[ With a very strict talking to first, but he did think it would be a good skill for her to learn. The question about his tattoos earns a chuckle. ]}

It’s called a tattoo. It’s made by puncturing the skin with a needle dipped in ink and when the skin heals the ink is trapped beneath, and becomes permanent.

That sounds like it's incredibly painful.

( Sansa likes how it looks, though. It's something beautiful that comes through pain instead of misery and disgust - much different than anything she's experienced. )

How badly did it hurt?

Not to very much. It was sore for a couple of days after, but in my time it's a quicker method than in years past. It's like a patch and it's put on you and it quickly pierces you and is removed all at once. A hundred or so years before you used a single needle and had to sit for hours. You can still get it done that way, but I chose the easy route.

_{[ He titled his head, amused, nodding to her. He turned so he was sitting with his ribs sideways to her, one leg tucked beneath him on the chair. ]}

Sure, go head. You can feel it. It's a tiny bit raised - it is technically a wound after all - but it's not dramatic.

( Sansa runs her fingertips over his skin and it does feel the tiniest bit like a scar but it’s beautiful instead of ugly like hers are. She likes it even if it’s not something she’s ever seen before now. )

I wish I had something like this instead of my scars.

_{[ He couldn’t help but glance at said scars. He had seen them, but chosen not to comment. Scars like that had stories attached. Stories people would tell in their own time or not. ]}

You know, you don’t need smooth skin to get a tattoo. A good artist can work with you, create something to fit you. The best will make it look like they were never there at all.

Considering the advancements on this planet, I bet we could find some cosmetic doctors that might be able to help with them too if that’s what you want.

They’re a part of me. I don’t think it would be right if they were gone completely. I could cover them up, though.

( Sansa has no idea what she would even have put on her skin to cover her scars. It would have to be something meaningful, she thinks, something good to replace the bad. )

NCC-1701. The official designation number for my ship back home, official name of the Enterprise. It’s my home, more than Earth ever felt like. Its a way to keep it close - to anchor me to the present and help me find my way home when I am lost.

_{[ He held out his forearm to show her the crisp series of numbers. ]}

These are the coordinates for Earth, at least according to Star Fleet. Think of them like a map point. Its my home planet, the place where it all started. So I keep it close, but not as close as my ship.

( Sansa has no idea what would mean so much to her other than the wolf of House Stark. That, she thinks, is the only thing she'd find worthy of inking across her skin. )

Do you think that there's a way to get one of these in the Fleet?

Oh, for sure. I bet we can find you a good shop on the middle planet - Dortea, I think. They can work up something for you and see about getting you a design if it's something you really want to do.

Tattoos aren't permanent anymore, but the removal process is painful, so make sure it's something you really want. But if you do want it, I'll help you find someone.

I don't know. I think it's something I'd have to be absolutely sure about before I did it.

( Sansa gives his tattoo another long, wistful look. It is beautiful and she does like the idea that she might be able to cover her scars. )

If I got one, I think I would want a wolf. Like my wolf, Lady?

I'm sure we could find someone to accommodate that. If you describe her. I don't know they could get something photorealistic, but they could do something stylized for you. Point is, we could find you someone who could give you what you wanted.

It is permanent, though. It is something to go into with a great deal of deliberation.

( Sansa doesn't know if she's ready for that just yet. She touches the numbers on Jim's arm again. )

What about words, though? Small words?

Those are absolutely doable. They're fairly common - especially in my world. And they can be put practically anywhere. I have mine on my lower arm, but we could put yours higher on the arm if you wish to hide it with your sleeves, easier, or some people put them on a shoulder.

If I put it on my shoulder, I could hide it with my gowns and with my hair, yes?

( Sansa thinks such a thing ought to be hidden and only shown for those she wishes to show it to. )

Easily, yes. It's why it's a popular spot for things like that. But really, it can go wherever you want, wherever you're comfortable with it, if you are comfortable with it.

I might do it someday. I want something of House Stark to cover everything that has been done to me. I just want it to feel right when I do it.

That's a good way to go about it. I got these after... well, a traumatic experience. It helped with my recovery, mentally. They continue to do so.
