It's Wintersend! (Or roughly around the equivalent of when it would be back in Thedas. [Actually it's a bit late but whatever CLOSE ENOUGH]) Time to party! Riona found a small party hall to rent on Duotera, in an area that's a bit more reminiscent of early spring.

There are decorations everywhere. Don't worry guys, this isn't meant to be formal. This is just what happens when Riona gets to decorate unsupervised.

There are, of course, plenty of food and drinks. The food is mostly finger snacks, but there are also sandwiches and the like. As for the drinks: yes, they are mostly alcoholic, she knows how you folks roll.

As Wintersend is theater season, Riona compromises for the lack of actual theater with a rigged projector playing movies on the far wall. With a variety of genres running, there'll hopefully be something for everyone, and serves as a place for the more introverted to get away from the party for a bit.

And because it's Wintersend, that means presents. There's a separate table off to the side away from the food where people can place their presents for each other.

The goal is to have something for everyone, and to encourage everyone to have fun. Eat, drink, be merry and all that jazz!

"Oh my goodness! This is adorable!" Riona gushes over her puzzle box, moving the pieces around and trying to get them to match up as she beams at Cyril. "Thank you very much! I didn't know you made puzzle boxes."

He smiles at her joy at the gift. "Since I was young," he admits. Then, after a moment he shares a bit more.

"Growing up, I had a ... a brother." It takes a moment for him to find the right word to describe his relationship with Merrick. "He would sometimes have these... fits. His emotions would become too intense for him to think clearly. Having something to do with his hands would help. I used to make things for him. And then when I trained as an Artificer, it helped me understand how to make them better."

Riona nods as she listens to his story, idly moving the pieces around in trying to figure it out. Well, this is gonna occupy her for a bit, that's for sure. "That was good of you, to do that for him. And you seemed to have gained quite a skill for it." At some point she might ask if he can make more. And pay him, of course. "I don't think I've met an Artificer before. That's traps and whatnot, right?"

"That's right," Cyril grinned, clearly pleased to have a chance to discuss this. "'Contraptions' is the word I've heard. In battle, that's a focus on traps."

"Damn, I wish I had you along during the Blight. We attempted traps a few times during the trip, but it... never went well. Either they didn't work or someone in our own party stepped on them." Probably Alistair, the poor man. He wouldn't have feet left if it weren't for Wynne.

Cyril winces a bit at the idea. "Ouch. That sounds terrible. The traps I make explode."

"Oooh, thank the Maker we didn't have much of the explosion variety." Because even Wynne can't heal a dead person, and that's exactly what they would have wound up with. "So you must have to set up a lot of ambushes in order to use the traps effectively, I imagine?"

"Usually, yes. You have to strategize and communicate with your team too if it's in the heat of battle. They should know what to look out for, so they don't stumble onto it themselves."

"Some I can toss at villains while they charge at me. I have ones that when they explode they use an elemental attack. Not as focused or powerful as a mage, mind you, but enough to slow them down so a warrior can strike them down."
