Stick a Fork in Me

Who: Katie McCoy and you
Broadcast: Fleetwide.
Action: Vanquish, Iskaulit, Malum
When: Today!

Just a moment--

[She'd apologise for the deafening thunk of a very solid piece of metal striking the floor in front of your screens, but she's in too bad a mood.   It's the business end of a battle axe, runes inscribed along the metal edge and the weapon far too ridiculously big for a person like Katie to use.  In fact, it's not temper that made her slam the stupid thing into the floor.  She just can't lift it for very long, it's too goddamned heavy.

(Especially for someone who's been out cold for nearly three months, and this is what she comes back to?)]

Now.  Who's responsible for this?  Where did you get it?

[Anyone who saw any Tully-related flashbacks in calibrations will recognise the weapon for his.  Otherwise, the runework is distinctly Scandinavian (Younger Futhark, to be precise) if there are any geeks in the audience.

...also, that's from the Atroma and it's been sitting in the cargo bay for months.  Merry belated Christmas?  She really appreciates it.  Honest.]

---------

[In person, one can find Katie either dragging said stupid axe back to her quarters on the Vanquish, down at the fox park on the Iskaulit, or lurking at a table in Malum and getting really drunk, which is possibly not wise but par for the course.]

I'm too old to teach children.

[But never too old to make fun of them.]

Besides, I have my hands full with the Nerd Herd.

Oh no, with them, we'd need a whole different board. "Ruins", "history", "thousands of years ago", "ancient civilization", blah blah blah.

[Look, she's getting bored just thinking about it.]

Eizen, Sorey, Mikleo and Alisha are all history nerds, yes. You can take a nap while they talk about that and they'll still be talking when you wake up.

Nah, that's too much work and then they would want to play. Which sort of defeats the purpose.

No, I just go inside Sorey and start listing off the many offenses he's made. That helps. Because then Mikleo shows up and gets all huffy.

Hm, I suppose he is defensive. And he wants to defend Sorey as much as himself. So, it doesn't matter who has faults. Of course, Sorey has a habit of trying to make peace between us all.

I know. The fact that he's afraid of dogs only adds to that.

[Spilling your secrets, Mikleo.]

[It's okay, Katie. You can laugh. It's funny.]

Oh, they bark at him. Dogs can't see us, but they can smell and sense us. Evidently, Touchleo gets up in arms about doggies sniffing at his delicate feet.

Freaks him out a lot.

[Edna remembers the way her "little brother" reacted when Dezel was found surrounded by dogs.]

He's gotten better about it, but when things that can sense you but obviously can't see you react like that, he gets a bit up in arms. Some of just play pranks.

For his own safety, sure. And they say that I'm mean.

Right, of course I do.

[Edna is, of course, under no illusion about her attitude and general disposition. And, well, she knows Katie's little caveat about the truth.]

I've been called worst. It's not so bad.
