From what I understand, we don't have much choice. Our departure is as much up to our captors as our arrival.

But I do understand what you mean. Do I abandon my country or do I stay here with people I might not have the chance to meet back home?

You can attempt to plan for every outcome. Still, when you're in that moment, you have to make the choice that's best for you. No one else can do that.

Asking for advice now is all well and good, but it's hard when we're talking hypotheticals. You're the only person who can make that choice in the end.

I've been there. It's not easy, but I think you'll be able to make the choice that's right for you if it comes down to it.

You know, someone told me something a while ago that I thought was a bunch of bull until I thought about it. After I was removed a bit from the crappiness that my life was before I met my wife.

What they said was "when it's better, the bad won't matter as much". So, something to keep in mind.
