Action: Tourist or The Melting Pot, lemme know.
When: Now! ... Also, he has a truth-blabbering glitch for this post. Have fun.

Hello, everyone! Business as usual, I suppose!

[He puts on his glasses, adjusting them to scribble some notes on a pad of paper.]

For anyone who is unaware, The Melting Pot has near-constant openings for chefs or waiters, so do let me know if you're interested in joining the community there. I'll be working on restocking our supplies here at the latest location, so if there is anything in particular you're pining for, fear not, I'll have it back in the pantry. It's particularly important for me to keep myself occupied from the godawful nightmares I have of doom and destruction, or from the fact that I feel rather helpless and entirely inadequate sometimes.

[Wait, what? He doesn't seem to have noticed that rather revealing yet somehow stupidly jovial commentary, though. He just keeps scribbling away in his notepad. Dotting those i's, and whatnot. He clears his throat.]

Please let me know if there's any food you'd like added to the menu, also! We could do with more selections.

[A pause.]

Another point; our dear friend, Matt Murdock, had something important to share with me before he vanished from the fleet, a short time back. He has particularly honed super-senses you see, especially with regard to hearing — what with being blind — and had informed me that there are no sounds of camerawork in any of the ships. It does make me wonder how they know what we're doing, if they indeed know what we're doing. Or if they're actually broadcasting anything at all. Anyway, knowing that he hadn't the chance to point this out, I figured I would do him the courtesy.

... With that in mind — please let me know if I should be hiding in a ship bunker at any point, because I'm particularly sick of all this chaos we seem to fly right into. I have a terrible feeling, is all... though the strange snowy marshmallow planet was a delight, truly. I suppose I feel inadequately prepared next to some of the people from my world. And other worlds. All worlds, really. It's why I spend so much on augment enhancements, so I can keep up properly.

... Ah. What was I talking about, again?

[He scratches his head with the end of his pen.]

Sorry, I lost my train of thought. Pardon me. What's a decent conclusion here...?

.... Oh! Valentine's Day is coming up. Have I really been here a year...? Well! I won't be getting drunk this time.

But I'll still be baking everyone sweets, if they'd like.

[ Kirk appears on the screen, and probably like many people he looks tired and a bit beaten up. Scratches not yet healed on his face, one even covered with a bandage on his cheek, that sort of drawn look around his eyes after all the sleepless nights and the battles and general horridness. A little to pale, perhaps.

Even so, he gives as warm a smile as he can as he begins to speak. ]

For those of you who might not know, I come from a world called Earth - or at least, one of the versions represented here. On my world, in the country I hail from, we celebrate something known as Thanksgiving roughly around this time of year if I've done my calculations correct. Some people call it Friendsgiving, but it's all the same really.

Essentially, it's a time to a give thanks for the good things in your life, your friends, and your family. In the spirit of that, I've arranged for a gathering at the Melting Pot - a thank you to Jarvis for that. Everyone who wishes to come is welcome.

I just thought we all could use a day, a place, to be together and to just enjoy each other. So I hope to see you there.

Action: The Melting Pot
[ The restaurant is set up to allow as much mingling as possible when people arrive - places to sit, of course, but there's gentle music playing for those who might want to dance and just to give some atmosphere (but not loud enough to stop conversation at all). Food and drink is laid out - things to nibble on rather than the usual feasts associated with a Thanksgiving. Not particularly ideal, but it's what could be managed. Unless, of course, anyone decided to bring something else to add to the spread.

Not a fancy party, to be sure, but it's warm and inviting, which is what Kirk had hoped for. A place for them all to come together and enjoy each other and just be glad they were all there and if not quite completely whole, then, well, able to be there. ]

[ooc: Open mingle! Feel free to create your own starters and do as you like - tis a warm Friendsgiving party for the Fleet! ]

Who: Everyone

Action: Lato'li's orbit and also planetside.
When: Forward dated to 11/15.

[The Interceptor Fleet moves into position, waiting for the last few shield generators to fall. And in the early hours of the 15th, they do. The shield dissolves with a blip as if it was never there, leaving the man-eaters as prone as their prey. The Interceptors send out a transmission-- an unholy mix of Cockney and Australian that graces every available communicator-- if they answer it.]

We’re firin’! Do yer worst, Vieziri! We’re gonna kick yer sorry arses so hard you’ll kiss the moons!

[Five Interceptor ships swoop out of the dark and unload their various weaponry onto the Vieziri warships. At the same time, people stranded on the planet below ready the anti-aircraft guns onto their makers. And of course there is the Fleet itself, battered and yet beautiful across the velvet sky, as they fire everything they have.

Now the Vieziri start moving. Though the big red ship can’t do much maneuvering, the rest of the Vieziri warships certainly can. They fire back at the Interceptors and whoever else fires at them, willing to defend their leader and lose their lives in the process.

Luckily, the Interceptors have their own daring ships, which may look familiar to those who were here for the raider attack. One is emblazoned with racing stripes and flames all along the hull, and it moves so fast it nearly enters hyperspace. It’s there and gone in a flash, weaving past the enemy in crazy thrillseeking loops. Still another Interceptor ship is painted red and orange with a gold plate near the front, which reads BAMF with no explanation. This one has guns aplenty and easily weathers any duel it gets into. The third Interceptor ship is beautiful gold and black, sleek as hell and engineered with sense; this one packs the most gadgets and formidable guns of all calibers, and appears to do the most damage. Trailing behind is a much smaller ship, so nondescript it almost doesn’t stand out at all-- that is, until it forms a barrier to absorb some oncoming fire and reflect it back at the Vieziri.

There’s one ship that’s missing, though-- the one that was blown up several months ago after the heist. In its place is a small black ship that runs invisible to radar, sweeping past with silent speed as it lets loose a barrage of photon missiles onto the Vieziri flagship.

Down below, the Vieziri come out in full force-- one last stand before the warlord falls, trying to finish their fell rituals. Some of them rush the encampments, some go for the cities. Near the restored comms tower, a cloaked figure with a plain white mask fights their way through the onslaught using a plasma blade and a laser rifle.

After an hours-long siege, the big warship finally takes too much fire and breaks apart, lighting up the sky with falling shards like stars. The biggest debris burns up in orbit, but little pieces still rain down. It signals the end as the Vieziri begin to retreat both on ground and in the air. The loss of their leadership leaves them scattered and panicked.

The Fleet has won the day, but as the sun rises again over the wreckage, there is still plenty of work to be done.]

[ooc: Feel free to assume the Interceptors are helping your ships! The gold and black ship can be hailed and will give responses, as she’s been the main point of contact during this plot. You can also run into Zhade, though tags will be slow for both accounting for RL things. Please mark Zhade or Interceptors in the header of your toplevel if you’d like NPC interaction.

Any questions should be asked on the plot post for phase two.]

Who: Howard Stark & You

Action: SS Bishop (cockpit)
When: Right meow!

( OPEN BROADCAST )

[ howard has been here a few days, enough to suss out that something has happened. it's caused a bit of disquiet among his crewmembers already since apparently their captain died or something?! whatever. he's finding it disturbingly easy to fall back into this role. peggy told him how long it's been and who else is among them, but in usual peggy fashion: not much else. it's left him bereft and even a bit listless which is very uncharacteristic indeed.

he sets his communicator on the control panel so he can record as he flies. as a result, the feed is much more low-key and features a cool, collected version of howard those who know him might not expect. howard nods his head once to show that he is in fact recording on purpose. ]
I hope my Huntress is in good hands. Though I guess... she isn't mine anymore. Forgive me, I'm usually not so bittersweet when saying goodbye to a lady friend. [ something of a wan look shadows his gaze, but it's quick, just a glimmer really. ]

Howard Stark. Ace inventor, innovator, pilot, and now director. [ a bit of a lopsided grin begins to spread across his lips, his mustache twitching with the movement. ] I'm also usually pretty charming if you can believe it. I would say you all missed me, it's been so long, but the turnover in this place is something else.

[ he hesitates over this next part, but he needs the intel. he knows questions will follow, but right now he doesn't care. later he'll be annoyed with himself, naturally. ] And if any of you used to know a Tony Stark or are holding his research... get in touch. [ tightly: ] Please.

( ENCRYPTED TO EDWIN JARVIS )

Hi-de-ho, old pal. [ a warm smile is reserved for his closest friend, even if he doesn't always treat him that way. or most of the time. whoops. ]

( ACTION SHENANIGANS )

Howard has been more-or-less just going through the motions since being assigned to the Bishop. He was actually a bit releaved to be off the Marsiva and have something to occupy his time with, truthfully. But with their captain MIA and everything more than slightly hectic, he's thrown himself into the work full on. He can really only be found in the cockpit or in his quarters for maybe two hours a night/morning. Even trips to the galley are extremely short-lived and involve toting snacks to the pilot's seat. With that said, he will be outspoken when matters of the ship come up that the captain would usually handle. It's easy for him to become attached and though he doesn't know these people yet, he feels responsible for them.

He hates responsibility.

My god, it’s full of stars.

[He wandered around the ship in a bit of a daze. First came the larger ship, then the small celebration welcoming him to the second, and he is just as confused as he was when he first woke up. It’s been a long couple of days for him and he finds his way to the bridge of the ship. Stars. So many stars, He slumps in one of the many chairs nearest the window looking out onto space. There’s a cup of tea in his hand and his head turns between the feed he managed to open and the view.]

It’s a dream, isn’t it? It has to be. I remember what happened.

[He’s still dressed in his leathers, not quite trusting himself to wear the ship standards just yet. It’s so clinical. So real… He curls up more in the chair, lifting his mask a little out of the way to have a sip.]

This ship is called Bishop. Like the clergymen and the chess piece. If…anyone is out there, where is here?

(Action – Bishop)

[Still on the bridge of the ship, Mantis decides to make use of the music system to play something classical in the hopes of soothing some of his confusion. The tea doesn’t hurt either, and he sighs heavily as he tries to count the stars he can see. His malaise is such that someone could reasonably sneak up on him if they were so inclined. He is making good company with the chair he singled out.]

It has come to my attention that the Bishop is now without a captain. I intend to claim that position. Any among the crew who wish to dispute that claim may challenge me at their leisure. The only promise I make to those who do is that I will ensure you survive your failure.

[It's a little hard to tell whether this would classify as a promotion or a coup, all things considered. Which was impressive since it's not like she got rid of Cersei, but she also had no intention whatsoever of being subservient to anyone left on the ship. And she was more than willing to take that position by force if necessary.]

As for everyone else... I would be interested in hearing if anyone has found a way off this section of the ship. The thought of being trapped here any longer is infuriating, and it is difficult to continue isolating myself.

    Who: Looma Red Wind
    Broadcast: Video
Action: Anyone unfortunate enough to be aboard the Bishop
When: Evening of 5/21? Does space even have evenings? Space dinner time?

[For the past few weeks, Looma had been in A Mood and pricklier than usual. All that came to a screeching halt though, once she took out some of that anger on the ship and discovered something wonderful. And of course she's sharing it! So there's a giant, multi-armed and armor-clad princess gracing the network for you flooters, and she's positively beaming from the cargo hold of the SS Bishop.]

I have discovered the most exciting thing! This ship can repair itself!

[While that wasn't technically true, that was totally the case from Looma's point of view. And she was more than willing to show everyone so that they might better appreciate the superiority of the floating collection of spare parts that she'd been forced to crew against her will okay. It was clearly a superior piece of junk.]

    Observe!

[And with that she's just gonna turn around and punch the absolute hell out of the closest bulkhead. It's loud, the video quality takes a hit as the camera's jostled by the pressure wave and falls on its side, and those two fists of hers have caved in a section of the hull the size of a Winnebago. Also the instrument panel up on the bridge is probably lighting up like a Christmas tree but honestly that is so far from being her problem that it really doesn't matter, right?

But as soon as she pulls her arms back, there's a loud creaking and groaning of metal as the wall just pops itself right back into place, good as new! And the novelty clearly hasn't worn off yet, because Looma's still as excited by this as ever as she turns around to set her communicator back upright.]

Is every ship capable of this?! To think I had been worried I might break something- this is wonderful!

[...okay, yep, she is going right back to beating the hell out of the ship again. And again. For the love of god someone stop her because at this rate she's liable to have everyone aboard convinced that the ship had found its way into an asteroid field or something. Just stop her for their sake, okay?]

    Broadcast: Fleetwide!
Action: Closed to Peggy, but can add action if wanted; he's aboard the Tourist.
    When: Nowish.

    [Closed to Peggy]

[When Jarvis wakes up from his short but rested coma (oh, memories, rushing in), he practically sits straight up like a mummy from a Universal picture — Dottie Underwood! The sample! Sousa's marriage in shambles! Miss Carter had a rebar through her stomach and he disabled bombs that could have killed them all — wow, he feels faint all over again. But no time to dawdle; he slips into his jacket and pulls on a coat and adjusts his tie, and ultimately he ends up walking into the Starstruck with a bit more urgency than he usually does.

Perhaps he should have checked to see if Miss Carter was here at the moment, but he's a bit discombobulated. The quiet guard dog (and his old, actual dog) points with a thumb over his shoulder toward the Captain's room and Jarvis, albeit hesitant after their last squabble in her room (family, family, family, it'd been about family, yes, he remembers clearly now), quickly makes his presence known.]

A rebar! You could have done well to inform me of your peril beforehand!

[... Did she tell him about it? He can't remember. His fleet memories are a bit murky. He will be outraged anyway, or... okay, not outraged, but indignant, aloof, hands on his hips and a huffy frown on his face. He's hard to take seriously. Also, hello, I'm awake.]

    You gave me a fright!

[Much, much later, he's doing something he was expecting to do days ago:]

Well...! Hello. If we haven't met yet, my name is Edwin Jarvis — a pleasure to make your acquaintance, and "Jarvis" will do just fine. [He seems a bit nervous, just a bit, because he's never actually done something like this before, but... well. He's had a little time to mull it over, and it just seems more and more important to get this over with.] You may know me from cooking here and there around the fleet; the Tourist especially.

But it's come to my attention that we don't have an actual eatery of any kind aboard the Iskaulit. Two bars are crucial, of course, especially under stressful circumstances, but one needs nourishment. Especially after bar hopping. Something to sap up all of that alcohol, one imagines.

So with that in mind... I will be formally opening a new bistro of sorts, called The Melting Pot. Currently I'm interested in any cooks who may be interested in working some hours there; I don't have a concrete menu yet, but as the name suggests, I'm more than happy to bring in dishes from across all worlds or ethnicity. Please, feel free to contact me if you would like. We're also in need of waiters or waitresses to take orders, if you prefer. It may be slow work considering we're a relatively small community, but it will be time spent and money earned regardless.

[He has his glasses on as he scribbles something down. A stray thought.]

    Also, more importantly...

    What is everyone's favorite foods?

Perhaps popular recommendations will be added to the future Melting Pot menu.
