Note: Shiro took Lance and Keith (the three of them being pilots) to check on the rest of the planet and try to find civilization. If you also play a pilot, feel free to assume Shiro recruited them too! Mods said there is only nature and more nature, no other cities, so I didn't see the point of threading that out and we handwaved it. The city is where shit is going down. If an engineer wants to follow his tracker idea you can see the results here. Also feel free to use this post to threadjack if you character wants to discuss information with another!

I'm sure I'm not the only one finding this place too good to be true, am I?

Some other pilots and I took the pods and tried to find other signs of civilization outside the main city, but the rest of the planet is just wilderness. After everything we've learned about terraforming projects and Atroma, I think it'd be wise to get as much information as possible from this planet too. It looks empty, but the library is large, especially the science section, which talks about inspiration for future convenient settlements in different points of the galaxy. There's a news building too - I haven't looked deeply into it but a quick look showed me files just abruptly stop after certain date. It's a lot to go through, so we should synchronize our work: each person could go for a different section to cover more information in the least amount of time. Teamwork can always go a long way.

Has any engineer tried to track the droids? Has the planet talked to any person with the ability to listen? Abandoned cities aren't a new concept but the lack of any signs of life is incredibly eerie.

Wouldn't we have found something if they got wiped out? Signs of their lives here? Or you think the people that did the wiping cleaned after them too?

All this stuff seems like signs of life to me.

I dunno. People don't just vanish for no reason.

[A pause, thinking about his own comment now. Maybe...]

What if this place runs on the same system as our ships?

That'd be worth knowing about.

[ He can take or leave grand mysteries-- and he'd rather leave them if it means leaving with his skin intact-- but Han doesn't like not knowing his ship inside and out. ]

There are coincidences. People just vanish here, some times their things disappear with them. The kitchens get infinite gel and drinks. No people in charge to talk too, just mysterious machines carrying on with their jobs.

[He shakes his head, obviously not amused at this coincidences. The more he explains, the more he sees it.] You're not completely wrong. The default food in the ships isn't very good, so when we enter a new system we always hurry to stock up the kitchens with good, tasty food. Actual, real meat and vegetables. But the protein gels? The drink machine? The synthetic powders? That's all from the ships themselves.

The gels and things aren't that bad.

But that's crazy. You think the ships are just, what, making it? Out of starship fuel?

[padadin]

[A mix of amused and surprised:] You must be the first person I've heard say that. At least here.

[Because boy has Coran defended the goo at home.]

I'm not sure. That's a possibility. They may be beaming them inside, too. When Atroma sent us gifts last year, they just showed up on the cargo bay one morning.

I mean it's not fancy, but... Look, if you've never had to deal with thawed expired frozen Soypro imitation-nerf patties for a month while on a painfully slow sublight run because the conservator broke down while you were in hostile territory, I could see complaining, but all in all this isn't so bad.

That's the people in charge of all this, right? What did they send you?

[padadin]

I was living in a castle ship for over a year and our only food was some green alien goo. Trust me, I know. [Astronaut food sucks, true story.] You're an astroexplorer too, then? At home, I mean.

[Obviously they're both pilots here.]

That's right. You get sponsor drops some times, like for your birthday. Those are silly and not very useful, although there are exceptions. We got a basket with candy from home last year after a particularly bad planet, it had some random gifts too, like a mug and shades. For the holidays I got an alien puppy, although some people got stuff from their worlds, weapons especially.

[straightouttacarbonite]

I'm the captain of a light freighter. So not so much an explorer, more like... in transport. The fast and discreet kind.

[ Why bother lying about it, he's a damn good smuggler. Here there's nothing to smuggle and no one to put a bounty on him, after all. ]

I mean I guess if they can just drag us here they can bring stuff, too. It makes as much sense as anything.

[padadin]

...fast and discreet. I see.

[Yeah, he can read between lines, so let's leave it there. Geez.]

It does. Their decisions don't always make sense, unless you blame everything on their wish to see how much they can put us through, but their ability to bring and take away is a constant.
